Game is severly broken. One of my cities has uncontrollable fires, crime has skyrocketed for no reason and traffic has grinded my city to a halt.

All I want to do is play the godamn game!!

So it looks like this game wont be properly playable until sometime next year

Got 2 cities up and running in a private region, one is my original first city +15k per hour, runs like a dream, univeristy, top industry, nuclear planet etc all good, basically it can do everything.
Setup a second city intending it to be tourist casino town. WTF is up with nobody coming to the city? Ive got 3 tourist buildings, 4 casinos, 2 stadiums, a municipal bus station, train station, airport and ferry terminal...... no matter what i do nothing works nobody comes to the damn city. I tested to see if tourism is just still broken and put the large sky scraper tourist building in my other city and its making like 40k profit WTF?

Its inexplicably broken and the first city in my region is still missing/cant load!

Serious question: Is it possible to get a refund at this point considering how broken the game is to what was promised?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Not without fighting tooth and nail for it I'd say. Unless you had a lot of money to throw at a court case, it's unlikely you'd ever get a refund.

This game should hopefully put a big dent in all pre-orders, I just can't see any reason to do them any more. There's almost nothing "exclusive" any more as any bonus content that would be included will be released as DLC anyway. It would be amazing to see Gamers try and rally behind it, but they won't in the same way that they'll use the Micro Transactions in Dead Space cause it's just easier when you've only got limited time and a ton of games to play. I don't think they ever want you to finish a game...

It won't affect FPS games and others much just like a bungled CoD launch won't affect RTS gamer behaviour massively.

As much as I want to play, I can't do it because I know that as soon as I have a good city it's just going to go tits up

Region services and gifts seem to be working now which was my main complaint.

Played about 3-4 hours tonight and loved it.

After reading your comment above, I turned it on, but its still broken - they should start handing out refunds!

How do you have that much money with 180k in only a quarter of your city? Can you throw up a few pics?

Yeah im having trouble believing it, my best city has 210k and at least half of it is residential

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

Just started a new city - but I had to leave as it was becoming impossible. the tax being collected was not correct and the amount of criminals I had for a city/town of 4,5k was unreal.

I guess I wont be playing update 2.0 until they release the next patch

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,607 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

    Ok so here goes.

Firstly I had actually expanded my residential a good bit since posting in an attempt to boost the population, which didn't work. The residential was big before the completetion of the nearby archology which had no effect on it.

I got that much money by using metal extraction / trade / microprocessors. The key is using a trading port with a rail add on, so you're not relying on the road connections to make your money. (Almost everything that relies on road breaks in Sim City).

So I started the city, mined Coal and Iron didn't care much for people just made sure they had enough housing to keep expanding. As soon as I could afford to start smelting I stopped exporting Coal and Iron and used it all locally. As soon as I had the chance to I built the microproccsor plant, I imported the plastic (again using rail) because recycling is unreliable.

Then I build the consumer electronics plants. I have a lot of manufacturing in the city now.

So here are three views of my city to give you an idea what it looks like

    Spark_2013-04-26_15-54-59.png

    Spark_2013-04-26_15-55-08.png

And these had to be taken on my phone, the screenshot button doesn't take dialogue windows, and my print screen button wasn't capturing sim city for some reason.

So here is my money panel

    2013-04-26160432.jpg

Here is my population, as you can see it was 170,000, you'll have to believe it was 180 when I posted I guess, it dropped because I tried to move around the residential which just didn't work.

And here is the detail, the 45k people commuting are a new addition.

Kudos to you - that looks great. Very jealous!! Pity the game now is pretty much unplayable though with (from what I can see in your screenshots) the abandoned building thing amongst other problems

I'm being honest, it was a complete fluke. I've tried to recreate it and I am running into all sorts of headaches.

It also has it's own problems, no matter what I do I can't upgrade the university to stage 3, pollution is bad, and the road layout is just weird.

I am tempted to try demoilishing all of it, and build a city with no residential and no extraction buildings. Just have a roads with trade ports at one end importing plastic and alloy, then processor factories, computer factories and a trade port at the other end exporting them.

If the game is ever fixed - I am going to try what you did. Seems like a good plan!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Jonny7

Havent been keeping up with things really

Can they actually fix the game.. is it possible?

or is it broken on a deeper level?

Its worse since they updated the game!

Well I created that city I was on about, entirely silicone if you like, I import Plastic and Alloy from the Global market, I export TVs and Computers. Makes about 11 million per day.

All of the buildings in the forground are either comsumer electronics or processor.

Just so you know for the future, the UI not showing up in your screenshots is an option you can turn on and off. You don't need to use your phone. :)

Holy heck and that was just by doing what you said in the previous post about the coal and iron with the smelting factory? Isnt alloy expensive to import in the first place?

Anyone on here willing to try a region again? If so pm me and I'll try city again with this new patch.

Absolutely no interest in this until they change the game to Sim City instead of Sim Town.

Guys if you hate the game that much why keep posting?

It has problems for sure but I've enjoyed it for what it is, I think I've put about 60 hours in at this stage.

Surely we are entitled to post especially since we paid out honest cash in good faith for a game that is easily the biggest disaster in gaming history.

Why the hell wouldnt or shouldnt we post ?

Because its like a broken record at this stage, "the game is ****e", blah blah whinge whinge...

Fair enough. You made that point 5 pages ago. Try let others discuss it.
