Tyre cost isn't all that much more tbh. It's the price you pay for the looks but with so many options on how to get tyres these days it's not going to be all that painful.

Can't blame him to be fair,

I'm no RGI myself but Pop a q in the plumbing & heating forum and see is there an RGI near you on it. What make & model is it, out of interest?

Got onto a chap in the end and he gave me the lowdown on the manufacturer. Nobody will touch them as they've got a sole supplier deal with one company here. Parts, servicing etc. have to go through this crowd. Ah well... I'm not footing the bill. :pac:

    Anywho... back to cars.

I would have thought 17's wouldn't disturb things too much?

They won't but the 16's more than likely will have a bigger tyre wall and be more comfortable on rough roads.

That cat looks like it's seen it's fair share of rough roads! :pac:

Oh you betcha it's seen bad back roads. I try to keep it handy on them though! Surprised the shocks haven't needed attention by now! Biggest pain is the briars, furs, branches which are never cut back. My wing mirrors are destroyed with marks!

Trading it in. Had it for sale for last two months and no interest it's a great car who ever buys it anyway!

Ya still only thoughts in my head, them 17's can curb easily, and most I've seen have been damaged somewhat. If I stumble across a clean set, I'll snap them up.

Have the 17's on mine and they are very comfy to drive on. Plus they look better than 16's

Just back from cork now. I got free vw mats for my car yay. They are so unbelievably sound it's extremely rare in garages nowadays.

Ok so I'm back from the mechanic who did another diagnostics on the car. Coming back as P2008.

So he said it's one of 2 things, either the solenoid is faulty or the throttle body.

He then did a test on the injectors and these are the readings he got back for all 4, what do you think?

The mechianc said that 0,0 is a perfect reading and that rest would be deemed acceptable.

So back to the error code, we switched the solenoid to a petrol Accords one and he asked me to drive around for a few days and see if the fault comes back.

So far I've been flooring it a lot and no sign of hesitation.

The car will be going back in 2 weeks to him as he wants to switch all 4 injectors with ones he knows are good and see if the rattle disappears.

Then he will do another ECU scan and see if P2008 shows up, if not then he will order the proper solenoid and fit it.

Did you ever get the car terra cleaned? A lot suggest it's a snake oil scam, but I believe it rids the fuel injection system of harmful deposits of carbon. Maybe it's worth doing in you're situation?

Never had it done, only owned it since October but maybe it's worth a shot. I'm thinking also of throwing some injector cleaner into it but I seriously doubt it would change anything.

Not sure what them readings are. on my old van you could check what injection quantity adjusment was being done to produce a smooth idle. If a cylinder was underpowered it would increase the IQ and reduce if it was overpowered. The readings were simlar to above with a tolerance of +\- 2.0 mg /stroke. Not sure on the units. You would need to know what the +\- spec is for you car and also what is it exactly its reading. Your mechanic maybe knows this spec. Its only an indication of the cylinder being underpowered so it could be poor compression or a faulty injector. Only guessing here :). The known good injectors will hopefully diagnose it.

Bear1 I had similar in my Pisshat. Turned out to be the lobes on the camshaft which had worn badly. Ultimately it became constant. Diagnostic checks always came back ok.

Had a close enough one today. Said I'd wait to get to kilkenny to get diesel as it was cheaper plus I'm fussy about getting it in certain places / brands. 1 mile outside clonmel light comes on I was getting nervous by the time I got to kilkenny it's probably the guts of 50km. The range was reading 70km put gauge was practically on 0 when pulling into garage. 55l tank took 53.6l to fill I know you have to allow for the fuel filler pipe but that doesn't hold that much. It's the first time I've driven to almost empty bring on the light since I got it. I don't know how people do it everyday it makes me nervous.

The fuel light comes on very early in the primera. Guage is a bit dodgy. It came on in potlaoise on the wayback from cork. Had to go to finglas then the other night. Only 2 stations on the way over and both were full with no one at the pumps... stuck for time and after some quick sums in my head I drove on. on the way back at 120 on the N2 started loosing power so dropped back to 70. It nearly died on a long right just after the motorway exit. Literally ran out of diesel 20 yards from the station but it was luckily slightly downhill and I'd enough momentum that I could just freewheel to the pump! Didn't have the cash on me to fill it unfortunately.

Are you really fussy about where you fill up? I just fill up at the nearest station to me whenever its at half or so and I remember.

What car do you drive I think I remember you saying it was a golf mark4 tdi if so that;s the same as my daily now and I usually run it on past the empty line until the guage doesnt move on startup because as I do 450-550 miles a week I'd be forever in the damn filling station lol at least I'm not in a leaf (yet lol) that will redefine my definition of "range anxiety" lol :)
