Fascism is not right wing. Hitler was very very socialist and advocated strong government intervention into the economy. Take a look at this quote for example, looking around at some of the posters on boards I can't help feel this recession is causing history to repeat itself a great deal. Compare Hitler's speech in 1920 to that of Russell Brand on Jeremy Paxman. The truth is Hitler, his ideology and his party were much more left wing than todays mainstream parties.

In one sentence you say he is black. In the next sentence you say he is not black.

    Again, read very, very carefully.

In one sentence, I said that he was black. In the next sentence, I said that he was not Black.

There are black Irishmen, but they are not Black American.

"No, no, guys, it's right there in the name: National SOCIALISM! So the Nazis were left wing!"

Yeah, no, I'm not reading that. No historian or political scientist worth their salt would ever accept Nazism being left wing. You know why? Because it's not.

Nazism was a right-wing ideology, get over it.
Ah right. Was not aware Black is now a proper noun.

I can't keep up with all the racial musical chairs.

I'm not agreeing with it but it was pretty obvious that Wench was using it as a proper noun.

Do you class Right Wing as racist sectarians, or do you class it on how much state is involved in the economy?

......He refered to "fascism" rather specifically. As Friend Computer has pointed out, no one of any credibility would describe them as left wing. If you want to chase your tail on this one, feel free.

I'm not arguing Hitler was socialist because his party was called national socialism, I'm arguing he was socialist based on his policies. Read his quotes, read up on the origin of the people's car, the strength through joy programme, the free holidays given to workers and the greater role of the state in economic management. Hitler was a capitalist who advocated much greater state intervention in the economy than is common today.

I'm sorry it offends your sensibilities but Hitler was left wing...

I've read John Toland, Alan Bullock and Ian Kershaws works on the subject and I'll repeat that this is just nonsense.

You might as well be. "Some of Hitlers economic policies could be described as socialist = Hitler is a socialist = Hitler is left wing" is the entirety of your argument. Despite some elements of socialism in their economic policies, there's no denying the Nazi party was right-wing nationalism in its purest form.

I'm sorry the facts get in the way of your continued insistence to the contrary but right-wingers can never escape that Hitler was one of them. An extremist to be sure but there's simply no way--and no one besides certain elements of the right, say whatever you want but it's you who is arguing against consensus--who say he's left-wing.

That's a logical fallacy. "I've read X, Y and Z therefore I am more informed than you are therefore I am right." (paraphrasing)

Look at the People's Car programme, look at the Strength through Joy programme, look at the free holidays for workers, the strong emphasis on public works, Keynesian economics, autarkic policies, grossly inflated military sector and expansion of the public service all financed through large scale state deficits.

Hitler wasn't exactly Stalin but he was far more left wing than Fine Gael.

Hitler was only a socialist in the Bertie Ahern sense of the word. Given that Bertie would join the United Irish Unionist Communist party if it'd get him a vote.
Actually now I've just founded that party online, I have a cunning plan.

Luckily I've broadened my horizons since, but returning home I can't say the same for some of my contemporaries.

I have read a large amount on the subject, have amassed a very large amount of information on the subject, and my opinion is far more likely to be right than yours.

The overwhelming thrust of post WWII scholarship, over decades, by inummerable individuals, disagrees with your notion. It is risible, laughable, and composed of the kind of factual cherry picking that characterises authors in the 'Occult Hitler' industry.

Hitler was nationalist on that we can agree on but he was very much left wing nationalist. Not exactly Stalin but he was certainly more left wing than todays main stream parties which I base my assertion on.

Even the freickin' political compass agrees with me. Compare Hitler's position to Fine Gael or Barack Obama

Un huh. You know there are no probabilities in "rightness" it's all perspective. No doubt the Soviets saw Hitler as right wing but he was certainly more left wing than Winston Churchill. Nazi propaganda played up to this, depicting Britain as a corny capitalistic hell hole where the average person lived in abject poverty while gentlemen lived it up in their country mansions. Funnily enough there was more than an element of truth to that.

I was talking with a colleague about Movember. He said he wouldn't do it. I joked that if he did he'd look like a young Saddam Hussein. He's from Pakistan.

It was intended as a joke, but my colleagues later said it could be borderline racist. Personally I don't agree because I know my motives were genuine.

Anyway, I later took him aside and apologised, and he laughed his *rse off at the fact that I was worried it was offensive, and said he didn't even think about it.

I was talking to a friend about a group of Americans we met and he kept calling them coloured. I told him that coloured is a bit old fashioned, he said alright alright "the blacks". Then I said aren't they just Americans?

    This is classic though

Sorry I'll leave the video but before it Pat ask "How did the Japs react to you guys?" They all look at him and say you can't really call them japs anymore and he replies "Ah sure we're micks and ye are yanks."

Ok I dont think I will ever get my head around any of it.

And um... Black Irish refers to an Irish person of a particular colouring that does not mean black in the same way you mean black or Black [still not sure what the distinction is there].

"Black Irish is an ambiguous term sometimes used (mainly outside Ireland) as a reference to a dark-haired phenotype appearing in people of Irish origin.[29] Opinions vary in regard to what is perceived as the usual physical characteristics of the so-called Black Irish: e.g., dark hair, brown eyes and medium skin tone; or dark hair, blue or green eyes and fair skin tone"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_people#Black_Irish

And there are lots of black Americans who are also part Irish.

I'll have to retake Algebra II for this. I seriously cannot keep up.

The classic black Irish look is black hair, pale skin and blue or grey eyes.

    Very attractive in ladies.

Hitler was very much an interventionist regarding the economy so that would classify him as a socialist in today’s world or what have you, he also believed in authoritarian measures against individual liberties, some may classify that as right wing. The jist I think is that Fascism is not only a tenant of the right, its more nuanced than that. He was definitely not a libertarian ;)
