Tell you what , the sales rep for Axa tore the quote I had from 123 apart and pointed out a load of reasons to not be a stingy bastard and pay the extra €20. Then emphasised I was spending local too.

Tbh the level of cover was significantly better

Last year my insurance was 1900, first policy and all that, went back to them there in February, and it was 1100, so I says "well fbd gave me a quote for 700 give me a reason why I shouldn't go to them?" que yer man typing furiously away at the keyboard and he goes, " I can get it down to 800" I was like "hehe that'l do grand"

Went to fbd and they were looking for 1200 for the same type of cover haha

I can't make this one unfortunately due to prior plans but should definitely be able to make future meets.

I got to drive this for the last two weeks. I have to say I was very impressed with it. I was not too happy handing 328bhp back :(

Pics are a bit crappy as I only had my phone.

I rented one last year, it doesnt feel like even close to 300bhp IMO. Completely dead and lifeless in all respects.

    Hugely disappointing to me. :(

For someone who has a number of cars none of which NONE I believe are under 250bhp with most over 300 it may feel a little slow I don't know :). For someone who mainly drives a Caddy TdiddlyI at the moment it was a nice change.

I genuinely found it quite quick. Sub 6 seconds to 60 was realistic. I found the road holding decent but to be fair I really did not have the roads to test that apart from a few highway off-ramps. The 7 speed A/T was one of the better A/T I have driven but the kick down was a bit too sensitive and the manual change a little slow.

Overall I did like it comfortable and no slouch.

I'm just back from my BMW health check up. I was interested to see what they'd find wrong.

Well I didnt mean it was slow, it isnt, more that its power delivery, exhaust note and handling were all "perfectly fine" but totally pedestrian. It has no edge or character at all. I secretly wished it was like a 4-door 370z when infact its a marginally better performing Toyota Camry.

... is there more to that story? :p
Mother had it done, they said her brake discs needed changing (they dont), needed new wipers (they were a week old), brake pads changing (they are fine), wind screen washer fluid (pointless comment), battery wasnt "correct BMW branded" (its a Bosch S5) and some other totally stupid and random things. They wanted EUR1600 to "fix" it to their idea of correct.

    Quite the jokers.

Removing 24 years of crap from the E34 with a claybar is proving to be quite tedious.... Not even a quarter of the boot surface done and its taken an eternity to do!

Did you detar the area first? I have found that the detaring stuff dissolves a lot of the crap (not just tar) which then makes the claying easer :)

As DZ said, I'd be detarring the worst parts first tbh then going at it with the claybar. Use a small drop of petrol as a detar and then wash it off with fairy liquid. Then go at it with the claybar. Might make it easier!

On another note today was one of those days where I wished for a camera phone....Finally got a machine polisher to the Alfa 159 ( 3 years old flat black Italian paint ;) ) and oh my lord what a difference. It's honestly hard to put it into words but it is nearing perfection it came up that well.

Only got the rear 3/4 panel done but the difference is immense. No more swirl marks or tar spots, just smooth glossy black paint.

Absolutely chuffed, will try and get some snaps tomorrow!! Hat's off to dgt for the loan of the machine - it's working wonders! :D

Actually I found them very nice, Conlans in Limerick.

No hassle car went in and arrived back clean having been hoovered out.

Had a good chat with the service manager who said other that a tiny oil leak it was the cleanest he had seen in a long time.

Salesman took me for a walk around the newer models just to show them to me. Tbh I'd say he was a bit bored as he knew I wasn't buying but was interested in having a chat about the cars in general.

They have a lovely 116d in a nice blue colour with an m sport pack........and a 41k price tag. Scary price tbh for a 1 series.

According to this they aren't a straight swap and require some modding to make them fit.
    They arent a straight swap

Not a lot of info on it though...

Its tree sap and all that crap, no tar on there but I'll go over it for tar anyway. Gotta be careful with the paint though!

Since you splashed out on Gtechniq polish, you may get citrus pre-clean from detailing shed and cover the car in that, leave it soak in and wash the car again.
