That didn't last long. Shame to see it go after only opening 2 years (?) ago

Teds attracted a certain crowd that was off putting to some. I know my wife and her friends didn't like going there anymore because the place was full of leery men making lewd comments. It was a very claustarphic place as well. We went in one night of a weekend and the guy behind the bar says they were closing at 12:30 because they didn't get a late license that weekend. Was very odd.

Yet, when 101 was full people would always try to get in there but people really went that far up the street for 101 really.

Not altogether surprising that Ted's has fallen by the wayside. It's the kind of place that was good enough in the past, but the standard of pub has improved greatly in recent years and a dark, narrow claustrophobic box of a pub is likely to struggle.

Not surprised on Teds. Was there once and it felt like they were expecting the Teds of old, to just take over from where it left off.
no effort, no real advertising, no interest to a lot of people imo.

To be fair to Ted's, most late nights places are like this in Limerick. At least with Ted's you knew what to expect.

That is probably true but the ones I would be referring to would be in their late 50's and older so annoying girls in their 30s is more off putting. That is what my wife and her friends say at least.

Not much u really can do with in terms of that boxy shape cause ur limited by the space @ both sides.

I went into Teds a few nights and I always thought it was a bit rough. And old Teds on a Sunday night was my favourite spot back in 07/08. Used to go in with a crew I worked with every Sunday when I was in college instead of to the lodge with the college lads. Good times..

Not surprised walked in one night with a group and walked straight back out. Loud music, very dark and no atmosphere. Dont think they knew what their market was. They spent a good bit of money on it, but I think they could have done better to be fair. Pub trade is a hard business to be in too.

Agreed. I don't think it has a future as a pub. Might be better as a restaurant, or retail, or something else.

How about a Euro Store? Or a bookies even? Off-license perhaps?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Five Guys opened in the old Dunnes on O’Connell Street.

Five Guys is opening in a Dunnes unit on Georges Street in Dublin and Dunnes have applied for permission to change their unit in Limerick to a restaurant.

Teds will be taken over by 101 that was the plan from the start

We are screwed so if that's the case :p:p. It wouldn't suit them. Gut the entire place & knock a hole in side wall.then height difference in ground floor in buildings would screw that as well.

I think it used to be Cassidy's before Dunnes took it over. That's why it had chandeliers and naked women on the bannisters! :pac:

Maybe you're thinking of the one on Sarsfield Street?

    Harrys?

    Not surprised Ted's is closing.

First reason being the crowd "running" it.

Have to laugh at the comments about leery old men...it's Ted's...notorious down the years for old pervs and desperate women.

I see that Costa is gone from the Odeon cinema. I asked one of the guys there what happened and he said that Costa have pulled out of all Odeon cinemas. Any trace that they were there is gone. They just have a generic seating area there now.

Pulled out? Considering the operators of Starbucks in Ireland acquired the cinema group, as they're originally an entertainment company, I'd say that's it the reason.

Can't be hosting the competition after all.
