So I know everyone here is mad keen to get their kits on this this game (me included) due to the sheer apparent brilliance of it.....however, is anyone else worried that the hype is getting to a level where it will be impossible for a game to match? Don't get me wrong, I am soooo looking forward to this, im checking forums every day, replaying GTA IV saying "oh my god, this would never happen in GTA V", etc. but that in itself is what I mean...I'm building it up in my head too much

    This time 8 days....!!!!!! :D

Nope I thinks it's fair to say this will be no less than a masterpiece. :D This time in 8 days we'll be joining the midnight launch queues!

For a game that cost 265 million USD to make with a staff of over 300 people, I think it will do just fine if not immesnly well, I'd be watching GTA Online, that will shape it for me.

GTA IV made nearly half a billion dollars in its first week. Id imagine V will increase on that hugely. TBH I wouldnt be surprised if it surpassed a billion dollars in sales in the first week.

Yeah, other than the fact it's a fake account. I'm sure the lad on his computer fooling all the naive and gullible people on the internet will be able to sort you out though.

Most won't agree (because we're still in hype mode) but you're absolutely right. Especially when you take into consideration that people are thinking "I can't wait to use a minigun on a police car" or "I can't wait to fly out into the countryside", etc, and these are things (minigun, flying) that will likely need to be unlocked as you progress through the game.

The start of the game is going to kill a lot of people's buzz when they have to do missions to unlock things and are stuck with no guns or the likes until they progress a bit. I suspect there'll be an almighty outcry of moaning and whinging initially when the game comes out, along with direct comparisons to San Andreas and how SA was much better, etc. until people progress the game a bit more and unlock more stuff.

That's what I'm anticipating anyway. Nothing ever lives up to this kind of hype.

Notice how that Gamestop page on Facebook has only a thousand likes and its called "Gamestop."

Its blatantly fake. Those groups are only put together to get likes and shares so they can spam you at a later date.

Anyone else worried about how much gta v is going to consume their lives for the next few months?
God help any student sitting an exam this year!

I know people are joking about this but I know two lads who spent their entire second year playing San Andreas. Both struggled very badly!

I was luckily unable to bring my console to college so only lost every second of my weekends!

How cool is it that we'll be playing in the bright summery feel of Los Santos as the nights get colder and darker.

Anyone know when the embargo on reviews will be lifted?

Good question, I know there are a few game journos here on boards, would be interesting to know when/if you will be getting review copies?

You didnt play it enough so. Anyone I know who thinks it was crap only played for an hour or two.

The only valid complaint would be dull, but it's Liberty City, that's kinda the idea.

I completed and thought it was pretty boring. Massively ambitious but the city lacked substance. Nothing on the side to sink your teeth into and not really worth exploring. just my opinion, this debate has been done to death.

Which is dull, not crap. It's a great game if you dont expect jet packs and crap.

I didnt really like it the first time, but I did on the second and following playthoughs. I'd rank it ahead of SA now. TLAD is my favourite of the lot.

I'd assume we should see first reviews by Friday this week or next Monday by the latest.

I finished the main story twice. Once on Xbox, and again on PC. The game wasn't fun. Few decent missions but nothing really in comparison to San Andreas. Only one that was of that quality was the bank robbery mission. The expansions were much better

I did the same. Completed IV a few times and TBOGT a couple of times. I overall enjoyed it, but there's no doubting there were more lulls in IV's story in comparison to previous GTA game. I found Alderney in general to be very 'meh' and that's being kind. TBOGT was great from start to finish however, even though I found the final mission somewhat underwhelming, but most final missions are these days heh!

Still not seeing how someone can call it crap.

The final mission in TLAD is epic. Think only three leaf clover beats it.

Most expensive game ever made, in fact, second in the entertainment industry only to The Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in production costs!!

I wouldn't call it crap but it was definitely disappointing, and dull as ditchwater for the most point.

I completed and thought it was pretty boring. Massively ambitious but the city lacked substance. Nothing on the side to sink your teeth into and not really worth exploring.

If you compare IV to SA - SA rewarded exploration, had great substance and character to the world, a likeable main character, and a lot more to do outside of missions.
IV had stunning graphics, an incredibly detailed world, and a superb physics engine.

My thoughts are that with IV a lot of time was spent on improving the graphics and game engine (and both were fantastic). I'm hoping that with V, using the same engine and borrowing code from RDR and others, the lion's share of their time will have been spent on what made SA great - i.e. exploration, charm & character, and more to do outside missions.

IV was a good game all round, not as good as SA, but V can only be an improvement on it.

just my opinion, this debate has been done to death.

    Agreed :P
