Another crowd of glorified scumbags these. KPMG, PWC, E&Y and others have been part and parcel of covering up bank fraud not only here but everywhere.

Also, the professional accounting exams are designed in such a way that they are impossible for new entrants into this profession to pass. ACCA, CIMA and the Chartered Accountants bodies need ALL to be reformed too. A closed corrupt shop is what the financial sector has become.

    Oh my.

Anyone can sit them yes. Passing them? No. Some of them have an 87% failure rate. I think only those who have a certain mindset can pass them. They are designed in such a way. I am not an accountant or accountancy student now or ever but know friends of mine who were and were repeating their ACCAs over and over and over. They also happen to be honest!!

    No......just...NO!

Actually those lines were removed from the German national anthem years ago due to the ties they had with Nazis. Yup that's another reason for them to be pissed off at us now.

Yep, it's part of the former national anthem.

See that smiley, I used? Since I'm German, I know, that the first two lines were removed after WW2. If you sing those lyrics in public in Germany, you are in trouble with the law.

But nobody in Germany will be pissed off at the Irish, just because of one clown. Believe it or not, the Irish as such are well liked in Germany, no matter, if someone sings dodgy songs over the phone, or others come out with stupid stuff like 'the Germans screwed the Irish'...well, apart from the match in Lansdowne Road last October ;)

The rot is everywhere - through the banks, major companies, public institutions that a purge is badly needed but where even to begin?

From someone who finished college recently, i have observed the students union and "young [insert political party here]" societies and let me tell you, they are licking their lips at the prospect of being the same corrupt junket making "politicians". Not all, but a lot in my experience.

if this was the USA we would see them in an orange jumpsuit by now. Say what you want about them and their politics, but in situations like this, they are swift to punish, attempt to fix and move on.
We just deny everything even with blatant evidence and IF we manage to do anything it will be an inquiry which will take years and millions of euro. Then nothing will change.
Not entirely true... Who is in prison now as a result of the 2008 sub prime mortgage crash... I don't believe any are. They just gave the courts the run around just like here.

    Profligate?
    Extravagate?

Unfortunately, it won't be investigate, interrogate, castigate...

That's funny, as I was out last week to celebrate a friend of mine passing his accountancy exams. I suppose he's part of the elite too? Better drop him a text and let him know about his sudden and dramatic elevation to becoming a member of the shadowy elite.

You are mixing in very shady company Sergeant.
First FG and now acountants. Have you a Banking friend too? :)

Just talking to a mate in Germany, it was in the main evening news as well. Nobody blames the country of Ireland or it's people. No worries there, the people in Germany know, who made the mess :)

Any ideas what will be in tomorrows tapes? Any mention or release or words on it yet?

I'd like to go to the protest but it's going to cost me about 40 quid in transport fees, not to mention a bite to eat and I'm humming and hawing about going or not this evening.

If tomorrows revelations are damning enough I'll go.

When we hear the oft used phrase 'we're all in it together', I used to think it was the period of austerity 'we're all' in these days........ now I'm not sure that's what it means ! Clarification required: Who is it being referred to...... and in what context ?

We're all in the s*it together - it's just that some of us are at the bottom of the pile, and stuck - whereas others are using it as fertiliser to get a better crop?:D

I hope this is not all they can pin on him, from what I can see the penalty would be up to €5,000 or a max of 12 months inside, or both

Fresh questions over Drumm's public statements on bank's finances

If the then bank chief executive's stated opinion differed from his true understanding at the time, it could leave him open to legal action.

Issuing a misleading statement to the Irish Stock Exchange, or in relation to a bank whose shares are traded on the exchange, is an offence under Ireland's market abuse law.

I hope they pin him with every single irregularity they can find - and it still wont be enough for the damage he has done to so many people!

    I'm curious.
Do you have any idea what public opinion in Germany is, about what the Irish people have endured - and will endure - as a result of this?
    I'm just wondering!

Its alive and well and actually responsible for the **** we are in. However they feel a lot less pain. The amazing thing is that even those with not a pot to piss in, act like this upper class while taking it up the rectum from the same class they want to aspire to!

What exactly do you mean? Endured as a result of what? The recession? The mess, left by bankers and bondholders?

Everyone, I'm talking to, like family and friends, think, that the Irish as a nation should not suffer, because some fat cats made balls and neither the old, nor the new government gives a toss about that all.
