At least it's no longer a carpark anyway. What's with the indent near the top of the lamp standards? Please don't say these are for cctv!

A light fitting will slot in there I would imagine.

    Have they done it up?

Well, no. I mean clearing out the front of the station and opening it all up has done wonders for the hotel.

Parnell Street has improved a good bit in recent years, nice to see, it was an eyesore for anyone coming out of the train station. Still plenty of work to be done!

Especially the old flats facing the green area!

Is there any plans in the pipeline for those?

They've been purchased by the housing charity Cluid and they're going to be refurbished. That was supposed to start last January, but there was an issue with the deeds on one unit holding it up. This had been resolved so construction should start sooner rather than later. http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/home/205812/Hyde-Road-works-in-Limerick-to.html

    The plans are here.

Would be nice to see the block from the station towards Sexton Street redeveloped as well. It's so much more visible now that the petrol station is gone.

Are the buses being moved in front of the station?.. eventually?
    Or staying where they are?..
It looks lovely just can't see what the plan is!

No a new bus station will be built to the left of the railway station instead of the right hand side at present and i beleive there will be access provided from the gate on the roxboro rd as well which makes perfect sense

Is the bus station being built while it's being redeveloped now or is it being done at a later date?

Is car parking still available during the reconstruction ?

    Yes

The money hasn't been set aside for the station yet.

Phase 1 is practically done. They're just finishing off the minor touches now such as seating.

Phase 2 will commence when the funding becomes available but I'm not sure when that will be.

They really fecked up with those lamp standards at the front. They look hideous and detract from the building. Otherwise the work is good.

The work so far differs from the plans which shows that the area formerly occupied by the petrol station would become a taxi set down. It seems to be configured as a disabled car park at the moment. Maybe they'll removed that when the bus station has moved from its current area?

Tender has been awarded for "Limerick Colbert Station Development Project - Phase 1" today.

It may have been updated today but phase 1 started a year ago and is basically finished.

It has and I dont think there is an official drop off area anymore

I've been thinking that they may reconfigure the small car park where the Shell station was into a drop off when the new carpark (current site of bus station) is fully finished. Just a theory though.

There is a sign in that section saying setdown area. It is a small sign and also not a nice walk on a wet day.

Any word on the funding for the station building itself?
