No news at all, we should know more by the end of the year. Rockstar have an event to do by then.

Would they have much events during the year? I'd like to see some info on the new game.

Agreed. Even if they just gave the name of it. If the games was called GTA5, we could assume its a whole new game. GTA: (Location) means that we could speculate if any previous characters would be in it, even just characters from GTA:IV

Let's hope they don't pawn us off with another DLC. I'd love to roam around a whole new city.

I'd love it if the next on was in San Andreas but it'll just be Vice City upgraded...then hopefully San An for the one after!

Most rumours point to Hollywood, which was Vinewood. I'd be far happier with Vice City, and maybe Ray Liotta? He's got nothing better to do in all fairness.

I think they're taking far too long with this, to be honest.

DLC is a load of shite. I want a new city to tear around. I wish they'd speed up the news regarding it!

so one Island of San Andreas? That wouldn't be good at all. If they ever do another one on San Andreas properly it could actually be the best game of all time, or even a place on the scale of San Andreas.

The main disappointment of GTA 4 was that NY is probably the most saturated setting for a game, it just wasn't original.

If its as good as Vice City, it would be doing really well.

Dammit. Even just the slightest bit of info would have been enough to satisfy the masses.

It'll be late 2011 early 2012 before any announcements probably late 2012 release early 2013. It's Probably likely to be Vice city if Rockstars releases are to be followed.

I can't see it being that long to be honest. I'd say we'll start seeing trailers and info around March 2011, then every few months with a release in Early 2012. 5 years would be too long to wait for a sequel when chances are they're going to be using the same engine as the last one, unlike GTA:SA and GTA:IV.

They have to bring back planes and chainsaws!

I really wish that they would just release some news about the game!!!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

We won't see a peep of a new GTA game I'd say till 2012 at the earliest. We had Red Dead last year (a great return to form for Rockstar IMO after a less than stellar experience GTA IV), LA Noire is coming this year so that'll be that and we may start to see some news about a new GTA game after their marketing hype for Noire has done its job and the game's been released. E3 is a maybe for some news I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Im not joking I had a dream of the new GTA5 last night and it was getto like SA. Looked alright though:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭Dr. Baltar

I reckon the next one will be Vice City albeit a Modern Day One. (I'd personally rather another 80s game).
Here's hoping for Chainsaws and Planes too! :D

GTA V is in the works with a possible return to L.A. It should be out (hopefully) by the end of the year/start of next year. I expect an announcment soon. Dying for a new GTA!!

Rockstar registered some domain names that are very GTA like such as liveinvader.com (parody of facebook me thinks) and stoppaying yourmortage.com.

Also some casting leaks are about. Take Two, Rockstars parent company were casting for odd GTA-esque characters such as:
Kevin De Silva: 18, Albert's fat, FPS playing gamer son. Smokes a lot of weed, has anxiety issues and a card for a bad back, very soft, very opinionated. Into making racist comments while playing online.

Chad: 29, pretty boy misogynist Beverly Hills party boy. Made money, but not as cool as he thinks he is

Miguel Gonzalez: 25, Young Mexican American FBI agent, caught between a few mob bosses. Very clean cut

Mitch Hayes: 38, Annoying, wise cracking, highly successful FBI agent. In great shape. Does triathlons, drinks low cal beer, but still has a sense of humor.

    http://www.planetinsane.com/rumor-gta-5-may-be-set-in-la/2612119/

''There is some evidence that when the new Grand Theft Auto 5 is released that it will feature a game that is set in Los Angeles. There is more and more evidence that is showing that GTA 5 is in the development and working stages and now there is word that some tweets and other information may lead to believe that GTA 5 will have a Southern California/LA vibe to it. The big piece of information that is leading people to believe that GTA 5 is not long away and that it will be set in LA is through some information that has been gotten from a top video game analyst and insider.''

This source says that Telsey and Company, a company that is responsible for casting calls of video games, has been advertising that need some actors for a project called 'Rush' and that it is an action video game.
It has been reported through several outlets that RockStar, the company that develops role playing games for video consoles such as GTA 5 has also been advertising that they are looking for a game programmer for a project that they too are calling 'Rush'.

This source has also claimed that they have been able to get their hands on a list of characters that will be in this new game and they seem to give credit to a LA scene and vibe. Grand Theft Auto 4 came out back in the early part of 2009 and with the more new complex and innovative consoles and technologies that are coming out with video games these days, it only makes sense that GTA 5 could be the code name for this new game 'Rush'. That is the big word in the video gaming world and they say that you should expect GTA 5 within the next year to hit the shelves

I would be so annoyed if it was another small map, especially if it was a part of San Andreas that they used and not the full shabang.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Early parts of the rumours are usually way off the mark. Nobody knows for sure but my money is on a setting in Vice city(80s). Hopefully anyway!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,239 ✭✭✭✭KeithAFC

    Should make Vice city 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Nodferatu

why would they keep going back to the same 3 city's again and again. thats boring. vice city has been done, and it was brilliant, one of my all time fave games is VC. i want a new part of the world, possibly europe?? it'll probably most likely never happen but somewhere other than the same old city's would be cool, so im hoping the rumors are not too far from the truth!!

And how many years ago was that ? Nine.

I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if it was Vice City again, if fact I hope it is. There obviously not going to use the same map from the original game and if it was VC then they'd do something similar to how GTA IV was created. At the end of the day Vice City is only a name.

Europe ? nah doubt it will happen and I hope it never does. America is renowned for its themes and culture and thats what makes the GTA series so good. VC for the whole Miami/Don Jonson/Pam trees/Sun/80s music theme. SA for the early 90s/LA police corruption/Gang wars ect ect and LC for the New York experience : tall sky scrapers/ Dull weather/ yellow cabs everywhere.

Just actually realized on that list that VC has the most themes and I could of written more and the other two I was struggling, all the more reason for VC :pac:

Well considering they revisited Liberity city its a possibility good old vice city will be back. I loved that too!

It's most likely going to be in Vice City.

I'm on a forum where this supposed hacker, hacked in to Rockstar a got some info. He says he's giving Rockstar til E3 to release the info otherwise he will himself.

He posted this last night under the username RockstarLeaks. He posted a list of Rockstars personal email addresses too. Ones that can't be found on the interwebs. He also posted this:

    c9AT4.png

He also got some info on Max Payne 3.

Another important thing he posted is this....

    QUOTE (RockstarLeaks)
They're working on two new GTA games. Both citie(s) that we've seen before but being revisited again. ONE of them being in another country but the major upcoming one in the U.S.

    And...

Yes, oh definitely. The graphics are going to be a huge improvement from GTA IV.

I don't know the size, the game still has a while to go, it's nowhere finished yet but I do expect it to come out Q1 or Q2 2012.

I can't reveal features until E3 or that would be revealing content.

    And....

    QUOTE (RockstarLeaks)
    QUOTE (Seminole)
If you are that excited you should give us some hints to figure out the city for the 360/PS3 game ;-)

I definitely won't reveal that yet but just use common sense on the remakes we've seen so far.

This is my last post until E3, depending on R* revealing GTA or not.

    See you all then!

Oh and here's the Read Me in Zip that he sent to Rockstar. I downloaded the Zip and it contains an image with multiplayer control response table. So I think the guy is legit. Anyway here's the Read Me...
These documents detail the following information:

    - Test results between different games and Max Payne 3. Reload timing & much more.

    - How much of it is a work in progress. From the looks of it, the game is alomst done and
just needs a few testing and whatnot to do.

    - There is a level referred to as "NM". My guess would be New Mexico but who knows.

    - They're integrating a lot of code from RDR (Red Dead Redemption) for Multiplayer and Single Player.

    - TONS of other notes and details that you'll just have to read to see.

    - Also:

If you have a login to NaturalMotion, which I don't, then you can look at some
exclusive Max Payne 3 footage below:

    https://jira.naturalmotion.com/browse/MAXP-290
    https://jira.naturalmotion.com/browse/MAXP-289
    https://jira.naturalmotion.com/browse/MAXP-296
    https://jira.naturalmotion.com/browse/MAXP-280

    Note to Rockstar Games:

If you don't reveal details on the next "Grand Theft Auto" game by the end of E3 2011, then consider it leaked.

Your employee(s) are idiots and you yourselves are not secure in any shape or form.

I have nothing personally against your company or your employees besides my thirst for information.

    That is all ;-)

-- More to come *soon* if you don't do what I am asking you to in this little note. --

If he's legit, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for Rockstar to win him over with a load of merchandise and an advanced copy of an upcoming game for him to sign a contract saying he won't open his mouth.

Doesn't look slightly convincing but thanks for the link nonetheless.

    1. It's Liberty City
    2. It's says Liberty City in the title
    3. You can see that it's Liberty City
    4. There's modded cars in it that are more like real cars such as the Humvee and what looks like the Citreon C4.
    5. It's not a trailer.

    Lol.

GTA V will most likely be announced at this summers E3 gaming convention in June.

Rockstar have 3 triple A games in the works. Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire (with Team Bondi) and GTA V. A month after L.A. Noire is released we might get a revealed logo for GTA V at E3 but nothing more I'd imagine. They'll then spend 6-12 months marketing and hyping it up. So I wouldn't expect it out until 2012 anyway. Maybe at the start of 2012 or this time next year depending on which game they decide to release first. Max Payne 3 or GTA V.

It's a cert for E3 I reckon. Wouldn't be surprised to see it announced for the new Nintendo console either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭Mensch Maschine

Looking forward to seeing the new Nintendo console. Unfortunately it looks unlikely that we'll see an announcement of GTA V at E3. Rockstar wont have a stall there. This is coming from IGN who's director also wrote/said this...
Jim Reilly the person from IGN, who wrote ''heard interesting things about the next Grand Theft Auto'', also told that ''2012 is the release of Grand Theft Auto V and BioShock: Infinite''
    That's a misquote...

    He tweeted this...
"With Grand Theft Auto V and BioShock Infinite coming in 2012, now's the time to buy some Take-Two stock."

He's a credible source. He's the editor of IGN. IGN also have their thing on Live. Also he wouldn't want to ruin his or anyone else's rep.

EDIT: Take Two, Rockstars parent company are at E3. They are the parent company of 2Kgames and Rockstar so there's 50% chance we'll see Rockstar.

Sorry for the double post but came across this...
In a quarterly financial briefing, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had this to say about the upcoming 2013 fiscal year, which runs from April 1st 2012 to March 31st 2013.

While it is still very early to discuss fiscal 2013, we have a very strong pipeline of titles in development and currently expect to achieve substantial earnings growth, including Non-GAAP earnings per share in excess of $2.00.

    — Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two
While it is still too early to tell if this means we will be seeing Grand Theft Auto V in 2012/early 2013, one thing is clear; Take-Two definitely has something big planned, as the last time Take-Two made such profits was in 2008, right after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
See the full Take-Two quarterly financial briefing here.

So basically, the last time Take Two saw Non-GAAP earnings go over $2.00 per share was in 2008, at the release of IV. So I'm pretty sure, with my above post aswell that GTA V or whatever it's gonna be called will be released sometime next year, 2012.

    ****, I can't wait soo long. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,804 ✭✭✭Benzino

Rockstar have 3 triple A games in the works. Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire (with Team Bondi) and GTA V.

You can add Agent to that list, the PS3 exclusive game announced way back in 2007. It is also been developed by Rockstar North, so same guys as GTA.
A month after L.A. Noire is released we might get a revealed logo for GTA V at E3 but nothing more I'd imagine.

That's possible, I wouldn't expect anymore as Rockstar have confirmed they won't be at E3.

Agent has been in development for some time, I wouldn't be surprised to hear something regarding it soon enough, im sure Sony want to get it out soon. So Max Payne 3 (disappointed Remedy are not doing this btw :( ), GTA IV: Somewhere and then Agent perhaps in the next 2 years?

It seems Take 2 confirmed it was still in development in May, and at E3 Jack Tretton said that the games exclusivity was up to Rockstar. A bit strange Rockstar would make the game for the PS3 only if no deal was struck with Sony.

Not surprised at the lack of GTA info at E3, aww well!

What bugs me, is that there's no sense in keeping it so long between games.

Clearly people are wanting a new GTA, there's always been demand for the series, and the games make an absolute fortune for Rockstar.

It's been so long since IV that clearly V would sell like mad. Why take so long? From a gamer and business standpoint, it makes no sense to put it on the back burner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭Mensch Maschine

Benzine, my bad, I was supposed to say Agent instead of L.A. Noire. And although it's kind of sad Remedy aren't doing Payne I'm glad it went to Rockstar. The did an excellent game version of The Warriors and I think they'll be faithful to the series and really do it justice.

@KKV: I know, I feel your pain. IV, although enjoyable, didn't fulfil my dreams of San Andreas 2 if you know what I mean. Technically superb game when it came to graphics and physics but lack of content/replayability let me down.

Also we've had 2 or 3 Saints Row games (although not as good as GTA) on the 360/PS3 and only one GTA game excluding DLC and the 360 is around 5 years. That's depressing.

Footage of the new Saints Row is actually enticing and it might actually tie me over til V comes out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,601 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

I don't think it's going to be GTA V. It'll either be Vice City or San Andreas 2 imo.
