I would LOL if everyone removed their thanks on the OPs post. :pac: But it would be mean. :(

    It's rather impressive alright.

As an aside, I saw the little git again today, he should have been in school. Just walking along kicking parked cars. As you do...

Is it bad that my first thought was that you should have run up to him and punched him again? :o :pac:

^ I think there's probably deeper issues with that boy. Bullying maybe? Hopefully he'll be treated sympathetically.

Well done to the parents & their bravery & restraint also

One of the guys came back to the office there.

He was walking along the street & His phone rang & he answered it & then a kid on a bike snatched it from him.

Guess who the description matches... ?

I'm going to unfollow this thread, because when ever I see it in my user cp. I get a strong urge to ring child-line!

I completely disagree. He was entitled to defend himself against knife yielding scum whatever age he was.

Op you should find the scumbag and give him a beating he wont forget ;)

I thought I unsubscribed to this thread...

Anywho, scum or not, hitting a child under the age of 18 is child abuse..

So if you were faced with a 15yo scumbag with a knife and you had an opportunity to disarm him..you'd stand there and be stabbed rather than hit a poor ickle innocent child? You might have a point if the original scummer in question was actually innocent, or if the OP used unreasonable force and set out to kill him. Nothing of the sort happened- just self defence. The age doesn't matter, a threat was neutralised and it's not the OP's fault the threat was that young.

True, but I would try to get the knife off him in some way. I would like to lash out at the under age scum. It wouldn't look good for the adult in court. If it came to court..

Ah, well thats a different matter you should have said you were trained in the subduing of armed assailants bare handed.

Course if youre not, thats a good way to get stabbed. If you can't run, then your only option is to put them down as hard as youre able.

How has this received so many thanks?

I really don't get it. I've seen way better threads.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,019 ✭✭✭carlmango11

People have restraint against children mostly because they're innocent. A knife wielding scummer-to-be is not innocent and deserves whatever he gets. If anything he probably was inflated with confidence taking advantage of the fact that some people wouldn't touch him.

A few heavy boots could very easily have killed the kid and the OP would be up for manslaughter. Maybe that's acceptable in Athlone, but not in the rest of Ireland.

Nah, DeV's "Lets All Laugh At Depression" post has the most thanks.

Well done O.P. Glad you got out of that in one piece. Hopefully the scummer had a knife on him when (if) the guards went looking...
