    So this happened :o

    2cfvcox.jpg

Foolish ol me wasnt looking at what i was doing while taking the water pump out and i paid dearly for it, a screw head snapped and the remaining bit is still in the block, so, while getting an unholy slagging from the two other lads every 5 other minutes, I took the bottom end out, and we'l carry on from here :o

A Daewoo Matiz can always be improved by a direct hit from a rocket launcher

Ive actually contemplated it many times today, along with, setting it on fire, scrapping it, kicking it, pulling the engine out by force, taking a consaw to it, and various other things

Today I was wiping oil away from the engine bay of the neighbours car. Topped it up for him last weekend, unknowingly putting the cap on incorrectly. Drives car during the week and up pops the cap, along with loads of steam and oil. Not the first time I've done that either!

Have had a problem with headlight condensation in one of my headlights for some time. The inside of the headlight had been dried out but the inside of light was all water marked. Bit the bullet today after some videos online that involved splitting the headlight with a heat gun, which I dont have, or putting the thing in the oven!

Front wheels off, wheel arch liners out, headlight washer covers off, bumper off, headlight out.

The headlight on the kitchen table and just worked my way around the seal, no heat was actually needed and managed to get it opened up.

Found a crack where the moisture was likely getting in and sealed it. Light cleaned, then resealed and now back in car. Bumper and wheels still need to go back on tomorrow but so far so good.

Hopefully that's it sorted. Probably only me that would ever notice the water marks in the first place!

    :)

I had planned to do what should have been a 15 minute job by changing out the worn steering idler arm of my Navara.

Even after having liberally applying penetrating spray lat night and again this morning the bolts were ceased tight. As I had plans for the day I let it as it was and will go at it Monday evening with the torch to heat them free.

Has this in the wrong thread so moved it here.

So today I painted the disc centres on the driver's side before they got proper rusty.

Here's what they were like the day they went on:

    15B36A12342345C4A83F60EF65FB5E33-0000372590-0003725347-00800L-2D960E4C2F70439BB93CCBD082540509.jpg

And after 1 week of water:

    E7F5A2EB6454497BB489CB2BD7FEFD29-0000372590-0003731245-00800L-24AE40EB83DA463A8833104262017386.jpg

    A small bit of sanding:

    1DC6C8061DC84B68A5ED0831105C2CBE-0000372590-0003731244-00800L-B627B173E1EB4BB48CF2233B3035BAAA.jpg

    Front sprayed:

    51828D47CB07454CBDD9970EF55318FC-0000372590-0003731241-00800L-281E6ACE79C34CB2B3870A059647C199.jpg

    Rear:

    E4193E34AF384EEBBEB4319297626DC1-0000372590-0003731240-00800L-6E5551B473884DC59E7E5BB9FC5AA12B.jpg

The calipers will be getting a touch up in coming months, rust looks awful!

Thanks to sean1141 for getting all the paint for me! :D

Looks well, the rust makes them look terrible but painting them only last so long unless an anti rust paint is used that is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,854 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

It's Hammerite direct to rust paint. I used it on the discs that these ones replaced and it lasted about a year and a half until I replaced them.

Mine had heavy surface rust on them, I took them back to bare metal and painted them with regular aerosols. 12 months on and the rust was back again. Still they do look well when they are freshly painted. :)

After coming home a little past midnight, opened the front passenger side door and tried to open the window, as it did not open about half an hour before that. Instead of normally sliding down, it just dropped down. Mind=blown, and it was obviously dark and all, so I covered the door with some plastic until the morning.

    16425719250_68099309fb_c.jpg

Took off the door panel. Turns out, the glass is only held up with just two whatchacallits. Snapped it back into place and was able to wind it up to the top.

    15992972423_c2e4e681cb_c.jpg

Then it was time to put everything back in place.

    15990551974_3764e45c3b_c.jpg

    Tadah!

Surely beats opening something up, not knowing what's going on and closing it up with tears in your eyes.
