Kubica really made a statement to the whole world last weekend.
Differences in the cars aside, his pace and consistency were unbelievable. If he can just make the finish a little more, he'll win WRC2 this year.

Just seen the Kubica crash on Youtube. I'd say he got some flashbacks of that crash barrier that nearly killed him.

So why is Kubica not back in F1 then??

Is it on medical grounds or that no team wants to take him on?

He still has reduced mobility in his arm which would prove a problem in the small cockpit of a F1 car.

As h3000 said he doesnt have the dexterity in his arm to operate the dials on the steering wheel, or the strength to hold the turn the wheel when his other arm works the dials.

His Citroen has adapted paddleshift to help him out, while the co-driver can operate any small dials. Truth is Kubica wont ever be back in F1 unless driver input is drastically reduced

    Thanks for that folks.:)

I remember reading something about him being lucky to still have a working arm/hand...but I hadnt heard anything about him in a while.

Nice to see him back racing/rallying and not afraid to give it the beans too.:D

I was only thinking about this the other day. Clearly Kubica is still hugely talented and highly motivated and not at all afraid to push the limits as that crash demonstrated.

He was very highly regarded in F1 before his accident so you'd wonder will anyone take on a chance on him and try to come up with a solution to the lack of dexterity in his right hand. I mean this is F1 after all.

We've all seen how compex the steering wheels are on the cars but you'd wonder how much of that they could cut out or change to the left hand side with a few multi functional buttons ?

The other problem Ive read about is that his right elbow has restricted movement so the movement all comes from his right shoulder at the moment. I could see that being a problem in a small F1 cockpit alright, but if he was to overcome this then I'd love to see him back in F1

So SS1 of rally Portugal has just started. Sordo was fastest in qualifying but can he challenge Ogier over the rally? Hirvonnen, Latvala and Ostberg all need to wake up on this rally if they want any hope of the championship. Should be a good one.

    Top ten after SS1
Pos No Driver Time Diff Prev Diff 1st
    1. 8 S. OGIER 12:36.4 0.0 0.0
    2. 4 M. OSTBERG 12:40.4 +4.0 +4.0
    3. 2 M. HIRVONEN 12:44.8 +4.4 +8.4
    4. 7 J. LATVALA 12:46.7 +1.9 +10.3
    5. 3 D. SORDO 12:47.2 +0.5 +10.8
    6. 11 T. NEUVILLE 12:57.8 +10.6 +21.4

    10. 21 M. PROKOP 13:19.4 +9.3 +43.0

Some huge talent in WRC2 this year

I'm going to try avoid this thread until I see the highlights on TV but Ogier is already out in front and I fear he is going to dominate this season like Loeb did in previous years.

Edit: Bloody facebook news feed is just after ruining it for me so now I know that Ostberg has crashed out.

Keith Cronin seems to be great again, leading WRC3 car at the moment from what I can gather.

Fisher isn't far behind him either, Motorsport Ireland investing a lot of money and effort into them and it seems to be paying off right now.

Fisher was 11 seconds up after SS3 but a steering arm came loose on SS4 and he lost the lead. He was able to fix it after the stage.

Interesting battle ahead between them I'm sure. Read he changed Suspension alright, Fisher.

Great to see Irish talent at the top, not much separates Cronin, Fisher and Craig Breen. Surely one of them will make it to WRC proper...

Ogier looks like he is heading towards another victory. I'm sure Latvala will be told to hold station tomorrow and barring a Latvala mistake it should be a VW 1-2.

There are a few long stages tomorrow so anything could happen.

Loved Eddie jordan's comment, "Alonso, it's not his type of circuit, Alonso throws it into the vorners"

    ROFL.

becoming the second Murray Walker with his blunders.

Fisher and Cronin got caught in a deep river on Day 2, both managed to finish 4th and 5th in the end. let's hope their talent and speed shines through in the coming rounds.

Breen going well in the Azores. Sitting in second at the moment, 15s off Kopecky.

Again, some impressive pace from Kubica but he dropped 1m45s on the day's long stage which was blighted with fog.

Craig wins SS11 and in 2nd overall 13.1 behind Kopecky. SS12 cancelled due to the severe weather conditions.

Kubica rolled on SS11 but finished the stage dropping 4mins. A lot of damage to the car apparently. Not yet known if he will continue tomorrow.

In fairness he is still learning after jumping in with relatively little experience. Today's conditions were exceptionally bad too. Below is a pic of SS12.

Another WRC win for Loeb in Argentina. That leaves just one more race before the greatest driver WRC has ever seen retires.

In the WRC2 Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari won again in the Fiesta. His co-driver is Irishman Killian Duffy.

Fastest again on SS2 and more importantly, he has 25s over Kopecky already who's in 4th.

Last stage just starting soon. Breen just needs a few seconds to snatch back third. Third would be an amazing result given the time he lost with the off and the puncture
