Next season's dates - as usual in World Cup years it's a November start.

Of special note though is that the final gets its mid-May slot back and, though avowedly for one year only, the winners of the Challenge Cup will get their Champions Cup place back.

What's the point of having it for one year only..?

Like, are they just gonna scrap the challenge cup?

They say "to facilitate the Rugby World Cup" which will have been over six months at that point, so I'm not sure how it does so. My best guess is that Premiership Rugby plan to play regular season games up until the end of May next season, as they can't start till mid October, and they won't run the play offs during the June international window.

I really like the idea of challenge cupwinners getting intothe Champions cup the following year.

Well it's always been the incentive during the last competition. Think it's ridiculous that they dropped it.

Don't think Lacey is giving Northampton much but they are having yet another European collapse. This is a fiasco though Clermont doing very well of course.

Hard to see beyond a Clermont - Toulon Final.

    Two mediocre teams.

    Ha playing unreal.

Racing might be a different proposition to the English sides for Clermont (even Saracens might do better away from SMM) but if Toulon are on form it's so hard to see past them.

I'd say it's better but I should watch the tape of FG first. Bod and Luke on fire that night

It was looking like Saints would score.... But Clrrmont turn it over and run the length of the field. 37-0.

    Wikipedia says no.

Surely they'll manage a score with Clermont down to 14 though.

What's the record victory margin in knockout games?

    Northampton
    Ha.

I'm not sure, maybe the French teams don't have difficult enough qualification or something else unfair that is resulting in this thumping. I think we need a new championship next year as something is clearly unfair for Northampton here.

Had a quick look at the results through the years. I don't think any team ever failed to score in the knock-out stages.

In '07-08 Munster beat Gloucester 16-3.
In '03-04 Wasps beat Gloucester 34-3.
In '99-00 Scarlets beat Cardiff 22-3.

Not sure if this is the record margin of victory but in '97-98 Leicester beat Glasgow 90-19 in a quarter-final

crazy from lacey, that should have been a card.

Lacey really is a tool, how has he let Waller away with that? Ridiculous

Problem is the top French clubs are just pulling away from everyone else.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,193 ✭✭✭A-Train

How he got away with that is beyond me

Punches him in the face has to be red. Lacey showing mercy to Northampton.

    Northampton
How was that not a serious yellow or justifiable red?

    Clermont
Don't understand how a card wasn't given there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,331 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

New try celebration: punch an opposition player after you touch the ball down, and the ref will do sweet fcuk all.
