I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth

Can't be arsed trawling back through the last few pages, but I'm presuming the Guards have shot a few protestors?

You could be @rsed posting about killing protestors though...

To be fair to Barely There, he is one of those posters who does not want to discuss general points such as cronyism and inefficencies, he is more likely to look for small chinks of armour (e.g. isolated/small heated protests with Gardai) among the anti-IW campaigners which are largely irrelevant but possibly sow division in the ranks.

He is like one of those kids that couldn't or wouldn't play football but looked the opportunity to burst or steal the ball.

I think the problem now is that momentum has been lost. Dec 10th is a long way off and the government will do their level best to get I.W. protests off the headlines or at the very least show them in a bad light. If it were me, I would have planned more protests nationwide and a Dublin one sooner.

Think you are right the protests are working but this big gap is going to let it all calm down giving the govt time to regroup should keep up the pressure while it's working

Outrageous attempts to compare an industry dispute over beef prices to people protesting over paying for a service.

They are two different thing's and trying to compare the two really makes no sense.

Just so we're all clear here.

Are you ok with the meat protests, but not the water meter protests:confused:

    Or are both wrong?

Are you sure you're posting in the right thread Mr Trolling Troll? When im not on my phone I'll link younto the pages of posts from folk who like me have no issue with paying for water but with paying for thousands of unnecessary staff, disgraced county managers on 6 figure sums, incompetence in the face if millions spent on consultation, cronyism etc

If you read my post you would have seen the highlighted bit too.
who don't want to pay anything for water or have other gripes about it.

How much is IW paying you for the water meter?
How much is the factory paying the farmer for the beef?

Yes these protests are so similar....NOT.

I wouldnt be too worried about it. Look at the number of scandals, one after another since the Keystone Cops came into power. I'd hardly bet on them lasting the rest of the week without something to stoke the fire, never-mind a month.

Yes...gripe water. I thought gripes was appropriate.

We all have gripes about things whether very valid or not. I would count the PPS gripe a silly one.

Im okay with both happening but I can still disagree with the reason's for them can't I?

Meat prices were actually at a high the last few year's fro what ive heard so not too sure how much I agree with protests however if it is the case farmers across the border are getting more then thats an issue alright. But thats way off topic.

Yes they provide the beef to the factories.

How much water will you be selling to IW, and how much do they pay for the water?
Also who wants to buy your sewage?

I won't even go near the sewage.

Wont everyone with a waste pipe be providing IW with raw material to process? They should be paid.
Or do you think water falls out of the sky?

Wait you think IW should pay people for flushing the toilet or taking the plug out of the sink?

Put your sewage up for sale on EBay if you think it is worth something.

Water falls from the sky but would you drink water collected from the gutters?

    Yes please.

In my company, our payslips are held online. We download them using our PPS number as password.

    Collateral damage?

I sent my PPS number to many agencies from my accountant, to stock broker, my bank and have no problem handing it out. It has never been misued and it is a criminal offense to do so.

PPS numbers are not for passwords. Even with my bank I don't use my account number as a password or identifier.

My only problem which I later thought of is, I don't want you using my PPS number to find out who I am, and it is why we post under pseudonyms.
But if I knew you or what company you are I wouldn't have a problem and I would have no problem if I was an IW customer.

Had to have evidence of my PPS number last week to renew my drivers license. No big deal.

You agreed to give me your PPS number earlier and now you are refusing to do so.

Do you want us to remain friends or what?

When can we expect the new revised charges to be announced lads?
Do you think they will still want PPS numbers or are we past that?

Haven't read the thread in days.

Their work depends on farmers getting cows and heifers in calf. The farmer being up in the middle of the night maybe helping the cow or heifer deliver the calf. then feeding the animal, looking after its health throughout its life before it is then sold.

These workers only have jobs thanks to farmers. We can decide to not pay the farmer the right price and push the farmer to doing something else instead of producing beef.
Then where are those meat factory jobs?

A farmer near me told me he didn't bother buying cattle to feed over the winter as it didn't pay and instead he sold the grass that would have been used to feed the animals.

Innocent workers will be unemployed workers if beef fails to pay farmers.
Lots are getting out and looking to dairy instead of beef.

Try putting a glass of water up on ebay see how much you get for it.

Yes i would, though i dont. I think you would be surprised how many people have spent most of their lives drinking rainwater without ill effects. My next door neighbour only put in a well three years ago. Until then he had a pump connected to a water trough at the back of his house with the roof draining into it. Never a sick day!
People in the country dont whinge about services, they move the leaves from the intake pipe and get on with it.
