You're right, I'd say any talk of of six figure sponsorship deals would be over the course of the whole contract, not just one season. Bottom line is the LOI is not able to sustain a full time professional league. So where do you go from there? Back to semi-pro/amateur?

It looks that way to me. The move to a full-time pro league was always going to be reliant on increased attendances, which hasn't really happened. It hasn't been marketed or promoted very well.

    No. Per year.

The LoI will, for the foreseeable future, a mix of full time pro sides, Rovers, Sligo, Derry at the moment, and part time. Cork are probably full time as well. Hopefully over time the smaller clubs like Pats and Bohs will sustainably make the leap.

    @bohsman.

I meant annual sponsorship revenue did increase last year albeit not by 300%. But the revenue is well in excess of what you claimed.

And as said, there is more than one sponsor.

When I said 100k I meant main jersey sponsor per year. Obviously Rovers sponsorship has increased considering the move from d1 to Europa League and the big Tallaght market.

And I am telling you to double it and add a bit for the main jersey sponsor.

So taking in around 4-500k in sponsorship between your 15 sponsors and a 600k budget how in the world have Rovers not been making close to 7 figure profit?

On what planet do Rovers have a 600k budget?

Our wage bill is twice that

The Rovers wage bill is in the region of €1.1m a year.

Not according to MON but another rumour I dont have much faith in does claim that Rovers players do have twice the amount of contracts they should have.

What way does the partner sponsorship work? I can understand the shirt sponsorship and the publicity it generates, but what benefits or exposure do partners get? Is it common practice at every club? Do bohs have a similar scheme

What's the difference between a sponsor and a partner? Surely it's a different name for the same thing? I would hope every club has more sponsors than just the shirt sponsor.

Secondary sponsors are often elsewhere on the shirt as opposed to the front.

I dont know much about it to be honest. I can understand the benefits of shirt sponsorship but I dont see the benefits of being a partner, what exposure does the partner get? Maybe it is common practice at all clubs though i would imagine it is only a fraction of the sponsorship that the main shirt sponsors pays

Yeah but apparently rovers have 15 "partners", the jersey would be like a formula 1 outfit at that rate

They can have ads in the ground/in the match programme, or pub/hotel sponsors who benefit from business before and after matches and from the club/supporters groups holding events in them.

You can even get sponsorship just by putting up no smoking signs in one of your stands. :p

Also some partners are travel and logistics companies. For instance one of the partners, Libra Trans, transports all the teams gear for european away trips. Likewise another, USN, provide the team with all sports nutrition and supplementation etc...

Many partners do many things. Its not simply a case of handing over money.
