their are pre approved causes and demographic groups which are out of bounds for criticism these days , do you deny this ?

Completely. We see boards full of such criticism on a daily basis. Gays, Travellers, Roma, immigrants, people on the dole, people who are pro choice - all criticised relentelssly with the same predictable zeal one equates with a circus performance.

What the right wits (since we're using boogeyman makey uppy terms) are so upset about is they are being challenged for their offensive, usually ill thought out and ignorant remarks. They don't like it, no sirree bob, sir. For years, they and their forefathers before them went unchallenged. So what do they do? Try and turn the argument around - blame all their shortcomings, silliness and inadequacies on the mythical pc brigade and claim they are the real victims - that the pc/do gooders/liberal media are out to get them. That they are not allowed mention or criticise others.

Which is ironic, as they seem to do nothing else.

    Pathetic, innit?

replace the word " challenged " with censored

any thread involving travellers ( for example ) is locked by doctor bollocko within a short time frame

re_ gays , I rarely ever see gays being criticised , the issue of gay marriage is a very current one so that's about state policy , those on the left appear to dislike any kind of debate and want a done deal without delay which is actually counter productive considering a referendum will have to be won by appealing to hearts and minds

personally im ok with gay marriage though I wouldn't rush home to vote on the matter

How would you know "any thread"? You've only just joined? Anyways, I imagine that's an issue about moderation - which (ironically :D) we can't discuss.

You rarely see gays being criticised? Are you being serious? I suggest you spend more time on boards...

I'm not entirely convinced you understand what the word "ironic" means.

Is there a purpose to your crusade against straw men?

Yes, I'm replying to the nonsense the poor, oppressed by the pc brigade brigade are on about.

    What's your excuse?

Things are so complicated these days most people I know, whatever colour/creed/orientation they may be, wouldn't have a glimmer what they're supposed to be offended by without the professionals. I say let 'em at it.

The fact that people are using terms like PC brigade to moan about not being allowed to spout offensive crap any more doesn't mean that there aren't certian people or groups who do hold positions on certain issues which are laughably far beyond common sense.

'herstory' is an example of this, a term which ironically moves to negate the role played by many women in documenting history.

The society of black lawyers' idiotic attempt to portray Roy Hodgson as a racist is another.

Of course there's an element of foolishness there, as well. But to portray people who make a stand against discrimination and it's fellow travellers as freedom of speech snaffling pinko do gooders is just asinine.

its like the term " progressive " , in reality its completely arbitrary yet its a loaded term which was created by the left and they have claimed ownership as to when it applies

whats offensive is nearly always subjective

Or even post without contributing. Anways, jim. So now you see, nothing's out of bounds. All's needed is a bit of common sense and decorum. Is it too much to ask for in this day and age to go without threads asking why is the "n word" offensive?

Isn't it asinine also to deny that there is an element of foolishness there as well? you did so just a few posts ago ,when you characterised people who believe in the PC brigade as people who want to spout offensive slurs.

I wouldn't have had the Progressive Democrats down as "left", myself :D

Progressive, eh? Like the suffragettes; I suppose. Damn that equality!

Or do you mean ELP? I'm a sucker for all that wizards, keyboards and 10 minute drum solos...

Not saying you did. We have another thread somewhere on boards where a number of posters are feigning ignorance about the use of certain racial slurs against Pakistanis and people of Asian origin.

People pretending that "sambo" isn't offensive and so on.

Is pointing out such ignorance really pc?

    Or is just common sense?

    paki is an offensive slur

I wasn't referring to that either

to give you an idea of what I was referring to

travellers have an extraordinarily high rate of incarceration compared to the rest of the country , they also have an incredibly high rate of ( official ) unemployment , try and get into a dialogue about this and the mods act like Vincent browne

It's a nonsense reply to jim jim's nonsensical slating of the idea of progressive and that being progressive is a lefty thing.

Ok, jim. What do you feel is out of bounds to talk about? You've said gay marriage - and I pointed out you're wrong. There's reams of discussion here about it...

The writer should be writing about the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul.
She could get a smaller phone
She says she is 5 2 yet she is standing behind men who are approx on average 8" taller then her.

I just said discussing dysfunctionality amongst travellers is out of bounds unless you are firmly stating its the settled community or the states fault
