What do people use to capture pictures of aircraft flying at cruising altitude? How good a camera is required?

A DSLR with a large lens, mine is 100-400mm total cost=expensive

A bridge camera as they're called with huge "optical" zoom capability like canons sx60 has 65x zoom it's around €400+

    Or

For the really close up clear shots a telescope with a DSLR body attached which is about €1000

Middle one is probably best option and you can get older models for less but it's optical zoom you need not digital that's just cropping.

    24-2000mm 35mm Equivalent Focal Length
    83x Optical zoom

Found some pics taken with this camera >here<

I love the old classic 747, have spent many hours in the jumpseat and some hours in the simulator, we still have a few of them left but their time is limited :(

I've a similar predicament ...16 of my copyrighted images (as in every photo on their site!) are on a commercial Irish Flying Club website. I am not credited anywhere. Requests to remove the images were ignored until I got their website hosting company involved. They promised me that they'll remove the images by Monday....and have now barred me from Photographing/visiting their field!
I would be naming and shaming.

How can they prevent you taking shots from outside the airfield?

    They couldn't.:)

Anyhow, as an update to my situation, see below.

I've requested a written apology, either on their FB page or their website, but this seems unlikely.

That IRFU paint scheme on the EI A320 for some reason makes it look like a 787 to me, anyone think likewise at first glance I could've sworn it was a 787.

In general terms, Airbuses are much more pleasant to drawn than Boeings.

White has that effect, hence you wear black for its slimming effect!!

    Here here top job.

This week I have seen similar from the hotel in Gatwick and these from Manchester, great to see ramp shots like these from hotel rooms. Especially notorious Gatwick where it's hard to get any ground shots. Quality through glass a dub in Glasgow is great so hat tip for that.

Diverted in earlier - fire warning in cargo hold. Everything fine in end, just a big delay for pax and crew!

Your challenge is to tell me the name of this little airline, that i bet you will not have heard of before. Hints, its a 737-700 and they're based somewhere in Asia...

In the photo discussion thread obviously :)

A bit of judicious search tags gives me Air Do
