If you were wearing a bear costume, people would assume you were on your way to a fancy dress party or had just escaped from the zoo.
But if bear costumes were in vogue, and this was well established, that would be a particularly silly assumption to make.

Was in superMacs today and just happened to turn around and see a guy wearing a black shell tracksuit and the top had all ancient Eygptian symbols and Hieroglyphics embossed in gold and black patterns on the top part. jesus wept!

So you're comparing a bear costume to probably the most popular items of clothing around.................O.K

Do you really not understand what I'm trying to say?

I'm not literally comparing a tracksuit to a bear costume, I'm saying that wearing either will convey a certain message to a casual observer. That goes with the territory. So in putting on the clothes in question you enter into an unspoken social interaction.

If you really didn't care you wouldn't be whinging about what people thought about you.

Are you the type of chap that turns up to weddings/funerals/job-interviews in a tracksuit?

Where do you eat, champagne breakfast in Pierre marco White?

Seriously now. Most people have the odd supermacs/ mcdonalds/ tracksuit moment; however rarely.

I really question some of the more hysterical or hardline opponents of the tracksuit, for example.

    It reeks of overcompensating.

Well done you for sticking up for yourself....
I wear tracksuits at times, reasons being I work at a job were I am required to wear a suit so being comfy is great.
Also I gym a lot and as a mum of 2 tend to do the household shop after I get a gym session in.
People can be narrow minded and the best thing to do is ignore them as it's them with the problem!!

    You gym a lot?????

Wtf does that mean? Does it mean you go to the gym and workout/exercise a lot?

Your sack obviously knows nothing of the comfort to be found in a pair of tracksuit pants.

I think most youth wear em to project an able bodied, vanity of youth type thing. must be good for something. thing is they get stuck like that into their old age n autistic pensioners pick up it just becomes so common. n it gets blurred

My mother hates tracksuits with a passion so we weren't allowed to wear them growing up unless absolutely necessary i.e. sportdays. She thinks they're "common" looking.

Now that I'm older, I see her point. They're not flattering on anybody and they sort of give me the impression that the person wearing them just fished them out of a drawer instead of taking time to put a nice outfit together.

I own a few tracksuit bottoms, but I literally only wear them when I work out, lounge around the house or to bed if im really cold. Since this is what I purposefully bought them for I wouldn't dream of wearing them to college, social occassions etc.

HOWEVER this is just my opinion. If you feel confident wearing them, it shouldn't matter what other people say.

There's lots of tracksuit bottoms for women that are really nicely fitted (read: tight) and can look great.

    Where did i judge them?

In your first post. Go back and read it again.

See the bit where you said this:
I was then thinking to myself how in the hell could these eejits judge people by how they look and what they wear when it looked as though these guys just raided jedwards closet!

That's you judging them right there.

At first I thought you were doing it deliberately because, well it's funny to be hypocritical on purpose sometimes but now I just find it hilarious that you were oblivious to this while posting.

    But carry on....

    Its kind of

So if trackie/hoodies bearers start wearing NIKE/ armanu suits

    Would they change they're ways,,,well

    I think so.

I don't really notice people wearing them tbh  and I've never exclusively associated them with "skangers". I wear one when running and don't think about how it looks. They're comfortable and handy.

It might not be posh, but it is full of people who think they are better than the rest of society for one reason or another.

That's 95% of Irish society you've described right there Terry.
