The much lower speeds help an awful lot as well. Also I love that fuel-saving is such an issue to so many in F1 yet the power-saving in Formula E is perfectly fine.
They do energy saving in FE too, the energy saving doesn't really seem to help them much though. Some people did try saving up for an extra lap but I don't think it did them any favours. One safety car is enough to mean they can go flat out till the end of the race/pit stop. The laps are short too, so I suppose energy saving isn't going to help much. If the distances were longer we'd see a lot more energy saving.

FE has been fantastic so far, it will be interesting to see if it can maintain that as bespoke parts are added, or will they just end up with the same problems as F1. FE does seem to be the future though.

It made a massive difference in the couple of races I watched with late charges. Though one was cut short by a safety car.

Why is it the future when many of the current popular criticisms of F1 can be aimed at it? Contrived racing, cars being hamstrung by regulations, fuel-saving, crap tracks, not very fast...

They're the future because electric will offer the next level of performance.

Racing will always suffer from contrived racing as you call it, because there will always be rules, there will always be safety concerns and fuel saving will always be a strategic option.

This is why FE the future.
Electric and driverless! You sit in, tell Sally satnav where to go and do whatever you want until you get there (not necessarily pleasureing yourself all the while, but most likely). Japanese models will be self cleaning as standard.

Can't wait to see it from a technology point of view but I have been a fan of drivers rather than teams for most of the time I've been watching. Who would you actually support? Some faceless team of programmers?

Sounds strange to me but if watching Reeling in the Years has taught us anything it's that the future isn't half as scarry as it sounds

No shame in being old, just in letting on that you're old

It's not rubbish, you're thinking of the car from back to the future. These cars use batteries.

Ron Dennis not confirming if Alonso will be with Mclaren in 201. Alonso says he wants to see what the car will be like first and then decide. So after the tests then. Can,t blame him really after the season he has had.
Mercedes starting to moan about Ferrari being able to use aero data from Haas and it is to be investigated. Mercedes had a chance to supply Haas and they said no so hard luck Mercedes stop moaning.

Also Red Bull to use an unbranded Renault engine according to the BBC.

Although Alonso stated that he won't take a sabbatical next year and in his interviews he was very realistic that next year won't be his third WDC. Imo the only team that could challenge Mercedes next year is Ferrari and if Renault does miracles, Red Bull.

Would love to know how different next year's McLaren could be in testing since there's no regulation changes.

Honda could get the MGUK/H working what causes them the massive top speed gap, this couldn't be fixed without causing massive issues for McLarens aerodynamic. Jenson and Alonso were both today close to getting through to Q3, just compare Alonsos time before the flat tire happened, what was close to the cutoff point for Q3, with 30km/h less on the straights.

Edit: Also Prodromou will have more input into the aerodynamics as he joined late for the 2015 car design and soon pointed at the flawed design approach of the cars handling.

Are Honda able to run the revised spec in the Pirelli test after this weekend?

Ron said he may take sabbatical, Alonso does not 100% deny it at first then denies it. end of story

What did he say over the radio that time - if there isn't a safety car soon he was going to pit the car? :pac:

Good end to a pretty dull season...hoping next year Rosberg might be fired up. Seems the development of the car has really favoured Nico recently, so I wonder how that'll impact the development of next year's car?

It's basically the motor sport equivalent of wwe wrestling. Staged, monotonous, political and boring. If you think they're racing then you're just the mug they're after.
