I haven't played GTA since San Andreas, my favourite was probably actually GTA 3 when i first got my PS2. i have only really played sports games the last few years as ive gotten older, but find myself wanting to see what this is about due to the hype and happen to be off work the week it comes out!

how accessible will it be for someone not a hardcore gamer? will it be pick up and play?

    Yes.

The first few missions are usually basic enough to get you to grips with any changes. GTA IV had a new driving system so their was a lot of driving early on for example.

It will be the same as when you played SA. Might take a little while to get used to, but after that you'll be grand.

I'd love to know the views of someone who never played any of the "HD" era gtas after you play this one for a while.
I wonder will it be as spectacular for you after not seeing the gritty gta 4.

Or will it be even better because the serious leap in tech to produce and present these games.

Did you ever play red dead?

This time next week I'll be waiting at the gate for the postman. My the lord have mercy on his soul if he doesn't have that game for me. I may actually kill him.

Why play the game , when you can just cause havoc in real life. Careful though, you dont respawn

I had a nightmare last night where I got the game on the 16th.

I popped it in, I was immediately in freeroam mode as Michael. I walked outside of his apartment and got in a car... then I noticed... the game was SA graphics mixed with The Godfather: The Game movements and sounds. Michael just slid in and out of cars, not actually getting in. The cars felt arcadey.

    I was heartbroken.

I remember thinking "How am I going to break it to the guys on the GTA thread that the thing we've been waiting for so long is actually a monumental disappointment?"...

Luckily my alarm went off then. Never have I been so happy to wake up at 7am. :P

For those who received the email from GameStop yesterday requesting that necessary funds be in their account by the 10th, I emailed their customer service and got this swift reply:
    Hi
    ,

This email was sent out to all our GTA V orders and you had received this in error.

You order is paid for completely and all that needs to be done is to wait until your order arrives next week.

    Sorry for any confusion caused.

    Regards,
    Jamie

I thought that was the case alright, no harm in checking to make sure though.

9 o'clock I know this because I work on Liffey street and am often stood before their doors waiting on a game.

    See ya there!

If my fatty PS3 gives up trying to play this game I will be in the mental hospital with the breakdown I'll have.
 Could that happen? I've a fairly old PS3, a 40GB one bought in 2008 afair. Is there some reason it might have a harder time playing the game than a newer PS3?

The only reason is that it is old and probably full of dust, so it might break. It's no less capable of playing the game though.

Any idea what the installed size will be for GTA V if I download it from PSN? I know the download is 18GB, but presumably that is compressed?

Mod: I've moved the pictures of the map to the Spoilers thread. I don't think it's necessarily spoiler-ish, but at the same time, it's not a picture which has been in any way officially released, so by rights it belongs in the spoiler thread.

I've a fatty eswell, think its an 80GB one? I had a 40GB one which overheated (meant the fan was coming on ridiculously loud) so I contacted sony and they replaced it with a refurbished 80GB launch model, should I be worried about HHD space?

Sorry about that, didn't think it was much of a spoiler as most of us has seen the map in one form or another.

I think it has about an 8GB install, so if you've less than that, just delete some game data from games you don't play any more or no longer own.

Same, need to download it to 2 PS3s before release so even at PSN speed it should be ready and likely allow me to play at either midnight or 1am; it was 1am when for the last game I got preloaded.

Never thought of downloading it twice.

Could split the high cost between myself and my brother.

Is there any issues with doing that?

How do you know you can pre download on the 13th? never really buy games off psn, would save me a trip in at midnight if this the case, my Internet isn't the best but if possible to pre download would definitely think of it.

It says after you buy it.

The game will start downloading on the 13th and the preorder blimp and theme will download on the 16th.

It does it automatically but you're usually able to download it manually before that.
