Because if it had, then I wouldn't be getting my power back until after midnight! As it is, we're powerless until 20.00 this evening. So it's either a cooked late dinner or a can of cold beans on white bread for poor turnipman and family.

Could be worse, could be cold turnips ;-)

Some fantastic sheet and fork lightning over the South East over the past few hours.

Managed to grab a a short video from my car cam. Not exactly HD and no sound but its something at least.

Epic thunder and lightning over south KK. Comes in intense fits and starts. Ongoing since 3.30pm. Amazing anvil crawlers.

This particular episode of thunder/lightning is unusual purely because of its longevity. Never ending.

Torrential rain, hail and lots of lightning again here in Waterford.

It's been on and off all day since 4am this morning. Crazy.

Was just going to add that I can't recall another day like this in my 49 years. Remarkably sustained thunderous activity.

Still rumbling away here in Waterford City. We really are being spoiled now at this stage. Amazing stuff for storm lovers. :D

Pretty rough day in Wexford. Was in work and our supply was disrupted for an hour in the afternoon and again towards evening. Looking out over Wexford harbour was spectacular. I've never seen anything like it.

Downside is that I am typing this in the dark. Looked up ESB powercheck and it told us that it would be 13:00 tomorrow before power would be restored.

Saw a few lightning flashes SSE direction from Dublin's East coast (Clontarf) at about 21.00 tonight. Blanket flashes (if that's the right terminology). I could see the moon, but was soon covered by fast moving cloud moving East.

(not a weathersexual, but saw the flashes, came apon this thread and thought I'd post)
