I've never been blown away by BMW engines noise wise, they all sound a bit weezy to me.
A proper set of pipe helps though!

Remember I'm coming from a 1.0 Yaris too :pac:

    He's mx5 mad don't mind him :)

525 would sound fantastic woken up a bit!
I agree on the 40i's though, they have the most unreal sound. If i get one its being straight piped, totally unfair to keep it locked up!

Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't been to McDonald's in a while... NOW IS THE TIME!
Their best sandwich is back again!

    THE BIG TASTY.

The only McDonald's sandwich that will leave you full! It's still got its 2001 size!

    And that smokey sauce... Jeeesus.

In other news, I replaced my light:

    Maybe the 4 pot ones... How about a 12v, 24v or a 32v :D

But as much as I like the sound of my past and present cars, doesn't compare to the sound of another car here.... To me anyway

Anyone know roughly how many cars were sold in dublin in 2007 in other words would a car with a plate around 43000 be a uk import or was there actually that many vehicle registered in Dublin.

Put the reg into www.motorcheck.ie and it'll tell you.

Numbers of Irish cars are much higher than 40000 though

There were 186000 cars registered in Ireland in 2007, it'd be a lot higher than that For uk cars

I was wrong the plate number is 34,000 ish. the clocks are in km anyway so it's a safe enough bet it's not a uk import. For some reason I didn't think they sold that amount of cars in Dublin but then I suppose 07 was boom.

Ah now, I've heard them all.
They all need to have a lump taken out of their throat.

I get it like, they're executive cars, so they're meant to be quiet. That's just not for me though.
Sure even the V12 sounds like a little mouse with a V12 stuck deep inside it, coughing.
    Needs more umpf.

The 280, that thing is something else! :D

I dunno. I quite like the idea of the quiet diginifed plant your foot down in the pile carpet and surge ahead without any fuss type car.

I'd have a big lazy merc please. No screaming engine for me.

    Thank you very much! :)

I am back. And got a cert for 4 weeks, so more boards spamming very soon. ;)

Really sad thing is, I am told not to do any heavy lifting/pushing/pulling for at least 6 weeks from now on. Despite having plenty of time I would not be able to look after my car - wanted to clean the throttle body up as well as a number of other things. :(

A V8 E38/9 is WAY too quiet. The E32/4 8pots were mmuch more throaty from the factory.

So you've moved from a small Jap to a straight six Bavarian and wish you were with the Japanese again!

You think that's bad; there is no discernible noise from my F02 750Li, arrgh.

To me, the V8 engine rumble just makes me think of New York. Neither of my 8 pots give me the pleasure of sitting on a street hearing the Town Cars and Crown Vics go by.

I was out with a friend at the weekend trying to source her first car (at age 49). THe sound of a 335i convertible straight six was great. If only it ewas red, it would have been purchased on the spot, irrespective of the motor tax nonsense.

Completely different ends of the spectrum though :p Mine is one to eat miles in absolute comfort while also having a good bit of power, the brothers is just a hilarious Go-Kart!

Which engine did he put in? Your BMW might have more bhp but the light weight of the civic would mean he would take off faster and leave you for a while till he hits the 180km limiter. Damn Japs and their speed limiters.

So I went to get dayyyysel into the van. It's damp out, cauld, I'm tired. We were heading to Esso on the Trim road where I would then get a wurley burger to go with my booze when I got home. Hardly eventful?

On approaching the pump, there was this Mondeo, this Townspark spec Mondeo (Silver, 01, no hubcaps, petril, light to moderate coating of silt, full of crap in the back, generic non specific ankleball sticker SPONSORED BY [INSERT GENERIC RUBBISH TABLOID HERE]) Guess you could say out of fashion unmarked garda car spec anywhere else but in this little cesspit of a town there is an abundance of millennium D segment saloons driven by inspiring individuals from privileged hamlets dotted around the town...

Anyway, I'm assuming it had just filled up with petril. You could see the lights come on, then dim slightly as it cranked. Only then I realised, the driver was doing a runner. Well I think he was, the fella at the till was doing a wacky waving inflatable tube man impression and I don't think it was in vain... This is surprising and mildly arousing stuff

Alas, it was time to deflate the situation. The gentleman in the Mondeo proceeded to absolutely bault from the situation by immediately turning left. But what's to the left besides the pump? A foot high kerb... Oh dear!!!

Cue the audible fizz as the front tyre mashed uncomfortably and mortally against the kerb, it's soul released as it's fragile side ruptured and gave up. This was then followed by the back wheel, which being a wheel rolled on top of the abnormally high kerb! But what goes up must come down and did it come down or what. I could almost feel the unholy bang the car gave as the bumper was somewhat dislodged from it's previous affixment along with what I think was it's exhaust, or should I say the remains of

The car proceeded to blaze out of the forecourt, dead tyre an bumper ahoy, cutting off traffic and shooting to the redline in the Trim direction, a massive hurry to go nowhere perhaps?

At least I was sitting down when I saw all this as I fell over with the laughing and I'm still laughing now :D
