Some shots from Carton yesterday, two very different courses...

Brill pics Slave - is the last one the tee shot from the new 18th on O'Meara, yes?

Haven't had a chance to play the new layout yet but will verrrrryyyy soon...

Yeah, view from the 18th tee, I just couldn't manage to see any particularly good shots of the Monty, it was very plain and hard to capture with a photo.
O'Meara's 14-16 easily the most scenic. Monty empty, O'Meara jammed!!

The new 18th on the O'Meara course is a cracking finishing hole.

Great pics. The O'Meara has three of the best holes in Ireland but the Monty is better to play IMO, a very good and tough design, without the wow factor.

The O'Meara has been in a jocker too while the Monty is bullet proof with such dense fairways

I played this course many many moons ago during a stag, can't remember anything but that hole, it's a beaut. I'd love to play it again ......sober!

The new 18th on the O'Meara course is a cracking finishing hole.

After the slow buildup to the three best holes, then comes the 17th. One of the most dejecting holes I have ever come across.
And then the 18th is even worse.

..I find the Monty souless and barron...The O Meara I enjoy more and more each time. Played both 3 times this year.......jury is still out on the 18th though.

    Whizbang.

Could you clarify what you mean.

    18 looks awful in photo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,046 ✭✭✭whizbang

I might have mixed them up, but 1st one is 17th tee to green, second is looking back at 17th tee.
I think the 3rd is out to the side of 'the tree' on the 18th, looking to the green.

What prompted me to take the pics in the first place:mad: the pics are the answer.
I honestly thought we had got lost after the 16th, spent 5 minutes walking around looking for another couple of holes.

Played arklow the other day, what a beauty, I think the quarry and the warehouses add to it course in super condition

140 metres but can play from 9 to 3wood depending on wind.

played it 2 weeks ago for golf digest review, though it was fab in general but it does have a few flaws.

whatever about the quarry and warehouse, i though the little house on the 18th is just class. An old geezer lives there on a long term lease from the golf club for the princely sum of 1 shilling a year! Yes, that is 1, ONE, Shilling, or 5 old pence, or about 6.35 cent....PER YEAR!!!

Mount Juliet I believe but unfortunately it wasn't me playing.

It looks very good and is really something to look forward too on Captains Day.
