As it's an away game I can't see Cooney getting this one. Boss to start, he's been a big leader for the academy guys on away missions.

Is the Cardiff game not being televised??

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

The OLSC definitely said something about this not being televised.

Is it the same night as an u20s match?

Yeah the u20s is on RTE on Friday night and so is the Leinster game.

There's three Rabo games in Wales this weekend, none of which will have a home broadcaster at them. BBCW are showing the Ulster v Ospreys game in Ravenhill.

The Munster game is on TG4 on Sat night so there'll be loads of rugby to watch on the box, 2 Rabo games and three 6N games in total.

Just looking at the flights on Ryanair for that weekend and to go Dublin to Stansted leaving Dublin on Friday at 11.35 and leaving Stansted on Sunday at 20.25 is 135euro. Not too bad!

I still won't be going though as I'm broke.

Wonder if they'll sell it out, Wasps said they reduced ticket prices to try and do this but you have wonder how much of a following they have generated when their stadium is in the middle of an industrial estate..

Leinster is a huge name in rugby, they surely will sell it out.

Its not really like that though. Well it is, but it's not bad at all.

Great for EOM and Dave Kearney. Good chance for them to push for Amlin selection as well as the summer tour. Would personally like to see McGrath and Cooney start this one. With Heinke leaving, it's especially prudent for McGrath to add to his six starts.

Has this been confirmed? Wouldn't be surprised but a massive loss if he goes.

I've a few mates who are Wasps fans who reckon they'll be doing well to sell it out. They aren't getting the crowds apparently. A Munster friend was asking about the chances of getting tickets for it and they told her she'd have no problem.

It may sell out, but I'd be surprised if it does today.

I think the locals underestimate the amount of away support there'll be.

No TV coverage of the Cardiff game this Friday...

    Disappointing

Not sure how I feel about this. As mentioned, Madigan has been getting a lot of game time, but I'd imagine Sexton will come back after 2 seasons, but would image we'll get a back-up rather than a top class international.

If Steyn or someone becomes available though, might as well go for it until Johnny comes home. :D

They don't have much choice, there's no decent IQ 10s available.

Would love to get jj! Wouldn't be a bad move for him, 2nd choice at leinster from 3rd choice at munster...

Leinster will be looking for a NIQ OH to cover, not replace Madigan.

Thats my understanding too. Someone who will play 6 or so 2nd tier Rabo games and sub whilst Madigan plays the big RABO games and HEC games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Killser

You gotta look around Europe for a free OH, or at least someone that might move - not easy!

? Maybe Jono Gibbs could wrangle Luke McAllister for a couple seasons from France

I dunno, I'd say they're aiming somewhat higher than that. The quotes from Richie Murphy are definitely not an unequivocal endorsement of Madigan being the future, I'd say they'd like a semi-decent fallback option if Madigan turns out not to be up to the job.

So Kearney has signed on apparently, I'm suprised he didn't try and make them sweat a bit longer with his comments about Sexton.
