This guy can't even stay at the front of a bunch in the build up to a sprint so I hope he is kept well away from Sam in the big races

I'd say Sam and Cav will have very different schedules next year. I don't imagine
they'll be in many races together.

There's nothing to suggest that Cav can get anywhere near the level required nowadays at the front of the race .
His last few seasons have been very poor and he has been extremely lucky to get his previous contract with Bahrain McLaren. He has had his time in the limelight but the younger guys are much faster and motivated .

I'd say he's probably working for room and board.

I'd imagine Cav is there as a mentor really, will be on minimum wage but that his previous relationship with Specialised will have played a part in this move.

I've love to see Cav finish with a few more wins.
He's done as a top level sprinter but has the talent and craft to get a result or two yet.
Pro teams are advertisements for their sponsors and Cav gets publicity no matter what...

I think mentioned on this thread or another one when he raced in the Saudi Tour before the lock down he was instrumental in getting Phil Bauhause the GC. It wasn't down to great legs but experience and making good calls on the road. If he can bring more of that to the table then he could be a worthy asset in a team.

His shape after lock down though was questionable at best. There was no case to be made for him riding the tour.

    Shape after lockdown?
More like his shape for about 4 years now. The Middle Eastern tours are about as relevant as a pre season friendly

In fairness to Cav, it's more illness than attitude that's been his problem, surely?

He made the front echelon in De Panne, only to be taken out by a crash - you weren't making that split without some form and motivation, if people remember the day that was in it!

The old kit was very hard to pick out and looked like different teams from front and behind so this is an improvement without being anything amazing

I hope the Movistar kit is different for 2021 - it's mad similar.

They actually had a competion during lockdown to design a jersey and raise fuds for something. Not sure if they ever raced in it this year though. Pity as I quite liked it.

Official Ireland knows who he is now... Sam has a 2 page fluff piece in the Christmas RTE Guide :)

TG4 have a 30 minute special on Sam and TDF 2020 at 8pm on December 22nd.

Great watch I have to say.
And a great quote to finish up with.

‘Everything you want is outside your comfort zone. Work hard enough and anything is possible’ - Sam Bennett
Tour de France green jersey winner.

Sam needs to understand he was the best sprinter in 2020 and God willing will be the best in 2021

I would have said at the beginning of the year and last year, that he was more tactically aware and better at timing but in a flat out sprint, the two together, Bennett beats him hands down. This year though, now that Bennett has grown in confidence, which was his only issue, he is flat out the better sprinter.

glad to hear.why do they not put a team member or two on Sams back wheel in final sprint to block Caleb or other sprinters getting onto to his wheel or is that not practical,

Watching Ewan doing Bennett a few times this year I wonder is Bennett suited to riding for the dominant sprint team in the peleton.Viviana hasnt figured since he left so obviously it suited him .I think it suited Bennett to track the dominant team rather them be that target himself.Think the jury is out which suits him best, I hope he has a great 2021 .
