I'm on the last episode of In the Dark now and must say it is hugely interesting listening. The police really have some serious questions to answer. Bit of a time investment - 10 x 30/40 minute episodes, but well worth it - ideal listening for a commute. It's somewhat in the vein of Making a Murderer but, IMHO, better. Highly recommended!
Yeah, I just finished listening to that, and it was fascinating. There was a real disservice done to the boys in that district.

I read an article about the unsolved mystery of Roland T. Owen recently and knew it had to be posted here.

To summarise, Roland T Owen booked into a hotel in Kansas; a single room so just for him. Soon after, he was found pulped, bloodied and naked in the bathroom. He briefly regained consciousness and told medics that he'd fallen and hit his head against the bathtub. It was quite a serious fall because, as he went down, he managed to get tied up, beaten all over his body, strangled and stabbed. He died from his injuries either in the ambulance or shortly after his arrival at hospital having never regained consciousness.

As well as the beating, all of the guy's stuff had been stolen from the hotel room (including the clothes he had been wearing). Then it turned out he was using a false name. Because of the false name, the police couldn't track the man's family. So they planned a cheap funeral that would be funded by the State.

However, shortly after the plans for the cheap funeral were announced in the press someone anonymously paid for a proper burial. The same person also funded flowers and sent a note stating: "Love forever - Louise." Police staked out the funeral, but no one showed up.

About two years later, someone claimed Owen was in fact her long lost brother (Artemus Ogletree) and this was indeed confirmed. He had left home about a year before his death (and he was only about 19) and they'd not seen him since. However, Ogletree's family had received a number of letters from him dated after his death. On top of that, Ogletree's mother got a phone call from some guy claiming her son had moved to Egypt and married a wealthy woman there.

The whole thing sounds like a crazy soap opera plot and "Artemus Ogletree" is a fantastic name, IMO. But that's about it in a nutshell. This all took place back in the 1930s, so there isn't a huge amount of info out there but I have included a link above and here:

Actually an amalgamation of 2 tales, but I love the way you show it.

Roly Owen was trying out a 'hooker on a budget' and paid the price, quite literally by being robbed by the pimp and when he put up a fight he was beaten senseless and the story continues.

Roly happened to be buried beside Artemus and thus the legend begins to grow legs........

But there you go we need food for imagination and no better place to look than 1930's 1940's murica.....

The popularity of the Kardashians...absolutely bizzare. None of them have jobs and they spend their time taking pics of their ass. If anyone can explain their appeal id love to hear it.

People love watching soaps, they are addictive. We all know soaps aren't real. The Kardashians are like a soap except what you see is "real".

It's insane that a mother can manage pimp out her five daughters and all become incredibly rich in the process. She didn't know what to do with her son and he ended up a complete mess.

It's madness but people are voyeuristic and love watching and judging others.

They are actually kept as pets by the Sasquatch, Benny, a 32 year old member of the tribe was conscripted into the army on the union side but never got the basic training so when he was given his weapon and fatigues he actually ate the Hawken 50 cal, which was already loaded and there ended Benny. However Rufus, his pet came looking for the unfortunate Benny and suffered the consequences.

To this day the Sasquatch will not mix with men and so protecting themselves and their pets.

24year old man in Brazil locks himself in his room for a month while his parents are away and after he disappeared some weird stuff was found in his room: the bed was gone, most surfaces of the room were written on and there was a large expensive statue in the room. He had previously told his sister that he was writing a series of books that would "change humanity".

Bizarre. Has all the hallmarks of a hoax, or a publicity stunt of some kind though.

Hoax, stunt and mental illness were all mentioned on the reddit and 4chan threads. The guy is still missing though, police are involved and his parents are worried.

This post analyses some of the work in the room

Some sort of a development in the Trevor Deely case after forensic examination of the CCTV footage:
    http://www.thejournal.ie/trevor-deely-breakthrough-in-case-3325237-Apr2017/

Unclear as yet how much of a 'breathrough' this represents. But let's hope it brings closure to family...

Very frustrating to say there has been a breakthrough and then not elaborate
    Just seems like clickbait

Given what has been released so far, it doesn't seem to be much of a breakthrough, not unless they are holding back on lots of detail.

They have cctv of someone who spoke to Trevor on the night he went missing. It's not exactly conclusive. It's a potential lead, not a breakthrough.

The way you phrased it OP I thought he had locked himself in his room and when people got in, he wasn't inside.
Borges’ worried dad told G1.Globo.com he last saw his son when he left the family home in Rio Branco, Acre, with no money on March 27.

Its a bizarre case but it seems to be relatively straight forward in that a mentally ill man is missing.

As for the bed, statue and writing. The logical explanation would be he removed his bed while his parents were away, bought the statue and wrote the books which are most likely full of gibberish.

Can be. People who are bipolar/manic or whatever the term is now can be extremely productive. Bit like Autism. Often it's destructive/useless energy, sometimes not.

Just because he`s mentally ill doesn't mean he isn't intelligent. A computer coder has deciphered some of the code so based on that I'm assuming its computer code which would account for the symmetry.
