I'm not silly enough to try to give a strict definition to the concept of someone being "wealthy" because I'm not trying to get elected by demonising a particular sector of society by turning into a bogeyman that ruined the country singlehandedly.
Phew. Good. You had me going there for a minute.
So, who are these silly people that were blaming all rich people for setting up a corrupt political/financial/property cartel that bankrupted the country?
Go on, do tell. Be specific now please.

The point being that the do so up north because it is necessary yet claim they would end austerity down south despite it being just as, if not more necessary there. Codology.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Westminster set what cash will be available for the budgets in the north. Wasn't Peter Robinson begging London to set the north's corporate tax at the same level as this one? To try and level the playing field, so to speak.
The UK Government today announced that the Northern Ireland Executive’s capital budget for 2015-16 will increase by 3.3% in cash terms to £1.1bn (1.5% in real terms). This will allow the Executive to boost spending on infrastructure projects and support economic growth

    Different power share. Different budget.
    You knew that, right?

"Stop taking nonsense. - The Irish Flag is for all Irish to embrace. "
"It has been used for decades in both sport and politics, time to get over it"
"Talk about desperate for something to moan about..."

Its disrespectful to use our national flag in such a jingoistic way , though you Shinners would be a bit more patriotic about it. It's a the national flag of the Irish Republic, represents ALL Irish and not just SF, much as you would like it otherwise and I for one do not wish to see my flag used as a SF party scarf/mascot !
Your nasty comments even in this regard betray the contempt which your party shows for those who don't see things your way !

So essentially you're ok with all Irish people and the flag, except the evil Sinn Fein people.

Would these number surprise you at all in our times of austerity?

They're not all SF's fictitious 'wealthy' bogeymen.

Let me give you an example.

My mother is retired. Her brother died suddenly a couple of years back and she inherited his farm and very small house. The land was sold for forestry to cover the inheritance tax.
The house is pretty much unsaleable (it's in poor order and in the middle of nowhere in rural Roscommon), yet it's liable for NPPR.

So what you're saying is, SF in the north implement austerity mandated by London but if in the power in Dublin would not implement austerity mandated by Brussels?

So what you're saying is, SF in the north implement austerity mandated by London but if in the power in Dublin would not implement austerity mandated by Brussels?

    Well, not quite.

But for starters, I believe they may do slightly Better than previous MEPs have in securing us some kind of meaningful deal on bank debt, I mean it's now mid 2014 and the other guys still haven't 'brought home the bacon' you could be forgiven for thinking they're not even trying tbh.

Also, it is disingenuous to try and imply that they implement austerity in the north. I don't think they have much input on rising or lowering direct taxation methods.

Apart from that, they're the junior partner (albeit slight) in a coalition government.

This is my understanding of it, Fwiw.

So anyone who disagrees with you is engaging in "nonsensical rants" - its called having a point of view, to which I'm entitled as a citizen of this State, or perhaps would you prefer to enforce your own brand of censorship on anyone who dares challenge your party's behaviour or statements ??

The [Sinn Fein councillor] couple met as students in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) where they were taking Cultural Studies.

Did my taxes pay for that?

    Grrrr!

You're entitled to your opinion on people adorning the national flag to celebrate, be it political or sporting achievements.

I don't share your point of view, and I think you're merely looking for something to complain about.

Does anyone know if SF elected officials do that in Northern Ireland, or do they wrap themselves in the flag of that particular place?

Culchies and their unrelenting FF support is the real joke.

As with SF and the Independents, FF appear to be benefiting from the anyone but FG/Labour protest too....interesting times in that constituency when FF pick their candidates for the next General Election

Mmmm sad as it seems, lots of voters must want this shower back to totally destroy our country for good.

    Words fail me

Fianna Fail did quite nicely despite the fuss with IND and SF.
They will have the most councillors which is a shame.

FF are gaining votes for the same reason SF are gaining votes.

Someone had to try and fix the country, I hope the Irish voters understand that.

But FF destroyed My country and Your Country.

Still well done to the independants and SF.

I have no idea what slightly better means. Or what you mean by some kind of meaningful deal. But if you think that 3 SF MEP's out of 766 will get you something slightly more meaningful then that is probably good. If I knew what it meant.

They better have a negotiation strategy ready which is more than "we want a slightly more meaningful deal". Otherwise I could be forgiven for thinking it's just the usual SF bluster.

The same people who voted FG in. Probably more of them will turn back to FF in the next general election, then FG again if things go wrong. Two cheeks of the same arse.

Then again there's plenty here throwing their dummies out because SF haven't "imposed" policies in NI when they don't have a majority there... next hear people whining about how little difference the SF MEPs have made (but shhh about the 766 number)
