Yeah there was nothing special in it.

It just gave a rundown of the channels on offer and how to subscribe. Then it said the pricing will be announced in July.

Anyone have any view on the change of opponent? Seems to me that Holloway will stand with McGregor which should suit McGregor who is most effective and most comfortable on his feet.

This lad hasn't been finishing fights so unless he has a great chin he is going to get blasted out of there by Conor, No decision win this time.

Agreed. Anyone who struggles against Leonard Garcia will be put to sleep by Conor

You could really only fancy McGregor in this but I would be very wary of underestimating this guy. He may not have huge power but he is pretty stylish standing up and from what I've seen can be quite difficult to hit even when he's coming forward.

Holloway is a tougher opponent than Ogle IMO

damn this card has great potential

Yeah much better fight, bigger risk but bigger reward. Anyone know if bookies have given odds on this yet, would be interesting to see.

thats mad... really? jesus they must think your man has no chance in hell. I assume Conor won't be taking that approach in his training !

I dunno it's a pretty standard margin for a favourite/underdog type match up.

What percentage chance would you give Conor?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Be like Nutella

nah I don't bet or know much about odds just looked pretty steep against Holloway who is well able to mix it up on the feet even if he's much less skillful than Conor. Holloway has the experience of 5 UFC fights and the drive from coming off a loss and the experience of winning 3 in the octagon all of which should be taken into account.

As for percentage I would give Conor a decent chance against absolutely anyone in the world at 145... Anybody who can strike as crisply as Conor and who doesn't shy from the pocket is game against absolutely anyone in my book. Crisp striking with KO power in MMA is just not teachable IMO you either have it or you don't and Conor has it therefore he's a cut above most of the rest in my opinion. Wrestling or BJJ does not make up for it unless at the very highest standard like GSP. Most of the time the guy who's confident with his hands, who knows he has KO power from experience and has superb technique and speed and is unafraid wins... it starts on the feet ... I'll always think that way.

4/11 isn't a massive favourite tbh. Prob just looks a bit steep on paper. They are definitely considering the step up to Holloway as the odds increased from the Ogle fight.
I think 4/11 works out at a 70% chance of winning (in the eyes of the bookies)

I think 1/4 conor v ogle was value compared to 4/11 v holloway
He had nothing to beat in andy ogle

Sounds like Conor is starting to believe his own propaganda.

''The King of Dublin'', cringeworthy stuff.

The UFC annals are littered with examples of men who thought they would be the next to wear the crown, before suffering a sharp and steep descent into no man's land.

I hope for Conor's sake this is just a facade for the cameras, if it translates into effort in training he can probably expect to be back on the scratcher come January.

surely you can understand that the lad is just building his image and hype for the game he's in yeah? nothing more serious then that

TBH, with all the custom suits and media etc, Ive found myself wondering if Conor isnt getting caught up in the hype. Then I figure there's no way JK lets him off the hook with training.

Probably because, to reach that level, the highest level, is such a sport as MMA, you need to have a massive amount of confidence in yourself and your ability.

not knowing the guy but having watched his recent rise he seems like that rare kind of person that sucks in the exposure and gains power from it.. like radiation to the incredible hulk!
The more people question him and the more lights are on him the more he smiles and breathes it in and that's absolutely the ideal mind frame to walk into the cage with if you ask me, anything less than total body and soul commitment and you're in the wrong trade here. He talks a LOT of game.. but why pull punches when you really do believe you'll be 'king' one day... some of us could take a lesson from that type of belief. His whole thing seems to be that he's winning from the moment he wakes up in the morning on this UFC roller coaster and I think that's a brilliant mentality!
As far as training goes I've heard Chris Killing Fields, Paddy Holohan, Pendred and other SBG fighters interviewed after fights and they all seem to say the same thing - you win the fight in training! Nothing is as hard as their training, so once the work is done you've nothing to fear because you've prepared as much as you possibly could and you accept everything that comes after that which says to me Conor be may on youtube, racing down the strip in Dana's Convertible Ferrari, literally living the dream, laughing his head off at his own predicament, but I'd say you can be damn sure he's preparing for this fight as hard and as smart as any fighter in the world.
