How long will the shops stay open at midnight release? Would I be able to park outside in my car with the toasty heat on and then just dander in when the queue is down to the last few?

    I like your style sir!

You could do that but then you'd have to sit through watching people coming out with game in hand and heading home to play GTA V :D

Ah an extra half an hour or so won't kill me! Will only be playing until like 3am anyway, I am not a morning person at all without my sleep.

(Cue the alarm clock going off in the bedroom at 8.30am and me in the sitting room square eyed and drooling)

That has to be the least funny "funny" thing I've ever seen.

i think i read somewhere on this or somewhere else yesterday that gamestop are opening up for midnight release at 11pm is that true (btw i know this seems stupid)

I went to the midnight launch for GTA IV at my local xtravision. I wasn't expecting too many people to show up so I landed down there at 11.15 and the queue was 50 deep at that stage. People who haven't preordered have to wait till everyone who has preordered has gotten their copy. So even if you are first in the queue and haven't preordered you will have to wait. There will be hundreds at some of the midnight launches so either get down there early to get home early or arrive after 12 and wait for the queue to die down.

It won't be a case of arriving at 11.55 and picking up your game, you will have to wait. Maybe gamestop have a quicker system but xtravision is generally slow for all the midnight launches Ive been at.

1 of the lads in xtravision shannon said they will only have copies for people who preordered them. You won't be able to walk into the shop tuesday and get a copy. They are stopping preorders next day or so.

Have no idea why you quoted my completely unrelated post, but anyway.

I think they're opening at 10 or 11pm to process payment for people, the game won't be given out until after midnight.

Go in a few days in advance and pay then instead of standing around in a queue to pay and then going back and having to queue for the game.

I know people who refuse to get a pre order AND expect a copy at midnight, I keep telling them your chances are slim to none.

They just want to pay for it at the time, Idiots :pac:

Some on ehere said gamestop in cork have 1100 preorders

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 834 ✭✭✭Heart Break Kid

Pay whatever you have left off, they seem to have a priority Que set up for people who've paid up completely.

Also seen this on Dublin bus. Bad quality due to distance.

The one on Patrick's Street yes and that was a week ago.
Girl in Gamestop Douglas said they are not far off 800 or so.

No worries, I was just a bit confused by it!

I've no idea what time to go down at to be honest, I guess if you go early you're stuck waiting for the game to go on sale, and if you go later you're stuck waiting for the queue to move.

I might drive by, go pick up some pizza and nachos and just bide my time :D

This is the way my local GS said it was going to happen for them (and probably all the others):
They will be open at 11/whenever that link says.
Those who have paid in full before 11:45 ish will be able to walk up and get a "to be collected" receipt.
They then go out and create a priority queue.
When 12 o'clock hits it will be a case of walk up, swap your receipt for your copy and head home.

Those who havent paid in full and expect to have a secondary line of those going in to pay off the balance and then join the priority queue.

The ones who expect to swan in at five to 12 will be put in the secondary queue and they will have to pay and pick up one at a time once 12 o'clock comes.

Of course, there could be different limitations to different stores, but check with them.

You can get your gamestop reciept stamped anytime so you only have to queue once on the night...
    Its what I did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 834 ✭✭✭Heart Break Kid

I asked GS midget street about a stamp, they didn't say I needed 1

Only just realized that music in the GTA TV spot is same as the Arial ad.

I was told the same until she when back in the stock room and asked the manager, the stamp was sitting right there next to the register.

I remember when GTA San Andreas came out, Xtravision refused to sell me the game because I was under 18 yet they where fine to let me pre order the game  Had to get someone else to buy it for me, Was raging at the time.
