It's a day that has been coming for a while now, but like all break ups I just didn't think it would be today!

    Thank fook for that :)
As a long suffering Pool fan I hope he is replaced by a Utd version of Souness !! :D

Great manager...but complete wanker in fairness.
A hypocrite and a bully. The rest aren't much better but he didn't need to be that way
    Could have shown an example.

Didnt want to start a new thread so thought id post in here, does anyone know of a good place for trophy engravings in Dublin preferably on the southside or into wicklow. Have 4 club trophies that need names on them also any idea on costs? Went to a jewellery shop local and he was looking for ridiculous money for them.

I know there is this place in Terenure

    http://mickdowlingsportsworld.ie/

Unfortunately I haven't used the service so can't comment on their expertise. I was in a while ago pricing a punch bag (I don't get home much any more so my younger brother is no good to me) and noticed that they did trophy and medal engravings there.

Edit: sorry I also don't know about cost but I am sure a quick call would give you an idea.

So do we think Rooney is gone so or will Moyes hang onto him?

(Or are most of you just happy that Fergie is gone now :))

I am staunchly ABU but I think the Premiership will not be as much fun without Sir Alex. Moyes is an excellent replacement though.

I hope Rooney goes. He's an awful sack of sh!te and United will be better off without him.

Rumors have it United have put a bid in for Cesc Fabregas ? He would be an excellent replacement for Rooney!

Saw some quotes from rooneys book earlier. Long way back from some of the things he said about Moyes

I hope he gets rid of him. Disgraceful behaviour from him over these transfer requests. Never really warmed to him and the carry on during his last contract was a joke. I thought Fergie would have sold him that summer.

He's far from the player he (and most of the English media) thinks he is.

He's good, but struggles to be consistantly good. He has shown glimpses of greatness but never really fulfilled his promise. I also can't see him having a lenghty career. I wouldnt be surprised to see him retired in 3 years.

One serious injury, 6 months on the batter and Micky D's and he could be gone for good.

As I wad reading Ken Earlys piece earlier I was slightly concerned that Moyes was too heavy handed in dealing with a young "star"...but by the end of it I had remembered he was just dealing with a young yob.

    I am a United fan btw :)
May not be obvious from above

sickening. Just because they didn't retail the title. When is the last time they won it back to back?? I know they spent millions but that's being unrealistic IMO.

Ah they never really liked him anyway.......
Was thinking that Arsene "Whinger" will be licking his lips though considering that out of the top 4 he will be the only manager in place at the start of next season!!!

I know they bought the title last year but I didn't realise they could just sell it afterwards:P

I think to be fair they had good reason to give him the boot.
    1) Constantly whinging about lack of players with the squad he has
    2) Changing formations at drop of a hat with players looking constantly confused as to where they should be
    3) Buying Balotelli when he knew what he was like
    4) Falling out with players - Kompany, Hart etc being the bigger deals
    5) Attrocious champs league perf. (yes they had Real and Dortmund but there is last year also and there was Ajax). Plus his record in Europe with Inter was also crap

I think Pellegrini will be an upgrade. And City are not in Chelseas league yet in terms of disfunction.

Plus Roman has 11 tropies in 10 yrs at Chelsea - what I wouldn't give for that kind of disfunction at Liverpool !! :D

Ah don't be too hard on yourself Alx, Liverpool are just as dis-functional in their own ways :)

I wouldn't be Mancini's biggest fan, but I'd have kept him on for another year.
Assuming new mangers generally need a settling in period, for some, if not all of the first season at a new club, I'd have said Citeh would have had an advantage over United next year.

Sure...it'll probably be Liverpool year next year anyway :D

2 x Solpadeine 2 x Sinutab. Then scour Sky Sports for any golf you can find, don't turn your nose up at Shells Wonderful world of Golf either.
(Volvo Matchplay starts at 12 on Sky Sports 3 :))

    Don't underestimate your illness either.

Its ridonkulous really, the amount of money now in Premier League football, as an accountant and home taught economist, I am worried that this a complete bubble that is going to burst in the not so distant future. I am praying that they bring in financial fair play properly so that clubs like Bayern/Dortmund/Arsenal get rewarded for their financial excellence. As a united fan, I have never fully trusted the Glaziers.........

    As for the manager issues:
    • City - no point in sticking with Mancini if they had lost faith in him, champions league performance has been poor but was unlucky this year with the group. He really has burned bridges with players! I reckon they will clear out a lot of crap during the summer and the new manager will get to spend £100m + whatever he gets in sales!
    • Chelsea - This really is like "fantasy football" for the playstation, more European success and another new manager at the end of the season, if it is Mourinho then he is mad tbh to go back and will Abramovich let him buy the players he wants.....oh and Torres to Athletico with Falcao coming back the other way!

You might want to have a look out to see if the EuroTour Pro highlights is being repeated, watched it last night, well worth a look, good finish, good tips throughout, nice to see the potential lads of the future battling it out.

    Back off topic

I swear by a good chicken stir fry, maybe a bit early for it now but load it with chicken (obv), chilies, ginger, mushrooms, onions, water chestnuts topped off with soy sauce and coriander and that'll blow the badness right out of you.

Will financial fair play work though ?
I mean if it links expenditure to revenue then surely it is only copper-fastening the old guard ?
Munich for example by dint of being the biggest club in Germany and being in the richest part of the richest country in Europe hoover up sponsorship revenue allowing them to buy who they want...see Goetze from Dortmund, Martinez from Bilboa etc

The States has a communist model for sports (see NFL) for a capitalist country and Europe has a capitalist model for a (mostly) socialist conglomeration !!
Anyway enough ****e talk - lunch time :D
