I imagine in such groups courtship rituals are often soggy affairs, with much emphasis on dark coloured trousers and incontinence pants.

    You obviously haven't heard this song then;

Did anyone forget to mention Link to the Past 2 for 3DS?

I'm excited for a proper 2D Zelda but the arts a bit crap. It looks like an early pre rendered game.

I'd say the look is more designed to work in 3D

After being disappointed with phantom hourgalss and spirit tracks it's hard to get excited since it looks similar.

That's amazing news about Earthbound. If they released it for the 3DS VC I'd play through it again.

You were disappointed with Phantom Hourglass???? that game was great! Heathen!

It was good, I just didn't love it like I would a zelda game. There's something wrong when I couldn't be bothered with spirit tracks because I was so ambivalent to the last one. I think it was just so insultingly easy that I wasn't engaged at all by the game.

Nah, Spirit Tracks was just cack. I loved Phantom Hourglass, waited ages for Spirit tracks, played about 30 minutes and never picked it up again.

Phantom Hourglass was great apart from that repetitive core dungeon.

Spirit Tracks fixed that problem with some fantastically imaginative dungeon design, but then shat itself by forcing you to spend 50% of the game in that ****ing train.

There's probably one truly great Zelda game's worth of content between the two of them.

So, just looking at screenshots and reading articles on the brace of new games for the 3DS, looks like a really good time to own one.
    Hmm....
I wonder where Sony's Vita games lineup is....... ah welll.....

Are there actually any games on it now that'd warrant a purchase of a vita?

I always forget that console even exits. Says a lot about it's impact.

I'm just waiting for a massive price drop so I can pick one up on the cheap.

When your killer app is an enhanced port of a five year old PS2 game, you know a console is struggling - and I say that as the biggest Persona 4 fan you'll ever meet.

There's a few interesting games I wouldn't mind playing, especially whenever the latest Ys title surfaces. But the 3DS is genuinely where it's at - especially since, thankfully, there's a lot of effort being put in by Nintendo Europe to ensure we receive a majority of the games that last gen would have been America only (Bravely Default and SMTIV from today's announcement, plus the forthcoming second batch of 'Guild' titles). Given the console's crippling region-locking, this couldn't be more welcome.

Still no sign of Soul Hackers though. Nintendo seem to be getting very very friendly with Atlus at the moment what with the Fire Emblem/SMT cross over and Nintendo really pushing SMTIV as a big game on the 3DS, it might mean less bul **** for European gamers.

Vita is a fantastic piece of hardware, I just hope Sony announce more games soon because it's really not living up to it's potential. I don't think anything will save it though. I don't really see where the Vita appeals. 3DS has the younger audience and gamers while the Vita really is not aimed at a younger market.

Hopefully Soul Sacrifice will be good.

Im kind of glad the games have been slow to come for the Vita, it's saved me a small fortune in not buying it!

I've way too many games on the psp and ds to get through to be buyin another handheld. More to buy too!

Both have such great back catalogues.

    We are spoiled.

Dropship Damrey looks very interesting. It looks a bit like Enemy Zero. The two guys behind it made a very famous japanese visual novel called night of the sickle weasel, check out the Game Centre CX episode with it, it's fantastic.

Just beat Resident Evil 6. I'm not impressed at all. A very bland game and the whimper it ended with, Ada Wong's final chapter, was so poor. Enemies weren't fun to fight and they just got completely wrong the gameplay that made Resi 4 so good and had some very bland level design.

That's amazing! Jeez, how can there still be new hardware discovered like this so many years later.

Here's the guy who owns it talking about it on assembler

I know, makes you think what else is out there. The guy who posted it on assembler said there was only 2 of those made so I'd imagine someone out there maybe still has it or it was scrapped at some stage.

A new Sega Saturn prototype uncovered. One with a built in NetLink modem for online play.

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?45489-The-Real-Sega-Pluto
    Hi everyone,

After a good 14 years or so of sitting on this, I've decided it's time to share a little bit of Sega lore with those who would appreciate it most.

First, a little background info -- I was introduced to this site by Monkfish (a great friend who recently passed away, RIP), who provided everyone with the Geist build, if memory serves. We worked together at Sega back in the day, and a bout of reminiscence over my old friend led me to remember this site, which leads us to today.

I'm here to reveal a piece of unreleased Sega hardware -- the Pluto. And no, it's not that Nomad wannabe -- it's a Saturn with a Netlink built in. But enough words, on with the console porn:

    attachment.php?attachmentid=6511&d=1366190702attachment.php?attachmentid=6512&d=1366190703attachment.php?attachmentid=6513&d=1366190705attachment.php?attachmentid=6514&d=1366190706

A little more background info -- as most of you know, Sega is a company with a history of turmoil. Employee turnover is a sad theme, and the Sonic Reaper (as we call him) strikes all too frequently. As such, the past gets forgotten quickly -- treasures from the previous generation are quickly cast aside, as a new regime tries to make a name for themselves (or justify their existence). As such, some of said treasures get left on laid-off-peoples' desks. And in a beautiful twist of fate, this beauty ended up finding its way to my desk, and then in a box with the rest of my stuff when I left Sega.

I was told that only two of these prototypes were made -- and this is #2.

This thing is a beast, and definitely the heaviest console I've ever held in my hands. The front features two controller ports, and on top you have a flip-top drive bay, a cart slot, a Power button, and the venerable Reset button. Note that the logo still says Saturn, so I'm guessing the Pluto codename was simply that, and they were thinking of branding it with the Saturn name. (The logo is printed on production-style though, so I'm guessing they were fairly serious about this one.) The left and right sides feature beautiful-and-exotic vents, while the back is standard Saturn, save for the Netlink ports. The bottom has nothing of note except for the "PLUTO-02" sticker (which is, of course, of note).

But does it work? I honestly never tried to fire it up until now. Yesterday I picked up a power cable from Akihabara (I'm based in Japan these days), and with a little trepidation, I pressed the POWER button...

    attachment.php?attachmentid=6515&d=1366190953

... and it lives! We're dealing with a straight-up USA NTSC Saturn here (NTSC-4-V1.00a, for those keeping score), which is sadly region locked, so my copy of Policenauts doesn't get any love. I don't have any US titles on hand, so I'm unfortunately not able to test a disc booting. Can't even imagine how I'd go about testing the Netlink part of this device (no landline here). I haven't had the guts to open it up and see if there's anything special inside, as I'm the kind of guy who tends to break wires and lose screws. I'm also not sure of the whereabouts of the Pluto-1 -- I'm guessing someone from the pre-Dreamcast days has it, though.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a bit of rare Sega history with the few people in this world who might still care, and see if anyone else has any knowledge about this bad boy. I think it's an interesting piece, and it hearkens back to a time when Sega was brave, and would try just about anything. Ah, how I miss that Sega...
You know, it's amazing how even in an era where everyone has the internet, there's always something new to find.

Ed: DAMMIT, that's what I get for being too detailed!
