Flights appear to start on the 16th of March and not the 28th as has been reported.

No Saturday flight either, a little disappointing. Why not take out the Wednesday flight?

Wonder would Ryanair ever consider the hub airports that they now have slots to from SNN. Like AMS or CDG (reported today they have slots for Charles de Gaulle today), Barcelona etc.

Surely CDG would perform far better than Beauvais. Just out of curiosity.....

Saturday is apparently the quietest day for travelling, traditionally anyway

In time but only if they get enough slots as they will have other cash cows at the top of the list, it would be a much better bet than BVA though. I do expect they will add BCN at least also

Any idea when the Ryanair schedule will actually release their Shannon schedule? There's several gaps in the current schedule, will there be any new routes?

Jet returns to Shannon with engine problem (Clare Herald)

A charter jet made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport this evening after the crew was forced to shut down one of the aircraft’s engines.

The Boeing 767-200 plane, operated by US based Polaris Aviation Solutions, had left Shannon a short time earlier and was about 20 minutes into its flight to Bangor in the US when the crew declared an emergency.

The pilot informed air traffic controllers that he had shut down of the aircraft’s two engines after receiving an indication of an oil leak.

McEvaddy brothers considered third-party funding (Irish Times)

Aviation entrepreneurs the McEvaddy brothers considered seeking funds from third-party investors to help their Irish business tackle its cash flow and financial problems, it has emerged.

Annual returns just filed by Ulick and Desmond McEvaddy’s Omega Aviation Services show that it lost €1.7 million last year and had a deficit of €9.36 million on December 31st.

Dublin- and Shannon-based Omega maintains and overhauls aircraft engines, supplies spares and leases the craft themselves. Its customers are both commercial and military and include the US navy.
It's amazing to see that there is a market for parts of B707 and DC-10 aircraft.

What a random tidbid.... Joe Biden had a mass said at the airport last Tuesday during a stopover
    http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/ireland/article1644564.ece
A SPECIAL mass was organised at Shannon Airport for Joe Biden, the American vice-president, when Air Force Two stopped to refuel in Ireland last week en route to Washington from Ukraine.

The mass was timed to coincide with Biden’s stopover so he could observe the Catholic holy day of obligation for the Immaculate Conception on December 8.

According to an interview with Biden by the news agency Bloomberg, a special “short-program mass” was arranged at short notice for the vice president and his entourage in the airport chapel.

Biden’s short visit went unnoticed by Irish media last week, although Bloomberg reports he is a regular visitor to Shannon.

While many foreign dignitaries stop to refuel at the airport while travelling between America and Europe, many do not disembark during the enforced stopover. Biden, however, is said to enjoy “meandering shopping trips” and meeting locals whenever he passes through Shannon....

It seems that there were two government aircraft transiting through Shannon on the 8th.

The Chicago Tribune has a full free background article regarding Joe Biden’s (Vice President) stopover too.

Speaking of the other candidates running for President, Donald Trump is turning into a liability for Shannon’s ambitions to grow golf tourism in the West of Ireland.

Trump has already got a rebuke from the PGA (Professional Golfers Association) for his anti Mexican immigration spat.

Random question but does anyone here follow TomWhelan19 or jameszysull on twitter? Constantly posting absolute garbage about SNN it's actually getting annoying to read. Every post SNN tweets that tomwhelan lad just comments (e.g under their Santa flights). Social media is a very powerful tool!!

    That's me.....

No seriously I'm joking, bet I might regret posting this :D

Tom Whelans posts on the Cork Boston route are quite amusing :) "And what is cork airport doing to make sure it happens?"

Sure why not hold the US authorities by ransom, or have a nice dinner dance :)

Keep taking the tablets of delusion? Maybe someone should take their own advice :)

Seriously though it's nothing new. Remember the 737/777/worker at SNN/astronaut called Stevie lenihan(?) who posted on here?

Shannon Airport air traffic down -9.2% for November (IAA).

If you ever read his posts all he's able to do is post about the aircraft models. Has no idea on the whole routing & scheduling concept or yield. An airline pulls a route and he abuses them on Twitter is hilarious.

As for that Tom fella, well he hasn't an absolute clue. But thanks for that, it's time for Twitter mute for both of them I think!

Jamie, we know it's not you anyway cause they're forever digging at Dublins success also ;)

Staff at Aer Lingus Cargo worried for their jobs...
    http://clareherald.com/2015/12/fears-for-future-of-aer-lingus-cargo-at-shannon-37319/
Concern has been expressed about the further of Aer Lingus’ cargo operation at Shannon Airport following confirmation that it will undergo a review in the new year.

Clare General Election candidate Richard Cahill has said workers have been contacting him fearing the operation is under threat and their jobs could be lost.

Aer Lingus has confirmed that it will undertake the review in 2016 but said it’s not possible to speculate on the outcome.

International Airlines Group (IAG), headed by former Aer Lingus boss Willie Walsh, completed a successful take-over of the Irish carrier earlier this year.

Mr Cahill says IAG and Aer Lingus have questions to answer and should come clean on their plans for cargo operations at Shannon.

“The cargo facility has been put under performance review for the first quarter of 2016 and staff have told me they are feeling decidedly nervous about this situation despite recent records showing that Shannon is a more financially efficient operation than its Dublin counterpart,” he said.

    IAG
IAG says Aer Lingus is responsible for it’s own operations.
In a letter to AG’s UK & Ireland regional commercial manager, Mr Cahill said: “Staff have enquired as to the reason for the three month review, especially on foot of the recent internal announcement of the superior efficiency of the Shannon operation, but IAG have not answered.

In fact it appears to the staff that Shannon management may not know the reason for the review. Workers fear for their jobs despite repeated assurances during the IAG take-over,” he said.

Mr Cahill has said he seen communications from Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh to Minister Gerald Nash, dated May 27th, as well as emails from Mr Kavanagh dated June 2nd. All of these communications seek clearly to assure staff of the security of their tenure of employment while seeking shareholder approval.

Mr Cahill has called on IAG to “clarify to the relevant Shannon based IAG staff that the upcoming review will not have any effect on their tenure of employment, therein allowing them to have a peaceful Christmas.”

“This is the least they deserve and no worker should have to worry about whether they will lose their job especially so close to Christmas. IAG and Aer Lingus should come out now and state their intentions for the cargo operation at Shannon Airport,” he added.

An Aer Lingus spokesman said: “Aer Lingus will review its cargo operations at Shannon next year. We constantly review all aspects of our business from commercial and operational point of view, across all of our bases.”

“The outcome of the review at Shannon is not pre-determined and it is not possible to speculate any further,” the company added.

IAG has previously stated: “Under IAG’s structure, Aer Lingus, as with all the airlines in the Group, is responsible for its own operation .”

I'm sure the review would of been on the radar with or without IAG coming on stream. Would be very surprised if they fully closed the operator if its profitable however there could be room for some cuts to take place.

Contracting TD's is bother line pathetic for anything to do with job losses or anything really. As we always said EI is a business at the end of the day not a company to guarantee lifetime jobs.

Look, I know this is just some two bob politician hawking for votes but some people actually believe this sort of rubbish. It's a nice idea and all but it's just not realistic in the private sector. Jobs will always be on the line somewhere and Christmas is no different to any other time in this regard. These aren't protected public sector jobs anymore, IAG are a private company and have to do what is best for the company and its shareholders. Company staff at Shannon will have to accept that they are no longer immune to this sort of situation.

Ryanair will be running an extra Paris Beauvias flight for the Euro 2016 Ireland vs Sweden game on the 13th June

    12th June
Depart SNN 16:30 Arrive BVA 19:05

    14th June
Depart BVA 21:35 Arrive SNN 22:15

The extra flight means that there will be 2 paris flights on the 14th of June, with the scheduled one arrive just 1 hour and 20 mins earlier into SNN at 20:55.

Not big news, but news nonetheless.

Shannon Airport website still showing the EI SNN-LHR services as using the
A 319. Does anyone ever take a look at these details or bother about them?

A319 is probably still buried in some timetable somewhere that FR24 gets it's data from

In fact if you book connections through some sites, BA and United being two, it still shows SNN-LHR as an A319 service. I'd imagine this will get ironed out in the next season change in March...

The UK Airport Provisional Statistics for November.

The overall total UK figures are up +0.2% as against the same month from last year.

The SNN-LHR A320 service seems to be working (+12%). :)

Birmingham LF: 69% (Figure will be slightly higher, my figure is assuming all flights ran, which they didn't)
    Stansted LF: 77%
    Heathrow LF: 61%
    Gatwick LF: 82%

Not so bad, Heathrow has passed out Stansted again as NO.1 UK route.
