I don't like the way that they are just placing all the blame on google.

I agree surely they have ordered enough times off google at this stage that google recognize their account as legit.

They clearly don't seem to keep on top of/notice when google cancel their orders.
Your order (and all others it seems) was cancelled by google over the weekend and they only re-ordered yours this morning? That's not good enough.

Bit worried now mine may have gone the same way and they haven't bothered to reorder it (and won't until they are chased up)

They are ordering off Google just like any of the rest of us would aren't they (albeit they are UK based so have less hassle) so how can they promise you next day delivery when it comes direct from Google to Parcel Motel? From what I've read Flubit only do the ordering for you.

They are also using the Parcel Motel address when ordering which I'd assume is getting flagged over and over again in Google as people try to get their orders sent there and the billing addresses don't match so that's why orders are getting cancelled.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think that they are doing anything different to what we would be doing with a VPN. But still when I was talking to them I just wanted to put them under a bit of pressure to make sure that they tried to get it asap as they said they would.

Perhaps they can pay extra to google for next day delivery. I really think that you should be refunded delivery costs when the thing is coming over a week late.

surely they aren't just ordering for individuals. How do you they offer a reduced price? They wait till they have a certain amount of orders and then order in bulk while negotiating with google a reduced price on all the orders?

Just rang flubit directly there. The automated message that greets you is magnificent :D

There's no way they are getting a reduced price from Google on Nexus 4's for bulk buys. They aren't bulk buying anyway because the order is shipped from Google directly to each individual, if they were bulk buying they'd be sent to Flubit who would then distribute them.

They offer a discount in return for gathering your data.

I just noticed the new Flubit landing page for Ireland, how long has it been there, does anyone know? It's good that they're embracing the whole Parcel Motel route for their Irish customers. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread was the cause of it with all the Nexus orders they are probably getting!

That's been going for a few days at least, I think. Someone mentioned it a small number of pages back. But when I tried it before, I didn't get the landing page, above.

In other news, I'm sorry to say Raoul, I've rooted my phone. :P

All seems okay, though. It's been rooted since about 7pm, once I got the confidence to give it a whirl, and I've stressed it with AnTuTu and GLBenchmark (that benchmark really is some whopper!).

But there was a good reason. I didn't do it just for the sake of it. I installed a double circle battery mod and I've used Titanium Backup to restore some data from apps that I took from my Galaxy S, which can't be done without root access. I'll hold off on installing the touch sensitivity fix as it really isn't as bad as I thought and there is a trade-off when you use the fix. And even though I flashed TWRP, I still intend on keeping the stock firmware and kernel.

Anyways, back to our original programming. :)

Ha! I was counting down the time before you rooted your N4!

Have you tried 3D mark benchmark ? N4 kicks a lot of tail for a phone from last year.

    Update:
    "Afternoon ***,

As per your conversation with Flubit, your order has been processed and we will email you the tracking information tonight or first thing in the morning.

I am truly sorry for the late response and delay in delivering your item.

    Regards,
    Miss Dilek Koluman"

This is really annoying me, I hate the "tonight or first thing in the morning". Just give me a definitive answer ffs.

I ordered through Flubit early Monday morning. Got in contact with Flubit/Fireworks today to be told it won't be shipped till next week at the earliest. Apparently the 16GB version is delayed more often than the 8GB one.

I'm more than a little impatient for this phone - am still rocking the ZTE Blade. :D

Just off the phone with David. He reckons my order should ship on the 23rd. They are going back through all the orders with Google, and he said that he is confident that the 23rd should do it.

EDIT: I just received an e-mail apologising for the delay and confirming that it will be dispatched on or before the 23rd.

Reading all this I am on second thoughts to order through Flubit or not !!!

Just got an email there from flubit saying it would be dispatched on the 25th, that would make it 10 working days since I ordered, quite along wait for an item to be dispatched. At least they finally got back to me.

It's unfortunate that Flubit didn't get on the problem sooner, since the orders were cancelled last weekend, but knowing Google and how they regard their customers, Flubit are getting the run-around from them just as any of us were. It's not good that they can't give an exact time-frame but if they were to tell you what you wanted to hear and then Google let them down, then you'd see Flubit as the ones who let you down.

I said it before, Flubit aren't perfect, but I still believe that they are the best odds in town of getting a Nexus. I know some of you have been successful with Google Play. That was luck, I believe. It could have went either way. The problem with trying over and over again with Google Play when they keep cancelling on you is that your credit card or bank account is going to have holds on it for each device you've ordered. It took me over a week after each order's cancellation for my holds to expire, or whatever the term is, and for the funds to be "available." And even when they cancel your order, you never know if they really did or not. It's happened to people here, when their orders get cancelled by Google, days to a week later, they get a shipping notification.

Going through Flubit lets them take the hit for all the holds resulting from cancellations. It might take longer, it might be quicker. As with ordering from Google, some get lucky, some don't. That applies both for whether they cancel on you or whether they ship the phone in a timely manner. So with Flubit, some orders they place make it out of Google quickly and some take a longer. And there is a delay on 16GB devices due to there being a higher demand. My original order with Flubit on March 26th didn't get shipped out until April 8th. It got here by April 11th and then it broke down after an hour of use, but things went better from here. By April 12th the RMA was put through by Flubit (it would have been the 11th if I had provided Flubit with my IMEI number sooner, but I didn't until the late evening on the 11th) and by the late evening of April 12th, my replacement's tracking number was active, which they forwarded to me on Saturday. The phone arrived at my Parcel Motel locker yesterday morning, bright and early. So ordering with Flubit is no different to ordering with Google, only you assume less liability and you know in the end you will end up getting the phone, whereas with Google all you know is that you might need to try Flubit as you're getting sick and tired of all the hassle. Just wait until you're in that position with Google and you'll realize how frustrating it can be.

I've a demand into Flubit but not holding my breath. What is supposed to happen next? if they can get one do they then offer it to you at X price and you accept or reject? or is making a demand an obligation to buy?

You have zero obligation to buy. If you're not happy with the price, you reject it. But they will better the Google price, that's a consistent truth. You'll probably get an offer for £235-237 including shipping. With Google Play it's £248.99 including shipping. But again, you don't have to purchase any offer. You can reject it for any reason at all. Or you can just let the offer expire by doing nothing, as each offer as a varied time limit to be taken up.

Posting on it now. Didn't know it needed a micro sim. I'll get one tomorrow.

Cool many thanks. The reason I ask is that I've an order placed with Google Play (again not holding my breath) and a Flubit demand also. Hoping the Google Play one comes through/is ok'd first as don't necessarily want to commit to both!.

I don't have a micro sim either, I was going to attempt to cut my existing one myself though, seen plenty templates online for this.

Anyone any experience of doing this?

Yup, you can cut your regular SIM to size I believe but otherwise, just head into your nearest carrier's store. I went into mine last week (Three) and the guy there tried to charge me €10 for a blank SIM. I told him that was outrageous and it should be free since I'm not looking for a new phone number. He then asked me if I had ever done a replacement before and I said this is my first, which it was on this number and with Three. That changed things, so it seemed, and he gave me a "Replacement Micro SIM" pack for no charge. Then it was just a matter of porting my existing number over to it, which I did online on Three's website.

Completely understood. But there's a chance the Flubit offer will expire before you know whether or not that the Google Play order will come good. As a result, you'll just have to make a new demand. Don't worry, it happens, they won't penalize you for letting the first demand expire and demanding the exact same item a second time. I did it myself, I was in the same boat about 3-4 weeks ago.

Yep I cut mine for the S3 last year. what I did was get my hands on another micro Sim and used that as a template... worked fine.

Has anyone noticed any issues with push notifications involving applications that need net connectivity (such as Gmail, etc.) when your phones are sleeping? I did last night and my WiFi was set to always operate when the phone is sleeping. Gmail wouldn't come through at all. Maybe if you wait an hour or more, it might, but if you want notifications right away, this problem is not going to bode well. If you search around, it's a common enough problem, and I came across this and applied "Option 2." Since then it has worked like a charm. It mentions that it could be detrimental to the battery but I slept a solid 8 hours since applying it and my battery only went down from 94% to 92% in that time. My notification LED was active during some of the time I was asleep due to emails coming in (I use Light Flow so the notification LED doesn't stop blinking until you dismiss the pertaining notification), so that could have contributed to the 2% drain also.

Also, I'm really happy with the data speeds (~6-8Mb down - only tested indoors so far). I'm on Three so I get HSPA+, which I'm able to verify by turning off my WiFi and heading into About phone > Status > Mobile network type = HSPA+:15. If you're on WiFi, it will scale it down to HSPA:10 to save power. You obviously need to be in HSPA/3G coverage area to test this out. I believe Three and Vodafone are the only networks in Ireland that have implemented HSPA+, information I found on Wikipedia, so it might not be 100% accurate. It's a bit of a novelty for me since I've always just had regular HS(D)PA or 3G prior to this, so you'll have to excuse my enthusiasm! :)

Do flubit give you a specific length of time to accept an offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,059 ✭✭✭Uriel.

Exceptionally disappointed. My gf has her shiny new phone around a week now and when receiving or making calls either via normal phone or Skype etc she gets a black screen and can't hang up call etc. Other person has to hang up or she has turn off phone. She's sickened. Back to flubit it seems. Hopefully getting a replacement isn't going to be too much grief

I've been playing around with it for a few hours and loving it so far. Its so bloody smooth and fast. It's also a gorgeous phone aesthetically.

I'd like to thank DECEiFER for answering my every question and just about everybody else's question too and being an absolute gent about it. Legend. (I'll probably have a ton more questions post tinkering!

I think if u just press the power button once the screen comes back on???
Is there a setting for how long the screen stays on?
Mine does the same when in on a call the screen goes black but if I hit the power screen while still on a call the screen comes back on.
I'll have a play around now and see if its a power saving thing.

Edit - press settings> display>sleep and see what is is set at.
U can change it to sleep from 15secinds to 30 mins
