Hey guys
I'm seriously considering biting the bullet here but there's only one thing putting me off, the storage space, or the lack of it rather!
To anyone who has the 16Gb model, could you check something for me? I've searched online for the answer for this but cannot find it. I understand the usable storage space is 12.92Gb, but does this include storage for apps?
Reason I'm wondering is my current Galaxy S2 has "System Storage" of 1.97Gb, which has app storage but I'm not sure if any apps I download myself from the Play store go into this.
Put simply, is anything the user puts onto the phone apps or otherwise eat away at that 12.92Gb? Or is there another section of 2Gb (or similar) that apps go into. It should be easy to find out if you go into settings -> storage

1. Accessing the Play Store
Since the Play Store isn't available in Ireland yet, you're going to need to order from the UK store. That's your first problem - They don't access Irish IP addresses. You have a few options here but the easiest one I found was to use Tunnel Bear. (http://www.tunnelbear.com/). Basically this allows you to act like you have a UK IP so you can access the store.
2. Gmail account
I used my own personal Gmail address that I've been using for years. In my account settings (https://wallet.google.com/manage/settings) I have my own personal address and phone number listed in there, and my real name.
3. Parcel Motel
Parcel Motel (http://www.parcelmotel.com) is the service I used to have the phone delivered to me. Register on their website and you get two free stays with them. Register with them and understand how it works using their delivery address.
4. Payment
You're going to want to add a new payment method to your Google Wallet. Click 'Add debit or Credit card' under payment methods. You need to register this as a UK card using the Parcel Motel Belfast address and post code.
On the final section of payment both my shipping and billing address were set to the Parcel Motel address.
Also note, I paid with a credit card.
5. Your bank
Not sure how important this step is but I rang my bank to ask them to add the Parcel Motel address to my list of allowed billing addresses. I've seen some peoples orders getting through without doing this - but I felt I was better safe than sorry.

Have you considered purchasing Google Drive storage? I pay $4.99 a month for 100GB which upgrades my Gmail to 25GB, gives me full resolution automatic uploads to Google+ (private album, also in Picasa) or unlimited at 2048px resolution and 20000 music uploads to Google Music (very useful with the free matching service and iTunes import). That's why I got the cheaper 8GB, integration is only going to increase more and more so my phone is just for apps, messages and contacts theoreticallyHey guys

Yeah, I know, maybe I'm living in the past but I'm just no fan of cloud storage for something like music, which is the area of concern. I currently have 8Gb of music on my S2, using a sd card for the job. I guess a 16Gb Nexus 4 would do me fine, if I were to trim my collection a bit and keep a better eye on where my space is going. Its just the effort of having to do that really.. I wonder if there'd ever be a chance of a 32Gb Nexus 4!
As to why I dont want cloud storage yet, my current bill is only €15 a month which includes 1Gb of data. I don't particularly want to pay more. Its not really that though, where I am a lot of the time, there might only be EDGE coverage and I wouldn't want to be bored somewhere and have to rely on a cloud storage platform to listen to some music. I could just use my old Galaxy S1 as my music player but tbh, I carried around two devices (Phone and ipod) for the purpose up to a couple of years ago and I don't want to have to go back to that...0 -

Rang them and got it sorted and as I re-ordered, I noticed I had originally been ordering the 8gb by mistake, so I reordered a 16gb one and got a load of emails.....Had to try cancel the 8gb one and then got mail saying that was successful but am not sure what I will get if anything...:eek:
I got a mail on Friday (after only ordering Thurs!!) to say mine has shipped...
