Just an update RE how the delivery address appears on Flubit. I sent fireworks an e-mail asking them to confirm that the address had been changed, as it doesn't show up on the flubit site as being changed. David said that he has changed it on the system to what I asked and that it not showing up on the flubit site is just a bug.

He also said that he would notify me of dispatch. It has been said on the thread to give them a gentle nudge if you hear nothing by say Thursday having ordered on Monday. This is the situation I am in, so should I take that line as meaning that they have gotten the same hint as they would from a more direct e-mail about the status of the order?

As long as you get them looking into it, whichever method is quicker is your best bet.

Everyone's orders should be shipped by day 3 and it's Google who are the cause of the delays to folks who don't have orders shipped that quickly. So a gentle nudge to Flubit to look into it isn't a bad idea should you be waiting a bit longer than advertised.

Thanks DECEiFER, I will drop them a new question about that....I suppose talking to them about delivery addresses won't necessarily have made him look at what the order was for, so they might not have realised that it needs looking into :D

True. If you ask them to specifically look into when it'll ship then you'll have more of a chance of getting a good answer. What date did you place your order?

Don't bother emailing. Get onto flubit on the phone and get them to sort it out. They will care more about their reputation than fireworks will.

It was last Monday (8th), so I amn't worried about it yet as I have seen on the thread that it can take quite a while for it to get out, so a week is NOTHING in comparison. You mentioned earlier today though to someone else to chase them up if they haven't heard anything by this Thursday having ordered today, so I figured I would do the same!

EDIT: Very true Raoul. I might give them a buzz at some stage tomorrow!

Fireworks is a Flubit company. In addition, they are exclusive to Flubit and process all the orders. :)

Yeah absolutely, it can't do any harm.

I got the tracking number yesterday. Where can I enter it to view its location?

Also, do PM send you an email when they receive it or just text you when they deliver it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,953 ✭✭✭Raoul

The tracking for me was with UTi, search for uti tracking, otherwise you just get urinary tract infection.

You get both email and text. You get an email with a picture of the package.

They only send you email/text when it's delivered to the parcel motel, you have to keep an eye on your parcel motel account if you want to check when they have received it.

    Quick question.

Have a friend going to the States in a few weeks. Am I right in saying if I have him purchase a Nexus 4 for me while over there and then post it back to Ireland it will work out of the box on an Irish carrier? Or will it be locked to the network it was purchased from? (Sprint etc.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,465 ✭✭✭micks_address

It will be unlocked - mine came from the states, but i dont think carriers are selling them? You buy direct from google

Ah ok, I thought he'd just be able to walk into a carrier shop and pick one up for me. Can it be bought in a bricks & mortar or is it a case of he'd have to order it via the play store and have it delivered to him out there?

Not in bricks and mortar shops as far as I am aware.

    You can track away now.

    http://dol.techdata-europe.com/pod/track.aspx?CUSTID=GOOGLE&DNote=

Put your number in after the equals.

Between today and tomorrow you'll have to switch to Parcel Force to get further tracking info as that one above will only show as far as Dublin.

On the tracker, above, look for:

    Client References:
    DIR XXXXXXXXXXXX

Copy the number only and use that on http://www.parcelforce.com/track-trace/ to track it to Belfast from Dublin. It might not be active on Parcel Force right away. The norm for me is for it to become active on the day it hits Dublin, but not until that night, say between 10pm and midnight. So, don't worry if it isn't working just yet.

The next morning before midday it should be with Parcel Motel. Then, before 2pm, Parcel Motel should have a record of it on the members' page. The times I mentioned are only an indicator, as both my shipments have followed roughly the same timeline, so try not to worry if yours doesn't, just keep an eye on the site. Then, depending on where you live, it could be with you on the same day it checks in (possibly late evening) or the next day (possibly early morning).

UPDATE: My replacement has been checked in to Parcel Motel in Belfast as of "13:26" (funny, it was only 13:24 at the time I checked).

I was in the states in late January and I can't remember whether it was a Verizon or AT&T store, but I was in there having a mess around with it. The guy who I was talking to about it said that you could buy it from them like that, but it was full price.

Can anyone give me a number to ring Google play store .
I am having a nitemare trying to get a replacement for my faulty N4.

Yeah, sorry, for 0800 numbers it's 0044800. Unlike Irish 18xx numbers, British 08xx numbers can be dialed from international locations, though I have no idea what the cost of calling a 0800 would be from here (it's unlikely to be toll-free).

Iggy, just a thought. My orders from Google were cancelled due to having multiple accounts, which is utter crap because I only ordered from my primary account. A few emails later I was told it was my card details that were suspicious, possibly related to unmatched billing addresses even though I had my bank change my account's address to Parcel Motel NI and I had made the change in my Google Wallet, also. If your replacement order is being cancelled on the same grounds as mine, then here's some advice that I hadn't considered myself before trying Flubit instead:

    1. Make sure/verify that your card's address is set to Parcel Motel NI with your bank.
    2. Remove your card completely from your Google Wallet.*
    3. Freshly add it back in, selecting only the Parcel Motel NI billing address.

    * It could be recommended to wait 48 hours after you remove your card before proceeding onto Step 3. That's the advice I received from Google Support, for reasons unknown, but it's up to you depending on your level of patience at this stage.

The thing is, I've heard that simply changing the card details from the regular Irish billing address to Parcel Motel NI without first removing and re-adding the card can be futile as it might cause problems during the billing address verification checks that Google do. I have no idea why, I presume, if it's true, that it's a quark in Google's system.

Apologies if you've already been through all this. Just thought it worth a mention. Perhaps if I and others that had their orders cancelled by Google had done this from the beginning we'd have had more luck ordering from them, but I guess now we'll never know!

    Cheers Deceifer
My original order that was successful was my AIB credit card with my home address
But added my PM postcode at the end.
I havnt changed anything so not sure now why a replacement order has been cancelled as its the exact same details I used for original order.

I rang them earlier and the woman said she is passing it on to a specialist as she has restricted viewing on my account.

This was said to me a few days ago in an email but I never heard anything back.
Will wait and see what happens.

That seems to be their answer for everything. Why bother having phone support if these so-called specialists are the only ones that can be of any use? Get the damn specialists on the phone or start training the agents to get stuff done. It works that way in most call centers so why not Google?! I feel your pain, man.

It might not be a bad idea to try the method I described as it has been successful for some on here but then so has the method you tried. It's really hard to know which one has the best chances but if one method fails, try another. In the end, they have to honor their obligation to you as a customer with a defective device that they sold you. Their internal policies do not transcend your consumer rights. Make sure you tell them that if you continue to get the run-around. I know it's an advance RMA and they have to put a hold on your card to cover the cost of the replacement device in case dishonest customers are trying to rip them off, and on that part of the process is where it's likely to trip because you probably got lucky the first time around, but all the same, they can't expect you to wait forever.

Worst case scenario, you get a full refund and have them collect your defective device. Then go with Flubit. Even if it takes a bit more time than you'd hoped, with Flubit you're guaranteed to get the device because even if Google cancel on them (which they do), they'll just reorder it again and it's less stressful on your bank account since there won't be holds placed on it for the cost of each order - you simply pay Flubit and let them take it from there. The RMA process is also beneficial for us over here because Flubit will take that on and if there's any holds to be placed, it will be on Flubit, since they too will order any replacement from their end to be shipped to the PM address you originally gave them. You may be aware that my device is also defective and Flubit began the RMA process last Thursday or Friday, and my replacement was out by Friday evening. It'll be in my Parcel Motel locker by tomorrow morning at around 6am.

Just thought I'd give you a heads-up, so you know that persistence will pay off either way. You'll have your Nexus 4 one way or the other.

Cheers. Yea think I'm gonna ask for a refund at this stage.
    I'm pissed off emailing them.
Every time I email them I get this crap" I know how frustrated u must be"
When I reply to their email asking is there any update on my query I don't get a reply.
I then have to start from scratch and tell the whole story again to someone else who gives me the bull**** talk again and then never replies.
    Will ring them tomorrow .

Oh man, it's those stupid and insincere American pleasantries.

"We're so glad you contacted us today."
"What we'd like you to do today is try ordering again."
"We apologize and we appreciate that you're frustrated today."

Just shoot me now, please. It's like Google have invented robots to do the human work. Maybe in a year or two they'll unveil the technology at Google I/O.

Let us know how you go tomorrow and what you decide to do. If you have any questions about the Flubit process, let me know, because I've been through an order and an RMA already with them so I know the process. Also in dealing with them over email and on the phone, you get a sense that there's more sincerity about them and you know you're getting a human response, you'll never question it. They're not perfect, I've had a few problems, but nothing they haven't resolved for me in the end to my complete satisfaction (we'll see how my replacement phone works out tomorrow!). For example, giving me £55 back for waiting a little longer than expected (heh, I think everyone waited longer than expected, regardless of where they ordered from, apart from a few lucky ones). I got it after I made an inquiry about my order, which they found was cancelled by Google. So they offered me two options: a full refund or £55 "compensation" and they'd immediately place the order again. I took the latter option. I didn't ask for any compensation and I wouldn't have either. But they offered it anyways and that shows that they do care (at least about their reputation!).

Right I rang again and got the same talk.
I now have a new personalised cart link to order the replacement.
What u reckon I do. Let it ride with the same details as before or change my billing address to PM address .
Do I really need to notify bank or will I just add new billing address to Google wallet and try again.

Look, definitely notify the bank if you're putting in the PM address (maybe you can do it with AIB Internet Banking, I know it can't be done with Ulster Bank unless you call the telephone banking). If you don't then the check could easily fail. You really ought to have your Google Wallet and bank's billing address match. So unless you opt for a full refund and go the Flubit route, that's my recommendation, but I can't be certain that it's 100% correct. All I know is, it could work or fail either way but I personally think using the PM address is the most solid route but only if you change the address with your bank first and allow it a small amount of time to propagate throughout their systems. Only then should you freshly add the card back into Google Wallet (and even at that, it might be best to remove the card and then give it 48 hours before adding it back in). In the end, it's your decision.
