I personally looked forward to logging in to see TTM's posts and reports. I love the fact that he is opinionated and passionate too. It would be great to have him back posting again on this thread.

Agreed. Given that I havent lived in Cork for the last few years I appreciated his insight to the club and county team.

Any word on the finalised minor panel?

I would be of the opinion he dominated thread to such an extent that he pissed other posters off, they left and the forum became quite unbalanced

You need a range and a mix of views for a successful forum

If he could reel in his posts, make them more relevant, be less argumentative and not brow beat those who dont agree with him he would be a valued contributor

I dont see that happening though.

Im sure he'll be back in which case ill be in for a lambasting

Yeah to be fair he was dominating the thread from time to time. I stated that I like his passion and his opinion and I agreed with him a lot of the time. But there was various occasions where he just didn't accept a differing opinion and the debate ended up being an argument.

I still think he is a vital part of this thread in order to get constant feed and reports on teams and players. His knowledge of the game is top notch. It would be best if he just put out his report or opinion and leave it at that. Hard to see that happening at this stage but it would br a great help to this thread.

McGrath Cup Final: Cork 1-15 Clare 1-9

Brian Hurley 1-4 (0-2 frees), Colm O'Driscoll 0-3, Daniel Goulding 0-2 (1 free), Dan McEoin 0-2, Ian McGuire 0-1, Mark Collins 0-1, Paul Kerrigan 0-1 and Seamus Hickey 0-1.

A good win for the footballers, job done. Brian Hurley and Kerrigan were looking sharp. Great to see Colm O Driscoll and Brian O Driscoll improving with every game. Brother Kevin O Driscoll I'm not so sure with. Can be sloppy in possession at times. Dan McEoin when he gets ball into hand, he is effective. A very good footballer. Still needs to lose a stone to survive at this level but has great potential. Mark Collins worked tirelessly throughout. Tomas Clancy made a few strong runs up the centre opening up a few attacks. McGuire did well midfield although got beaten to a few high balls by the brilliant Gary Brennan. Goulding has another bit to go up front to get back to his best but it's great to see him get game time. Seamus Hickey made the biggest impact of the subs. His pace and direct running could make him an effective impact sub later in the year. Running at tired defenses made him look dangerous last night.

Overall I am happy how things are going. Peadar Healy blending in the senior players with the newcomers with more players to come back for the league.

I have to agree with your assessment star, of course early days but at least peadar and co have identified a huge area for cork and that is midfield - the playing of the likes of butcher and deane as an auxiliary midfielder at half forward is something to continue with imo. Maguire with alan oconnor will be our starting midfield come championship all being fit of course. However the other 2 can do a job at midfield if required, both physical and work their socks off. Considering the debacle of the Kildare game where cork played for 50 minutes with cadogan & gould at midfield...........
Not sure either about kevin odriscoll, not a midfielder at this level and competition for the half forward line considering the likes of orourke, Collins and Kerrigan are there also will be heavy.
Tough test for cork next weekend first game up, mayo will be out to prove that getting rid of their management team during the winter was worth it, will be very physical next sunday

Three new lads so. Stephen Murphy, Cathal Cormack and William Leahy.

Murphy's addition instead of Brian Moylan, Twomey or Cashman may mean that Shane O'Neill is seen as a half back by the new management? Lacks size but a very good defender and excellent hurler.

Leahy and Cormack are two forwards with a bit of size which is what we need.

    Let's hope they step up.

Both Glen lads Brian Moylan and Dean Brosnan will probably feel unlucky to miss out. Was surprised with Murphy making it

V conservative selection. They are at half a dozen tried and tested lads how needed to be put out to pasture at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,365 ✭✭✭zetecescort

only if there is half a dozen better to come in which is where we struggle. don't think this management or previous are overlooking any obvious candidates

Very safe pick. There are a few young lads who can definitely feel hard done by.

Dungourney beaten today in the All Ireland semi, played most of the game with 14. Shanballymore drew their Munster final

They don't necessarily have to be better just young fellows with the potential to be better with the proper training/coaching. They are at least half a dozen permanent subs included above its not the biggest gamble to give them the axe and go with youth. Although results haven't show it Cork have had 3 back to back good minor sides with some v promising players.

Agree especially with moylan left out

Murphy not the biggest lad but loads of skill pace and reads game very well a very useful sddition

Id of prefered if he kept a few more younger lads but I spouse hes trying to get a balance

Ephie Fitzgerald appointed Ladies football manager. seems like a good pick, his track record is very good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,451 ✭✭✭big_drive

Good appointment by the ladies. Good experienced individual

This guy Ronayne who was in the running came out in the media yesterday saying he was withdrawing. Presume he knew he wasn't getting it anyway. He seems to like the spotlight, always in the news complaining about something

Very happy with Ephie getting the job. Experienced, dedicated and will bring a lot to the already very good setup the ladies have.
