UlsterBank and Bank of Ireland at least (probably TSB as well and others) have Visa Debit cards.

I got my bank account with Ulsterbank because they're only 15 mins walk down the road a year ago and I've never looked back. Where as with the credit cards it would take 2-3 days for the money to clear. With Ulsterbank I can deposit cash instantly and walk home and spend all my hard earned money on vaping gear immediately! It's great! :D

yeah I have an o2 money card which does the same, but atm i'm a 50 minute walk from the nearest payzone :)

aib are bringing in visa debit cards in october so I just have to wait until then and I'll be sorted

I'm having awful bother with my phoenix. The coil that came with itactually was pretty good. Flavourwas a bit weird at the start but got really good. The trouble came lastnight when i tried to re-wick it. I tried every thingwick and  wire with mesh and with out mesh, different turns, differenttypes of wire and different type of wick. It was adisaster and also caught fire a few times. Thing is i watched reviewsonline e.g (scott's) and he seems to move the posts to get the holes inplace but mines don't move at all. I got mine from ESI  and its a phoenixclone (tapered at the end) although the pics on their website showthe official phoenix model. I'm just wonder if any one has the ESI clonesand if so what set up works.

the catching fire isnt an issue, so long as you dont let it melt the plastic around the posts.

you're probably dry burning it for too long which is how it catches flame

make sure you make the legs of the coil really long, that way you can bend the wire all sorts of angles to get them into the holes of the posts.. makes it a lot easier.
a lot of it is down to feel... dont wind too tight, dont wind too lose, dont put the coils too close together.. dont put them too far apart.. etc etc

you'll have to just try a few different things and try to figure out what works for you.

are you using something as a splint when you're making your coil? I use a sharp needle to support the wick, then wrap my wire around that.. when I have the coil done I pull the needle out and attach the coil to the posts.

if the needle can pull out of the coil pretty easily it's a good sign. if it has trouble coming out the wire is probably too tight on the wickwhich can strangle it and inhibit wicking, if the wire is too lose it wont be getting wet enough and you'll get horrible burned flavour very often.

basically practice/patience. and at least it's only 13 euro so you can hop it of a wall if you need to and wont have lost much money

Thanks for getting back i'm sure you know how frustrating it can b to read articles sayinglook how easy it is then i sit there all night surrounded by flames :).Yeahi use a pin but as you say its is feel. i had alot of success rer-wickingvisions and viv's although at the start feel into alot of pitfalls e.g winding it so tight that i was slicing into the wick and whatnot.  I have tried as you say leaving a bit on the legs and movong itaround ,i find though that the bit that i stretch around to reach the back of theother post (as to make the coil run horizontal) seems to glow red beforetherest and quite bright.  Aslo the turns? what should i be aiming for interms of turns with .20 wire and .15?

hrm, i dont have the coils running horizontal.. ive seen people doing that alright with the phoenix but most people do it the other way with the coil running diagonally

when you make the coil you have one leg on either side of it.. one pointing up and one pointing down and you enter the posts on opposite sides

so one leg on one side of the coil will enter the post on the left from the side facing you and the other leg of the coil will ender the post on the right from the side facing away from you.

when attaching the coil to the posts though.. it is tricky. I found I had to just pull at the leg of the coil real hard and then let it go a little slack so that it was actually touching the wick properly when I screw the posts down.

even then sometimes it just doesnt work out and I have to get a needle out and try fiddle with the coils to stop those hot spots you were talking about and sometimes I just wind a coil and it works "out of the box"

it's a decent atty but it's tricker to use than it oughta be. even when I feel I get it right, performance still isn't as good as is advertised in reviews and forums.

bring it to vapefest if you're going and at least then everyone will be able to compare notes in person and maybe we can figure this **** out

    --edit

    oh, and how many turns.

god knows. I really struggle with that on the phoenix. fewer coils and more spaced out.. or more coils and tight together... i've tried both, both worked and both didn't work.

sir digby, thank you for your on going support on here i pretty much gotall my advice for noobs from youI was all geared up for vapefest but have to work now :( if i get off earlyi still might go down  would be great craic. As you say its a very small expense and even tjough i was losing it a bitlast night (took screws all the way out and trying to get them back in was insane)it is good fun. It's like the visions all the failures teach you little tricks.   Again thanks for your help dude

i lost the screw that I'd broken the threads on. finally found it but it took me an hour or two to get it back in.. once i had it back in I just threw the phoenix in the bin. eventually dug it out, but it's a frustrating atty to use at times.

i'd imagine people will be going at vapefest late into the night, even if you most of the main day itself there'll be people there with phoenixes or whatever just hanging out later on and hopefully by then we'll all have worked together during the day to finally figure this **** out :)

Just a quick question. I'm a noob. I've tried Boge Cartomiser (which are very nice flavour but constantly refilling them) and Vision V2 Clearomisers (plastic cracked, juice monster and taste wasn't as good as Boge). Today I got Smoktech DCT (taste is good, easy to fill but the tank kinda slides up and down so not something I'd ever want to put in my pocket, more of a leave on the coffee table kinda thing). I also got a Vivinova Mini today too (taste is good, easy to fill and solid) probably my favourite so far.

So compared to all these, what makes this Pheonix RDA so good? Is it the fact that it's very cheap to repair? Or is there something else I'm missing? Sorry I'm too lazy to read every page of this thread to try and figure it out :)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,555 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

the phoenix rda is just one of many repairables, but it is the cheapest. repairables main advantages are how cheap it is to repair them, rather than tossing them out and buying a whole new atomiser plus you can tailor them to your own preferences by winding the coil the way you like it

flavour/nicotine hit/vapour are generally better with repairables too although a lot of that is down to how you wind your coil.

On a similar note the bulli with the tank, does it not run in to the wicking issue as the ego-t?

I hope not.............that's my fear too. Maybe the mesh surrounding the feeder wick in the spike helps wicking.

Clockworks is going to fix my RDA (hopefully its fixable!). Bloody lost without it. Asked him to ship me a clear tube as well when he's sending it back. Should help with knowing how much juice is left.

Struggling on with clearo's and DCC's at the moment. Hopefully get the Bulli by the end of the week too. Expensive week!!

hope it does anyway... if I dont get it by friday at the latest It was a complete waste, should have saved the money for vapefest

I think Bulli send some mesh with the atty but does that need to be heated under a flame? Also, does Andrei supply mesh? Haven't used mesh before....,,

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,555 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

i dont think he does, email him and ask. its not hard to find it on ebay or wherever

afaik the mesh sent with the bulli wouldnt be pre-oxidised so yeah youd havee to do that yourself. if you have a gas cooker it's simple to do, if all you have is a regular lighter it takes a little longer but it's just as easy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,304 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

Yeah - I'll email him during the week. Don't have a gas cooker so do I just redden it with a lighter? Is the idea that it won't short then or something?

you'll pick up a little butane torch in any hardware, will make the whole process a lot easier...

What would be even easier, is if you have an old windproof lighter laying around in the house!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,555 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

yeah heat it until it glows red/orange, then quench in some water. repeat 3-4 times

make sure you get every part of the mesh you'll be using oxidised, other than that it's pretty simple
