What's was it actually for???? We've watched the replays and can't figure it out

I think as the dublin player was falling, the kilkenny player was swinging his hurley and the ref assumed he hit him so thats why the dublin player was falling.

    Ridiculous decision though

Dublin gave us a lesson in that half. I don't seeing pulling off the win in this game. The Dublin lads are fair physical. The backs are finding very tough to handle it especially Kennedy and keogh

very harsh red but no argument from Farrell or Cody. maybe more to it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 310 ✭✭kfrp

It will be a tough test with 14 for the rest of the game.

When has an argument over a red ever gotten overturned?

Micheál O Domhnaill is coming out with some rubbish, that because John Jo left the field without an argument that there must have been more to it.

Cathal Moore saying that it was a yellow...that's even harsh.

    Ridiculous stuff.

Although KK werent at their best, but being 2 down was not a bad poition playing against the wind. But we have seen KK struggle in their use of the ball with a man less v Cork in 2013. Wonder will Cody have a better contigency plan in the 2nd half, they have the wind.

I've watched the incident about 4 or 5 times now and I still can't figure out what the red card was for

Probably a wild swing, but very harsh.

Cause refs are known to change their minds when players argue with them  Stick to the presenting Micheál

Joe Lyng deserved to walk there.

Now *that* was a deserved red

Joe Lyng deserved to walk there.

Stupid challenge by him, things are going from bad to worse for us

    No complaints with that one.

Disappointing stuff even allowing for the extra man.
Constantly sleeping on the short puck outs is driving me mad.

How many days before Eddie Keher will be in the paper with his "manly men " speil?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,071 ✭✭✭BQQ

Good fighting spirit shown by the 13 men.

Dublin seemed to lose their way. Don't know if they switched off or what happened to them.

Looked like the Dubs started to run out of steam badly in the last 5-10 minutes. Disappointing result but having been down to 13 men I wouldnt be too concerned. Goalie was dodgy in the 1st half and the defence was pulled about a bit but it was only our second match of the year and we should improve considerably.

First sending off I still have no idea what it was for. Second was a deserved red.

No reaction the first time, I suppose it was worth you trying another cut. Failed again though.

Is the new jersey up for sale yet anywhere?

  • Registered Users Posts: 577 ✭✭✭mullinr2

Lets face we were all surprised we won in Cork. The media hyped up our strength in depth. the scoreline today flattered us. The dubs played a much better game, we had no real game plan, no fluency to our play. A few players just not up to the level required. If we play with the same team for the last 3 games we're in bother. Padraig Walsh back to the backs instead of Kennedy or Keogh. The two of them are not up to much. I know its harsh. Stick on Kevin Kelly up front and move Richie to midfield or half forward.

Not a lot of positives to be taken from todays match, Paul Murphy did ok, Matthew Ruth worked hard and took his goals well, and the team battled hard in the last 10 minutes to at least make the score line look acceptable.

To be honest with the teams we have available at the moment 2 points and a points difference of -3 after the first two games isn't too bad. Id be more worried that Kilkenny haven't found anything new and concerns about some of the existing panel members seem to be confirmed. With a bit of luck around injuries we will be the team to beat again this year, but if we are unlucky the difference between our first choice players and their potential replacements seems a lot bigger than any other time since Cody has been manager.

Good fight in the last 10 mins, brian kennedy is possibly the worst defender iv ever seen in the black and amber there is no way he can be left on the panel and keough is no better, really need to beat galway nxt day out.

Eoin Murphy very dodgy at the mo

He should tell Jackie to **** off next time he looks for the short puck out. Fail to see what benefit there is from short puck outs.

Because it was a Cork ref. Them southerners have it in for us big time because we took hurling from tippy tappy **** to actually hurling using all the ranges of skill available, they just can't seem to get over the fact we destroyed their running game. They don't like physicality in hurling, so give out cards from confetti. It's why their club scene is so bereft of real cut, and why they've fallen so far back. Unfortunately the likes of Donal Og will push for this type of reffing, and we'll just have to adjust.

Expect more terrible red cards across the hurling scene this year.

where was the same donal og when conor fogarty got his shinbone broken by the cork corner foward?not a mention on the sunday sport or the newspapers,im sure we will read all about the 2 kk red cards tomorrow tho.

It's only Kilkenny that are dirty, don't you know that by now?

No argument on the second red, but the first was atrocious. Some poor decisions in Cork last week as well. Think the refs might pull rank with Cody over the Kelly comments.
