I'll have no use for ESPN anymore so I'll get rid of that and bring in Setanta instead. ESPN is a tenner a month now so it'll cost about an extra 6 quid a month to switch.

UFC will only be on the channel as a a last resort measure for the Irish audience similar to what they did for UFC 100 and UFC on Fox 1. I can imagine it being a freeview broadcast on Setanta so don't go buying anything just yet!

Ah yeah I'll be holding out until I know what's happening!

On Sky, ESPN is around €15 I think, but free if you have Sky Sports.

Setanta for €16 would be daylight robbery. I thought they were bare bones at this stage?

Yeah, they have garbage at this stage. The lowest rent EPL coverage, some Formula One, some tennis and Cage Contender. That they are still a player in Irish television is terrifying and/or impressive depending on your viewpoint.

It's amazing that the company are still operating tbh. Terrible channel with brutal coverage.
I just hope a permanent deal is sorted soon with BT Sports.

Paddy Power odds are up - 1/4 McGregor v 5/2 Ogle. Pretty skinny.

You'd be better off trying to get prices for method of victory, although I doubt you'd get them for that fight.
Probably best just sticking it in an accumulator or something.

BT Sports 1 and 2 are to be offered as part of a bundle by Setanta. The bundle will be BT Sports 1 and 2, Setanta Sports, Premier Sports and ESPN. More details will be available on Monday but safe to say, it won't be €16 a month.

I'd love to be wrong about the €16 a month by the way!

Id say deep down McGregor is probably bummed not only because is he fighting Ogle but more so that hes not on the main card. I think they should probably bump him up but its looking like only injury to others will make that happen. If he wins here hes an auto main card next time id imagine.

I don't see why they would. He's 1 fight into his career. And it's not as if he beat a household name either.

McGregor v Ogle is an undercard fight right now.

    I agree with stuffins.
We're back to building Conor up as something he's not.....just yet.
We might go on like he's a superstar but that's just because he's from this small island.
The reality is, even though he made a big entrance into the UFC and managed to turn a few heads, he's still a newcomer and that's how he'll be treated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,457 ✭✭✭califano

Maybe so but still think hes disappointed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,447 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

Maybe he's bummed about not being on the main card but that's only natural; every fighter would want to be on the main card. Whether he's earned it yet though is a different story. He still has had only one fight in the UFC and although it was a great debut, it's still only one fight.
But I agree, if he wins in impressive fashion again then he'll likely be bumped up to the main card next time.....depending on how stacked the card is.

He has to be happy with the opponent though. Him and his team will know its a fight that he's very capable of winning, and that's exactly what they want. Fights that he can win, and impress while doing so. That'll get him noticed and moved up through the rankings. Baby steps is the best approach I think.

Fingers crossed on the Setanta package.

If he was on the main card people would say it was a cheap marketing ploy and they would probably be right.

He's one fight into his UFC career, plenty of time for main cards. Most important thing is a win

I wonder what the price will be like though. I'm guessing it'll be around the €30 a month mark, which will be crap considering its only costing me a tenner a month for ESPN now.

    Really???

Sure what more will they have than the current Espn deal to justify that price?

    That's more than Sky Sports!

    Well if this is true.....

.......then I can see them bumping up the price significantly.

If the price is any more than €15 I'm not paying it.

Yeah but ESPN is pretty much obsolete. BT Sports 1 and 2 have the majority of what ESPN used to have, with a slight improvement in the football coverage. Setanta is rubbish.

Overall while we may be going from one channel to 5, there really isn't a massive increase in worthwhile viewing.

Shame, I really liked ESPN as a channel. Guess it's the bundle for me. Don't think I could live without my UFC fix, although Setanta is utter ****e, at least I'll be getting a few other channels and more football for my money.

No need to be a dick to the chap.
Who cares if he spelled his name right or not. That's the sort of stuff that makes new posters not want to come back.

First row sports is being blocked in the UK shortly. It'll likely be gone here pretty soon after.

Blocked like Eircom blocked The Pirate Bay no doubt!

Nobody in Ireland has used The Pirate Bay since
