Man wasn't cancelled, it was diverted to PIK though resulting in the inbound flight being delayed.

    False flight status on Flightradar24.

Be careful, flightradar has been cancelling alot of flights instead of diverting them lately,

No word on the summer schedule being finalised yet? Very late in the year, by this time last year they were finalised nearly a month.

Are Ryanair adding Cardiff Snn route? I noticed on the fare finder section SNN-CWL option.

They have been doing one-off flights for the rugby, tis why it's in the booking system

Jet makes unscheduled landing at Shannon (Clare Herald)

A holiday jet has been forced to make an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport this evening.

The Thomas Cook Airlines flight 5828 was travelling from the Tenerife to Oslo when the crew declared a medical emergency shortly before 8 o’clock.

There were almost 400 passengers and crew on board the Airbus A330-300 jet.

The crew reported they had an ill passenger on board who had been assessed by a doctor. It’s understood the doctor recommended that the crew divert and land as soon as possible.

What part of their holes are the Shannon management scratching?

Why the sour grapes over Knock Airport’s new flybe routes to Edinburgh and Birmingham?

Shannon had those routes too and lost them, but they did manage to regain the Birmingham one.

Fair play to Knock for getting them, that's not at all my point. Nothing seems to be happening at SNN lately though!

Don't think it's sour grapes. I think the point is how can Shannon not get new services like this. Edinburgh or Glasgow service is badly needed, not being able to get to Scotland from there is just crazy.

I'm finding I'm using Shannon less and less as flying via LHR is only option for so many destinations and the extra cost / delay against driving two hours to DUB is just not worth it.

Yeah well done to the Knock mgt on securing such routes.

That being said it seems so odd that the ROI's third biggest airport can't even secure such important routes to Scotland..or any other major European hub for that matter. Like literally no announcements or anything new (aside from bigger a/c etc)

NUIG President says hotel management merger will boost tourism (Connacht Tribune)

The President of NUI Galway says the university’s merger with the world-renowned Shannon College of Hotel Management will further boost the West of Ireland’s thriving tourism industry.

Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan is today marking the official incorporation of Shannon College into NUI Galway at the Shannon Airport-based institution.

The merger will see the hotel management college become part of NUI Galway’s School of Business.

The integration also means that NUI Galway will become the first Irish university to have a school devoted to the tourism industry.

Knock has the advantage of an existing relationship with flybe basically.

Anyway I wouldn't be worrying as snn-edi is returning, watch this space is all I say

Dublin Airport seem to be doing a big media push down around here recently. Full page adds in the Champion over the last few weeks. And pushing Ethiad flights on Clare FM by giving free holidays to Abu Dhabi.

Haven't Shannon been doing advertising as far as west Dublin? Maybe they should step up this campaign.

Not a noticeable one imo. Lots and lots of companies still in the area. Very sad news though, I personally know people working there.

Sunway will be using seats on EIs Friday FAO next summer, might be a factor behind the increase in service by EI.

Menorca was never exactly a target market from SNN anyway.

Seriously though, very disappointing preformence from SNN as of late. NOC, ORK and DUB all with great 2016's ahead, and even with a EDI service SNN will not have much of a year!

With the wx diversions tonight, I'm reminded of this link I found recently, has the weather record for diversions away from Shannon owing to weather. Just 14 in 2014. http://www.shannonairport.ie/gns/business/WeatherRecord.aspx

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,109 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Had 1 diversion due to wind today, not bad considering Shannon got either the highest or near it of the gusts today.
FR1183 diverted to Liverpool after 2 go-around in extremely windy and gusty conditions. It returned to Shannon about 30mins ago.
