That is pretty stupid, and plus if you want to appeal how the hell do you go about doing of you don't know where you stand? Ridic!

I got my grant, and I am getting the adjacent one, however I am only 3kms outside of the non-adjacent grant, and I won't be able to buy any books [it's about 200 euros for each semester if it keeps going the way it has] or barely eat during the day when I get there...I am going to try appeal does anyone think I will stand a chance of getting any more, my brother got the non-adjacent last year and for 2 years previous with the same address as me so I don't know what happened...

Still waiting on this final letter but expecting it going on conversations with SUSI.
But is it really a situation where they couldn't have collected this data earlier in the process Re: Bank details?

Look at how to operated with the VEC/ CO.CO, Each college sent out a form in their application regarding bank details and it was all complied and ready for when the VEC's released the funds.

Why could SUSI not have collected our bank details in the application process when there was calls for extra documentation and Course acceptance forms?

Also question the trans parity of the payment dates. Why are they such a secret? why do Cork seem to be the only place in Ireland which knows them?

I've been planning around the 12/10/12 that payment would have been made by as I thought they may keep in line with the VEC's.

System has been proven to have its faults and please god they buck up for next year! Also their website is the most frustrating.

It took me less than 60 seconds to give bank details, I don't think its going to be much of an issue.

"Your application is at the provisionally awarded stage. Please check your email for instructions.........etc..."

I got asked to send in a final course acceptance form last week and thought I was making progress, then yesterday got a letter asking for financial information from 2011, a letter from a college I dropped out from in 2005 and another final course acceptance form! It seems like ive a long way to go yet and I sent in everything they asked for months ago, bit disheartening but ill be a happy man if I get something at the end of this.

Has anyone had to get a letter from a previous 3rd level institution, when I rang my one today they were'nt very helpful. Its what im now most worried about the most.

Yep i got one from UCD. The only thing is I got it and then susi wanted another one which stated the term dates of each year. So id do that. Make it as details as possible. Also on the new letter had to get UCD to state I did not complete the degree.

i got ones from ucd. i went out to ucd to get them . they were very helpful although they did not give me a letter, they gave me a sheet of registration for each year that i was there. and then for the year that i left they typed onto it "student did not complete course"
i hope susi dont come back to me looking for a letter.

I must praise LIT Tipperary as they were very helpful to me in that regard. Kudos to them.

As for our friends in SUSI they should be binned and a revert to the old system. I wonder how much this spin doctor government actually saved by getting this incompetent organisation to look after the grant process?

I still havent heard a word from them. Useless shower!

Has anyone else not heard a single word from them? I sent in my app at the end of August and have not heard anything since. I'm in UCD if it makes a difference.

    Cheers :/

What was the "more info"? I'm in same situation though, sent all my stuff away months ago, sent the final course acceptance form away, haven't heard a word back.

knockout - the 'more info' was i a form filled in from social welfare for my mother to say she was no longer in receipt of any social welfare payments and also my final course acceptance form. I'm hoping and praying that no news is good news in this case!

I got a letter requesting things I've already sent. I'm screwed because I need to pay the fees by the end of this month and I honest to god don't even have a hundred euro to my name at the moment and I won't be able to pay.

Just hope I can work something out with the college.

Received my confirmation of the grant letter today in the post (15th October)

Sent my Final Course Acceptance letter on the 12th September just to let all you know,
now anxiously waiting for the money!

Also received confirmation today, sent in my course acceptance about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I also got mine today, not happy though. Was 100% sure I would get the full grant but got the 2,350. Only thing I can think of is I am 43.5 km from college but when I go the toll which is my normal route I am 48km. Would it be worth appealing. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 676 ✭✭✭ayumi

I called yesterday to be told that copies have to be certified which on the document list hadn't mentioned it so will need to send them again! But was told to call in a week to see where my application is going.

The distance is calculated using the address you provide on your application and the address of the college you put on your Course Acceptance Form. If it's less than 45km it's less than 45km.
Nothing to be lost by appealing it though.

If it's a passport for evidence of nationality or a GNIB card it clearly says in the explanation of documents that it needs to be certified.
