The female nudity doesn't bother me either, but I think the argument of the male to female nudity ratio is an accurate one. I agree that it seemed as if they were baiting those who complain about, but I don't actually think that's the case. It was probably just a bad idea to put those two scenes back to back!

Yes apparently she refused to do anymore nude scenes after season two.

During season 2 there was a rumour that that was the case, but we had a nude scene with Daario in season 3.

Was that when she was in a bath? Maybe I'm mixing up the seasons then because I remember reading somewhere afterwards that that was the last nude scene she agreed to do.

Yup. You could be right, I just remember many viewers believing there would be nothing after season one till that bath scene.

Agree with all of this. Kiss lingered a little bit too long. She didnt push him away. She seemed to get awfully upset about one bit of a tower being knocked over "its ruined, I'll have to start all over". No you wont' just build that one tower again, you dont have to rebuild the whole damn thing!!! Didnt like the fact she used physical violence against him either, thought the pulling the head off the doll would have been a better way to send Robyn off crying.

I was kinda bouncing around after the Oberyn/Tyrion scene so I didn't really feel I fully appreciated it but having listened to podcast with a show-only watcher, it seems like they didn't do a great job with those scenes.

It was rushed. In an episode where you have Mel giving exposition about her tricks that could've been done when they happen in the books (next season or the one after), there was no reason to curtail one of the most important scenes Sansa has.

How she reacted to Robert didn't make a whole lot of sense. If they'd made him a dickhead who wrecked her castle for no reason it would've been more believable.

Na. I think that assumption that it's what the fans want stemmed at least partly from a lazy idea of fantasy and sci-fi people = male. There was also a pretty insulting lack of confidence in the audience with the whole sexposition stuff in series one.

A quick look at tumblr or any fansite will show pretty quickly that there's a large contingent of devoted female fans, and I don't think many of them would be complaining if Kit, Nikolai and some of the others had weekly sex-scenes (preferably together!). It's the usual old crap of female nudity sells, and male nudity is rightly or wrongly perceived as something that'd be very off-putting for male viewers. It's hardly unique to GOT, the sheer amount and gratuity of the female nudity combined with the regular sexual violence means people get a bit more riled up about it is all. It's very much the exception rather than the rule for any film or TV show to treat the audience equally in the amount of nudity that gets presented for their delectation, let alone to favour the women.

But the audience split is apparently about 60/40 male to female. Given that for the most part women don't mind female nudity, and male nudity makes a larger proportion of men uncomfortable, if you were to poll an audience and ask if they were in favour of female and male nudity, the female result would be much higher. I don't see why its crap to female nudity sells, its a reality of human nature and something obviously going to be taken advantage of in shows.

A bit irrelevant but any chance someone could tell me what this joke is all about? :pac: it's from Arya's actress and it's all over my twitter feed, I just don't get it :P

It's not so much that women don't mind female nudity uncomfortable, as much as that they've no chance of avoiding it if they want to watch shows which are not specifically aimed at women, it's not so much 'a reality of human nature' as 'a reality of the film and TV that we're accustomed to viewing'. If male nudity was as common men would just have to get used to it too. I understand completely that GOT is just taking advantage of this, I get that bit. It's just I'd prefer if they didn't, it's not something that ruins my enjoyment of the show and it's something I'm very well used to, but ideally it'd be different.

Also, it's hard to compare the two.

If you were to have a scale of how people perceive nudity from least shocking to most it would go like:
    Topless men
    Topless women
    Bush
    Full frontal male
    Full frontal female

Maybe in some enlightened time in the future they'll be able to have full penetration on screen and people won't be arsed but right now they're working within TV culture and western society as a whole which skews things.

As long as the nudity isn't negatively impacting on the show I don't think it's really a problem.

I'd have full frontal male as more shocking that full female, there's a reason it's hardly on telly as often.

I distinguished between "bush" and proper full frontal female nudity.
Usually the camera is angled in such a way that suggests female privates are just a little fuzzy patch and nothing more.

Full female nudity is the only thing we haven't seen on GoT I think?

Oh it's definitely accurate and their coyness around male nudity can be pretty annoying.

Just had a read of the non-book readers thread and that's some bizarre behaviour. The person isn't even being subtle about it! when people are making 'predictions' like that and spelling all the names and places right it's definitely dodgy.

The alarm bells should have went off when somebody, whose predictions were very accurate, referred to Yara Greyjoy as Asha. Clearly a book reader.. It's pretty sad, ruining the story just so they can seem like they know the story inside out.

She was naked in season 3 when old Daario walked in on her having a bath. I'd say if the story calls for it the directors can get her in the nip again.

Didn't she say she wasn't gonna be nude again?

I know somebody already mentioned that. I was confusing the seasons but that's the scene I was thinking of that's supposedly her last.

I honestly don't think they can get her to appear naked again if she refuses. They're hardly going to turn around and fire her. Even if it's absolutely necessary that her character appear nude (doubtful) they still can avoid showing her breasts.

Just out of interest what do people class as full female nudity? Legs open? Or shaved such as Roario Dawson in "Trance"?

I don't think anything needs to be shaved for it to count as full nudity. It's different with full frontal male as it's a little easier to see what's down there.

Also I vote for more nude Jamie, and Oberyn. Wouldn't mind more nude Jon Snow either, although I'm less pushed. :)

Jon hasn't appeared nude at all yet. The scene where he jumps into the pool with Ygritte is a body double.

    More nude Jon body double!

Daarios nude scene was a bit of a let down, bum cheeks and chest, Ptuh. Jaimes bath scene was better.

Same poster said they had read the first two books. Now that doesn't necessarily exonerate them but people love to get suspicious and stick to the bits that back that up, ignoring what doesn't. Mr. Poison saying Tyrion would get off, Mr. Asha saying he read the first 2 books. If we say nothing nobody in there takes it as fact. Some idiot gets his "internet hero" kick. Big deal. Just leave it.

I agree, I am in favour of more delicious naked men generally.

I found Daario's stripping very meh - I think it should have made me go "oooh, yes please" whereas I was more "nah, put them back on again".

Enough perving from me, I think. Apologies, regular discussions may continue.

I want to see Tyrion, The Hound and Brienne nude. Preferably in a two on one sex scene but not absolutely necessary. Make it happen hbo.

Anyone else feel like the Jaime/Tyrion discussion was an opportunity missed to remind show-watchers about Tysha and what happened to her.

Obviously I'm not certain if 'Wherever whores go' will be cut or not, but they did mention Tysha in season one in Tyrion's conversation with Shae and Bronn. And in season 3 when Tywin proposed the marriage to Sansa, didn't Tyrion reply by saying something like ''I was married once, or don't you remember?'

When he told Jaime 'I fell in love with a whore' referring to Shae, they could have stuck a reminder in to catch people up.
I thought that Tyrion was going to say something like "I should have learned my lesson the first time" and Jamie would look very uncomfortable.
