Was in a relations new octavia vrs 184 bhp. There a nice car doesn't feel as quick as his old 170 vrs but there is only a few thousand km on it so its still not fully opened up at all they take realistically 10k km to properly bed in. Still really nice car nice sound out of that new engine too when idling doesn't sound very diesel like. I'd still prefer a gtd golf all day over it also like the Leon fr too.

Engines a lot more linear in them now but they made it a bit too heavy imo blunting the extra poke a bit.

This vrs only had 3k km on it hence why it still needs time to open up. Still felt quick no doubt I just don't think it's at its full potential yet. Infairness as engines go its a great balance of power and fuel economy.

The engine is great for what it is. Got a clear enough run home the other night and got this:

I know economy is boring but when there's at least a hundred a week going on fuel it makes a nice difference.

Drove a new Leon Cupra 280bhp on the autobahn the other night MC, and even that was very economical, nice cars to drive and sit in I must say

Jaysus, was told about 8 weeks. Maybe being a right hand drive plays a part. Only thinking at the moment though if a plan to reduce the mileage works out.

What's your current annual mileage at the moment out of curiosity as you do seem to do a lot of commuting.

It's about 26k or so at the moment, have it 6 months I think. Hopefully I can work from home more for the winter. It's not that long mileage wise but it takes time more than anything as you pass through a load of towns and have Skehard Road/Mahon Point to deal with. I try to take the old lads car a day a week too to give it a run as it's stuck around town otherwise.

The best thing about moving to Basel is, no more JL tunnel morning madness and no more feckin Conna, Curraglass or feckin Tallow!

Tunnel itself isn't that bad, but I try hit it before traffic in the mornings. It's going down Skehard Road in the evenings drives me ga ga.

That was a waste of time.

Attempted to fix a leaky brakelight. New gaskets. Clean the mating surfaces. Fitted everything back together properly...

    First rainshower, leaks again.

I gave up and just drilled three holes in the lens to let it drain because I don't know how it's getting in.

It was either that, or add goldfish. (Not even a Phantom has Goldfish!)

I thought it might've been. But those look in good condition. And there doesn't appear to be any moisture in the boot itself.
