would you rather AH became a grey place of seriousness???

Ruined AH??? It was always a sh1thole.
Agreed but its just cringe these days :o

And yet here we all are, can't live with it can't live without it or so it seems.

Who said it was meant to be funny?

The OP, aint that the point of the thread ? Are you saying you thought that other thread was about cornflakes ? Is this an extension of the same joke ? I'm getting awful confused.

Don't see what those threads have to do with this one, but whatever. I know you're a mod in BA but even you have to get sick of the "OMG Jacobs Cream Crackers are only €0.66 in Tecso Mahon Point" threads when you are browsing for proper BAs that are worth leaving the house over

It was always welcome in BA!

I tend to agree with you op about the un-funniness of so many "ah style" replies, but going by your posts as linked to by that other lad it seems you just love to get on your high horse a lot.

I'm trying to make people realise that BA has gone a bit spammy the past couple of years :o

AH is kind of like crack. You know it's bad for you and will probably take years off your life...but it's also kind of fun.

Don't you realise that Boards.ie is for entertainment? Surely you don't think you or anyone else who posts here will change anything or have the slightest influence on public opinion outside this little artificial world of ours.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Mod

Use this thread for cheap digs to be banned.

    Funny /unfunny, meh.

    That wasn't funny at all.

OP, might have another candidate for you.

So trying to make other people laugh is a bad thing now?

I'd rather that than everyone here being a sour bitter cnut. The reason I like AH is because most people in it do not take things too seriously.

I totally agree, except it's overrun by unfunny people :o

    The thrill of the unknown.

"its not like the good old days" said the man.
"the good old days where just as bad" said the older man.
"Please untie me and let me go" said the young child

Well you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Just have to take the bad with the good.

Also everyone has a different sense of humour. Something you think is crap others might find hilarious etc. etc.

Just ignore the stuff you don't like and let the good times roll.

Nostalgia was much better in the olden days.

    I always say that.

Well you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Could one eat half the cake and then preserve the other half?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭St.Spodo

I'd try to make a funny if I thought what I had to say was genuinely funny. Going into a thread early to make an overwrought gag doesn't reflect well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,205 ✭✭✭Bad Panda

I see AH as the type of place for the type of quick witted remarks you'd sometimes say to your friends..just a bit of craic with some debate thrown in to make us appear as though we're not complete dumbasses.

OP, I suspect you're just not funny. Maybe you're better at other things, like being serious...or something...

Most other forums are great even with the thanks system

Could one eat half the cake and then preserve the other half?

Only if there is genuine hope of finding a cure for the remaining piece.
Now that I think about it, it is a stupid saying, what's the point of having a cake you cannot eat?
That's a topic for a different thread though.

Maybe I should start my first ever after hours thread. The internet equivalent of painting a target on your forehead.

We may be indundated with people trying to be funny, but at least we haven't got to the point where people post links to their own six-month old threads in order to get more thanks.

AH is full of sh1te these days? Then why is it one of, if not the most popular forum on boards?

Then again Rihanna has sold more albums than Oasis.

You may have a point OP.

I was thinking of starting a spin off thread on that very matter but I think there might already be one floating around.

People who find the thanks button so awful should:

    - Never thank anyone
    - PM people who thank them to remove their thanks

    But they won't.

If someone posts something unfunny, so what? Nobody else is paying attention to it, why should you?

Place is gone to the dogs, full of re-regs.

Place is gone to the dogs, full of re-regs.

Sounds like very boards savvy talk for a new person. Also welcome to boards!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

Well making a new one would give AH something to complain about, which appears to be a popular new trend, so in a way it's a great idea.

Do other people always scan an OP to see if the can spin a pun out of anything written?

    Because I don't.
