A first Airbus 319 for Volotea has been painted at Shannon by Eirtech.

    See pic here:- https://flic.kr/p/DuTh4a

I quite like the Volotea livery on the 717's, I feel they didn't recreate it properly on the A319.

Was on a Thomson flight to lanzarote last week and looked out the window to see a rainbow on the wing, wasn't sure if this was common or not

Does anyone know if the Aer Lingus plane with the Eircell Ready to Go paint job is still in use? I landed in T1 in Dublin this morning and saw it in what looked like a holding area. Sorry, was unable to snap any pics.

It's in use as a Fire & Rescue trainer:

    Was it not a Ryanair?

T'was & without showing my age, I flew on it. Ryanair went through a stage of branding planes, I also remember Jaguar & Kilkenny (the flying pint)

Its pretty uncommon. You need the sun to be at the right angle on one side of the aircraft and a light shower on the other. Look at you picture again....the rainbow is actually circular, just that you cant see the entirety of it.

How do you guys get pictures at Baldonnell? Do you just walk in or do you ask for permission?

    You must seek permission.

If you want to come along on the annual Boards.ie A&A visit to Baldonell, you're welcome to join us. We'll be doing it towards the end of August this year. :)

I think these two images are quite evocative of how far DUB has developed in the last 10-15 years. ET B787 and EK B777 as daily visitors, and then the congestion of being a major European airport. Not something that could have been predicted even 10 years ago.

I know its an old one but the MD83 F-MLGU looks suitably off the wall and garish. Really stands out from the "corporate white" schemes :)

A New Year's request, is there any chance of the Mods making the Aviation & Aircraft Photo Gallery *No Discussion* http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055093842 a "sticky"? :)

Not at the moment, we've been "asked" by the Admins to keep the sticky count down to 3 if possible, we've got 4 at the moment, we had 4, the employment survey had finished, so it's been unstuck, so we now meet the suggested sticky limit that was passed on to us a while ago.

More than this number is causing problems on mobile apps, due to the reduced screen space, which makes reading normal threads a problem.

We've not been given any indication of a change to this requirement, there was a hope that there might be a work round found, but it's been very quiet on that front since it was requested.

If the requirement is relaxed, we will review what's sticky or not.

Having said that, this thread has had less than 30 posts since the end of Feb 16, so in brutal reality, it is NOT a high volume activity thread, there are a number of other threads that would qualify before this one if activity was the criteria for selection.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

height? 37,000?. very good, are they cropped seem a little soft but amazing reach. Have you a tripod for these shots and are you using the lcd or evf?
what are the camera settings. friend of mine is interested in that camera ...and i am getting interested too...

    Hi Jenny

    • The AN124 was at 35,000. The others were E/B so were between 37,000 and 39,000 ft
    • They are usually 1/2 or 2/3 frame so are cropped a little
    • No tripod - hand held, so I take 5 or 6 and in most cases get at least one, maybe 2 are usable. A little bit of haze doesn't help of course! I have a good tripod, so will try someday :)
    • I use the view finder as the camera is more steady than when using the LCD. The grip is better.
    • I use Shutter Priority on automatic. Darkens the blue and brings up the livery much better - Qatar and THY. (Saves on the Photoshopping!!)
The biggest curse (apart from haze) sun reflections! It actually looks a tad dramatic on the Qatar, but with the sun behind you and blasting the side of your subject - that'll render a lot of shots rubbish. But shutter priority does help.

I need to start experimenting on different settings.

This is full frame - no cropping of p-shopping (but look what it is at FL350)
