Funny that, My N4 has been a better on battery from the 4.3 update. At night i'm at least 30% now were I was less than 10% before. Perhaps the app/tool from qualcomm is helping too I guess.

Mine is too, definite improvement on 4.3 for me but I never used the tool from qualcomm.

Whats the app from qualcomm that is helping your battery?

Is it this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app&hl=en-GB

    Yep thats the one.

One thing I like now is you can set a low power profile so when batt gets to x% turn off so and so.

Has anyone ordered since flubit changed to just amazon?

    Whats the process now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,792 ✭✭✭robo

I dunno if I am ordering but I put in a demand for a camera. I would presume it still works the same way, just gotta put in an Amazon link.

I hope they're already regretting the move, that our disliking of it is not in the minority and that they have a significant drop in sales. I mean, they must want that to an extent, since they aim to process orders in 10 hours or less and that has to be achieved with the same staff as before.

People will say nothing if they have nothing to say but they'll speak volumes when they're pissed. That could explain the fallout on Facebook and their own blog. So perhaps we could be in the minority, but time will tell...

Am I right in thinking this is the right link then: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-Google-Nexus-4-16GB/dp/B00AEXOG7Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1377604902&sr=8-4&keywords=nexus+4

I can't tell if it's new or what

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/111149285984?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

hope it's legit, he got a few bad ratings. there's even cheaper on eBay but they come from HK so customs could kill ya

    I'll say no more... :)

Pity Amazon's listings won't reflect this immediately. No move on the Nexus 10.

Cheers DECEiFER - bought a 16GB using TunnelBear (VPN), Google Wallet and Parcel Motel.

    £208.99 was the total.

I'm in Canada, waiting on the Nexus 5 but this tempts me hugely. Might get this AND the Nexus 5 just because!

Just realised how this thread might go into meltdown tomorrow for anyone who bought it in the past few weeks... O_O

Best of luck with it! What's your current order status?

What Parcel Motel need to consider is offering UK payment options so not only will they take delivery of the item, they could purchase it for you. They don't necessarily need to go down the Flubit route of creating a better offer, but to buy the item at full price with a small surcharge for their trouble, which would be of great help. It wouldn't just apply to Google Play, who could potentially sell devices in Ireland soon, there are likely other stores that could be sticklers (such as Ebuyer, iirc). I might suggest it to them and I hope I'm not the first to do so, because a demand for a service like this could get them on-board.

It's a steal, you also could potentially get a good resale down the line if you keep the phone in good condition.

Cheers - order status is simply 'Dispatches by 1 September 2013.'.

Oh, and for anyone who has bought a Nexus 4 off Google Play in the last two weeks..
Should Google reduce its price on any Device within 15 days from the date you order it, you must contact Google Play Support within 15 days of the price change to request a refund or credit for the difference between the price you were charged and the reduced price.
    Link!

    Well that's good of them.

But don't rely too much on that dispatch date. I had that before my first order was canceled. It's hit and miss. But again, best of luck and please keep us all updated. I'm sure there will be others who try with Google again now that Flubit is no longer an option.

Personally, I don't feel ripped off. I got mine even cheaper in April than Google's current offering. Between Flubit crediting me £55 for having to wait a little longer than the norm and the fact that I demanded and paid for an 8GB, but got a 16GB probably by mistake, I paid £239 - Flubit's discount of £12.70 - £55 + £9.99 shipping. That's a total of £181.29, haha. :P

    Hi,

Did you have to ring your bank to add the Parcel motel's address as a billing address or not?

    Thanks

    Nope, wasn't an issue.

Simply add the billing address via Google Wallet was enough.

You can cancel the order if it hasn't been shipped. Or return it if it has.

it's already shipped unfortunately. i might actually return it unopened, €100 price difference is hefty. just looking up courier costs now.

An Post might be the cheapest. The package weighs less than 500g so the cost is €9.60 to the UK.

    ! WARNING !

Google can cancel you order at a moment's notice if they see you're not in the UK. Even if they order status says it'll dispatch on such and such a date, that date often comes and goes without anything happening and a subsequent order cancellation without a valid explanation. I've done it twice and had both canceled, in spite of changing my address with Ulster Bank, and in the earlier pages of this thread (such as page 50 or less) you'll notice people left, right, and center having to order more than once in order to get past Google (like I said, it's hit and miss). The funds will be held from you until up to a week after they cancel the order, that is, while Google won't take the money until the phone ships, the authorization for the funds doesn't go away instantly, so it won't be available to you to make another purchase. So unless you have sufficient funds, you'll be waiting.

Also, if your device ends up being faulty and you want to return it, you'll have to find a way to get it back to the UK. Google cover the cost within the UK but they're not going to play nice if you're returning it from here. However, that's not the big problem. Before you return the phone, they'll ship you a new one in advance. All well and good, but you know the way an advance RMA works. They put a hold/authorization on your account for the cost of the phone until they've received the defective one. So to do this, they give you a link to a shopping cart to, in a manner of speaking, purchase the replacement device. If you managed to avoid the checks to get the phone in the first place, you're subject to the same for the replacement and you could find that they cancel the replacement order. It's so automated, black and white, that the system just screws you over and you could be in limbo with this for weeks or even months, sending emails and making expensive calls. The customer service is appalling and pretty much any agent you'd speak to needs to refer the query to a "specialist" who you don't speak to and will take at least a day to provide an answer to the agent. They'll just keep going around in circles by having you try purchasing the replacement again and again, which could and keep getting canceled each time. Unless you start telling them about your consumer rights in a badass sort of tone, and persistently annoy them by calling up, you might feel as though it'll never be resolved. You can find all the evidence to back up what I'm saying in this very thread.

So that's just a warning to to you all. Until Google Play start selling over here, that's the potential situation you'd face when purchasing or doing an RMA with Google.

I can't see them doing that. It's messier than what they do now because they'd have to deal with returns etc. plus once they go over a certain amount of sales they'd have to start charging Irish VAT which would increase the price they charge.

Back to the phone. This is a cracker of a price. Tempted to get one even though I just bought a Jiayu G3S a month ago and I'm waiting for the new nexus 4. I know, I'm an idiot but I just love gadgets too much.

What do you do other than Tunnelbear to order it?

Could I get someone in the Uk to order it and pay myself or is it all done at once?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,577 ✭✭✭spix

The onscreen buttons put me off the nexus 4 as it makes the actual resolution 1184x720 which is a bit strange. Won't that make some things such as games appear stretched/squashed depending on which way the phone is turned?

Could it be possible to use say a UK 3V prepaid card do you think? or is there much hassle in sorting your Google Wallet to work? Ive to make a trip up north the weekend so the 3V could be an option:confused:
