They're not bad really, patches more than anything. What I've found though is that you spray on the substance, then vacuum it off, then when it dries, only patches seem to have been cleaned, almost making it look worse than before. What degree of 'wetness' are we looking for in general?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Do the whole section of the seat that you are trying to clean - so if the stain is on the driver seat base, then do the whole base - otherwise you will be left with a bigger patch, and then a bigger patch if you go at that, etc, etc, each time its drying with a new tide line / cleaner area....so the whole thing and be done with it! ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

Yes do the whole section as Curran describes. Seats get really dirty even if they look reasonably clean. The dirt gets embedded and only after using a good cleaning solution will it travel to the surface. That's when the real cleaning starts.

Whatever you go for, make sure that it is low foaming.

    Any particular reason why?

High foaming is harder to vacuum out fully, and if you dont it will end up attracting dirt, possibly smell bad and if it gets wet, it will foam up again.

    As in toxic?
We used a can before and it seemed OK at tar removing

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Ohhh its great for removing tar!!!

....and whitening dark trim and softening the paint. Its far too aggressive; safer products that are as effective!
As its an aerosol, it goes everywhere.

Oh don't talk to me about that crap, don't know how it's still there. Sprayed it on a panel, dried instantly into a white haze. Would it hell come off, rubbing for ages to get it off. Disaster.

There's a fair drop gone out of that demon shine too. I like it though as a quick detailer, still half a bottle here.

Not nearly enough microfibre clothes. I've got in excess of 60, at the last count :D

Wait until you start priming your toothbrush with toothpaste! And polishing the hob using the zenith method!

I started out with loads, but as always I lose most of them. Need to restock! Forgot to add the toothbrush to that pic actually!

Have loads too but I recently found out that they might be damaging to the paint and I seem to think that for a while too.

I feel like the world's biggest scalper :( but a few 'out of the blue' bills have me selling stuff I reckon I won't need for a while. :o

So I decided to try and shift off some of the Autoglym sets I picked up last year (I'm sure some of ye guys may remember).

Even though I know I'd probably never get around to using them all, I still feel sad to have to sell them. :o

I will take a pack as long as shipping doesn't push the price above the local halfords price... Cos I won't be up your way anytime soon....

Not today but recently I cleaned this filthy leather 166 interior. This will shortly be fitted into my newest 166 but there was no sense in putting them in in such a state! To clean them I used a 1:10 APC:water mix and a soft bristle brush. I needed to go over many sections of the seats multiple times to get the results I want. There is some wear on the seats in spots and no amount of cleaning fixed that :p but what can you do :)

    Nasty, dirty shiny leather

    7EF78CB7B61142FB862BCC38DC29498B-0000363222-0003734290-01024L-3A403248F327479183BB2EC6B9CD75C3.jpg

Bottom section cleaned top still dirty

    A1AB6F8957254883A54389761EDF0B80-0000363222-0003734289-01024L-5F211D1379D2455E8F6EB800FB7D9DDC.jpg

    Clean!

    7EBECB7DB28544D9BFB9ED8A26B14BE0-0000363222-0003734288-01024L-6C95074F770F4A239AFE3D6EA3CF5256.jpg

    50:50 of the back seat

Closeup of the cleaned surface. No longer shiny and wrinkles are much less noticeable as there is no more dirt accumulated in them

Crap photo but before and after of the front seats

    and another one

Again sorry about the crap photo but the bottom section is cleaned and the top as it was still

Can't fix the wear here but can make it clean :)

I have turquoise flavour at the moment but I'm getting sick of it. what other colours/smells do they do?:P

It is good though and the thing about it being so cheap is you don't mind being heavy handed with it if you need to be :)

Started raining this morning so plans to clean the car went out the window. Started to sort out my stuff in the garage and ended up with this:

    6034073

Worse part, i still don't have enough and need some other stuff i've ran of off.

I even built a car wash area onto the back of the driveway when building the house.

Did my first bit of proper car cleaning today. Really enjoyed it!

Picked up this lot from detailingshed.

Very impressed with the Collinite 845 and the 50.Cal really freshened up the interior!

Heh, heh. Seen the third picture of the car and wondered why you took a picture of the sky. Shiney. :D

    Nice job.
