I was bored so I priced that team up, and it will cost at least £107m. I doubt anybody has that at this stage of the season

As I said, something similar to that, meaning probably downgrading on Terry, and Toure quite substantially.

I've 2 weeks to piss about with it, but would like at least 7 or 8 of that XI :)

On the defence discussion above, would people generally think this is too much to spend on defence/gk when primarily setting out to play 343.

    De Gea, Lewis
    Coleman, Dawson, Johnson, Terry, Clyne.

when glen johnsons fit I think its time to offload mig. DDG and glen johnson should outscore mig and vidic. Alternatively toure at 5.0 is a cheaper way to get pool defensive coverage.

Btw, I am still not that trusting of Man U defence generally. What do you think about Lloris as a keeper option, allowing Dawson to be replaced with Johnston?

The most valuable team is £109.4m, but 20 transfers made in 7 gameweeks. The second most valuable team is 109.3m, but 34 transfers made.
I'm on 106.8m at the moment, but if I sold all my players right now, my bank balance would only be £103.1m.

ye lloris is definetly an option. This is the first season I ever recall spurs looking solid defensively. Utd havent looked great yet but I reckon they will tighten up and personally I want to have defensive coverage from them. Im thinking my transfer this week will be boruc( 4 CS on the bounce for me:eek:) to DDG which will mean Ill be doubling up on utd at the back for the next 2 weeks Home to southampton and stoke. Hopefully johnson is fit in 2 gws time and Ill do vidic to johnson then.

Those teams are only competing for the most valuable team. You will almost certainly be ahead of their score.

The way they transfer lately, that's true.
I came 2nd in the world 4 years ago for the most expensive team.
Also finished inside the top 100k.
Those were days before totalfpl and fiso were used as much as now.
I'm not afraid of taking a 4-8 point hit any week as long as the calculated net gains look in my favour. i.e. a form player up against weak opposition etc. and that he might be good for a few weeks.
As everyone here states, its a marathon not a sprint.
Nothing wrong with taking a transfer hit or two if it improves your team overall over time!

I usually wait 'til after internationals but pulled the trigger early this time, brought in Terry and Rooney which leaves me with some spare cash if needed in GW9 (Moses is heading for the door)

I had a quick look at my team there and I don't know what I was thinking talking about a 20 point hit earlier in the week.

If I could change a few defenders I would but Vidic, Kos and Coleman all have good fixtures. Turner may fall to 1st sub but then again he scored away to Arsenal last season I think. Hangeland is a man I'd like to ship out and Clyne looks appealing but don't need to make that move this week, even though I want him gone. As for Ben Davies I'll have wait for Ashley Williams to get fit too before I should entertain bringing him in.

I'm glad I took a few days away from the game and will probably do it again with half an eye on the internationals.

Any potential early captains for the next GW?

I'll be captaining Suarez against a dodgey Newcastle who are leaking goals but Lukaku is in the back of mind too!!

Having just looked at the fixtures, I'll be on Rooney at home to Souhtmapton

Southampton who are keeping clean sheets for fun and United who have been shocking so far this season?

Rooney, AJ (probably tongue in cheek)- vs Soton (h)
    Suarez, Studge - Newcastle - (a)
Giroud, Ozil, Ramsey - Norwich (h)
    Lukaku, Baines - Hull (h)
    Oscar, Hazard - Cardiff (h)
    Michu - Sunderland (h)

    to name a few :pac:

Fúck that... UTD are not banging them in against anyone so far this season, and while i do see a win for Utd at home Southampton are arguably the best team in the league defensively so far so i wouldn't be expecting a field day there! Ill be looking at shipping Rooney out for Benteke the next gameweek to be honest! Until Utd start looking like a serious goal scoring unit again im not too concerned about having zero cover from them! much better value out there right now! That's not to say Rooney/RVP wont have their days but at their prices i would be hoping for a bit more consistency!

Prob captain Sturridge away to Newcastle. Giroud is a possibility but not as appealing right now, Norwich havent impressed me so I'd expect a comfy win for us.

Take your point about The Saints defence but Manchester United are due to give someone a hammering, and I think it could well be Southampton!

That United game looks like another potential West Brom if you ask me. Southampton wont be afraid of United

Possibly Ramsey v Norwich for Captain.
Lukaku v Hull for Vice Captain.
Then knowing the way my luck goes Sturridge will go crazy against The Toon.

For that to happen you're relying on two teams going totally against the form they've shown over last month. Very unlikely so why take the risk?

    Whats your move here?

Ward Prose is deadweight but not sure moving him for another bench warmer is using my transfer to the best.

Transferring him out for Januzaj would have been the obvious choice for me. He has shown great potential and saved United from an embarrasing defeat. Even if he was only kept as a temporary bench warmer, his spike in popularity would have meant a nice increase in team value, and consequently funds when sold again in a few weeks time.

Liverpools fixtures are so decent it's almost a shame. My bigger concern was shipping out Mirallas, who by all means looks like a decent assist partner for Lukaku but lacks goal scoring threat. Moses will get another gameweek's consideration in the meantime, since nobody is really standing out to me as the obvious choice anyways.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

Mirallas was banging them in pre-season, making myself and a number of others include him in their GW1 squad. He's basically a striker play OOP, but just hasn't got the returns yet. He definitely doesn't lack goal scoring threat and is still on my watchlist

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 9 October Swimmer

I can't get behind the Mirallas enthusiasm - just dont see the goals or assists anywhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,469 ✭✭✭P.Walnuts

Ye I was on the Miralles train early on too as he was bound to play up higher with Martinez....

I'm thinking of maybe Sessegnon for Moses, he is the main fulcrum up front now to a decent team

Any thoughts on bringing in Vidic?
