That unfortunately is not TI and I thought TI commented recently that there had been no moves from IM to have the race sanctioned which would be a big indication of how likely the race was going to be going ahead.

    Ah...... School boy error!

Pretty sure there was a link on this forum saying it's a go but looks like it was snipped.

TriAthy Double will do nicely anyways if it doesn't work out.

Messaged IM Dublin on facebook today to see what the craic was. They got back to say that this race is happening and that further details on dates/registration should be released soon.

Got an email back saying registration probably opening in October (no exact date confirmed)

even if they were to announce something now, how much faith would people have? does anyone know have WTC ever cancelled a race(in advance of race day) after taking money for it, and if so, did they refund money?

IIRC, Ironman NYC was cancelled in Year 2 and they had started taking registrations at that point....Logistics were a joke for that one.

Will be interesting to see how/if it works out for Dublin when multiple councils are involved...

So WCC, DLRCC and one or both of SDCC and DCC involved - that should keep the organisers occupied for a good while...

Sounds like a tough enough course.

Sounds like a course (bike/run) that I'd do regularly enough.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,583 ✭✭✭✭tunney

I hear some of the run will be on Silfen paths so that should be interesting.

Twice around the new Beast of the East course and you have the bones of a very tough and unusual 70.3 - just not quite a "Dublin" 70.3 I suppose.

Is that a guess or inside information?

At least it gives me time to learn how not to drown!

    Excellent!

What are the odds of getting a place? I presume there is a set capacity, would it fill up quickly?

I'm completely and utterly ignorant of this type of race. Looks tough enough but hopefully I will have enough time to sort myself out for it.

    Thanks.

That was touted months ago as a provisional date.

Either of you work in Paddy Power and talking up the odds? :P
