It begins imminently! Very strange hearing the Australian national anthem being sung before a game. But when's the last time a game was played at a more convenient time in Ireland than in the States!

    Play ball!

I know I'm sitting here and thinking I could get used to this.

Yeah, a great way to start a Saturday. The game itself wasn't great but it was great to have real games back.

Are there more injuries this season compared to other years or are they just happening to higher profile players or getting reported more? Every team seems to have a load of players out but I can't remember is this season any different to others.

Probably about the same amount of injuries it just has happened to higher profile players.

Reds are going to be suffering jet-lag on Opening day.....the broke camp on Thursday, flew to Florida to play their AA affiliate lastnight, which was rained out.....flew to Kentucky this morning to play their AAA affiliate (which is likely to be rained out also)....will fly to Cincinnati tonight.

They've done a couple of thousand extra miles travelling and played no baseball, instead of being back in Cincinnati relaxing ahead of monday's game.

Getting the excuses in early Ollie?

Only joking, but if there is one bunch of athletes able to get off a plane and play a game in a different time zone, it's baseball players. At least they'll be practiced for when they finish a home stand during the season and have to hop on a plane and play in LA or san Francisco the next day. And they've all day tomorrow to rest and or even take BP at the stadium. They'll be fine come game time, don't worry about that.

Reds will place 7 players on the DL today to start the season.....3 non-roster players will make the team, and 1 rookie.....they only have 1 player likely to go on the 60 day DL, so they'reo cut 2 players from the 40 man roster......there's going to be a couple of good prospects on the waiver wire by this afternoon

Going to multiple games in a home stand is great. You get to try different food, beers etc. and you'll discover new stuff or things to see as the week goes by. I hope you've got seats in different parts of the ground so you can vary it up a bit.

I know there are a million other things to do in Vegas much more exciting than watching baseball but if you're not all baseball-ed out by the time you get there and you need a break from losing money at the blackjack tables, the 51s have a couple of good MLB ready pitchers in Noah Syndegaard and Rafeal Montero so if they're at home and either of them are scheduled to pitch, it'd be nice to see them play and when they're in the majors and winning Cy Youngs (he says in hope!), you can say you saw them when they were in the minors. I still harp on about the time i saw Buster Posey in a Winter league game in 2008 (of course I didn't have a clue who he was at the time and only realised I had seen him play when I just happen dot look at the box score of the game I was at a few years later).

Yeah Denver looks like a lot of fun, booked a nice apartment on capitol hill on Airbandb for 2 weeks.
Looks likes there is lots to do and lots of pubs and good restaurants there.

    .

I have only booked the first day so far $39.
Im just going to go up to the gate every other day.
I think ill have a few beers in the pub before the game as there mostly on around 6pm plus not going to pay $12 for piss beer in the stadium.

Are you confident today? Your guys have smacked Wainright around lst season I think you'll get your opening day win today.

On a side note, opening day is on the bucket list. Have never managed to make it to one yet!

I'm always confident.....they're good enough to beat any team out there.....especially if Cueto pitches like all-start Cueto and not that other head-case (7IP, 3H, 0R, 9K against the Angels on Opening day last year)

Reds seems to have a mental block when it comes to beating the Cardinals, they always find a way to lose, but as you said, Wainright was the exception to that last year.

Not very good planning by Mets 2B Daniel Murphy. His wife's gone into labour so he misses today's game. i don't know if she's gone early or what but if this is a routine pregnancy, did he not think the dates through 9.5 months ago? It's opening day!

As I said earlier.....opening day in Cincinnati is something special. School attendance is terrible, half of the city's residents miss work "sick", restaraunts give away free food, you walk into any store or business and every employee is in Reds gear.

No offense to any other baseball city......but Cincinnati is the home of opening day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭rockonollie

Great start to the year for the Brewers......Carlos Gomez singles to LF, advances to 2nd on the bobble by Upton.....then for some reason decides to go for 3rd when Upton already has the ball in his hand ready to throw.......thrown out at 3rd with about 15 feet to spare.

Given up 6 hits including a homerun to Grady Sizemore, who's now 2 for 2.

And he's given up a hit to Papi which almost never happens.

Whoops, make that 7 hits now.

76 pitches to get 11 outs.

  • Site Banned Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭MilanPan!c

Pedroia almost hit one out on a 12 pitch at bat. Tillman is basically done. Ortiz almost hit one out as well.

    Orioles bullpen now warming up.

96 pitches and we're still in the 5th.

    And he's walked Napoli.

    Here comes pitch 100.

The Yankees will allow up to 10 proposals at one game, jesus it wouldn't exactly feel special would it!
